Faith sat in the quiet common room, it was late and mostly emptied. She greatly appreciated the lack of activity; she was trying very hard to concentrate and not lose her temper. She was staring into the fireplace at the flickering tongues of orange-y fire trying to control them. No matter how much she worked at it, the fire jumped about in it's usual random way, not listening to her. It was nothing like water, supple, and easy to bend. Fire had a mind of it's own that Faith would never understand.
She slumps back in her chair, irritated at her lack of ability with three of the elements. Turning her head to the right, she sees a glass of water and it gives her an idea. She turns back to the fire and clicks her fingers; water pours down, dousing the flames with a soft hiss. This act however only gets her some unwanted looks from the remaining people in the commons, because it had just gotten considerably colder. Faith begins tugging on strands of her hair coming down from the bun, frustrated with herself. She poises her finger several inches above the surface of the water glass and spins her finger clock-wise. The water follows her finger obediently, forming a spiral suspended in mid-air.
"Racist sister!"
"10 points to Dumbledore..."
"Eternal glory... Already got it!"
"Well I'm The Boy That Lived - not died"
"...and he just happens to pick your name out of hundreds, if not FIVE possible students..."
"...and I'll sabotage all the other champions so you win by default."

Emma silently stepped into the Hufflepuff common room, noticing how few people there were. She had just been outside by the lake in the warm summer air, drinking in the moonlight. She wore her school uniform; short sleeve button up shirt, gray vest, black and yellow tie with black slacks and shoes. Her robe was upstairs hanging on a poster of her bed. Her chestnut brown hair was in a messy ponytail. She didn't bother to mess with her appearance so late at night. She figured everyone would be in bed anyway, but she was wrong.

She shrugged and laid down on the couch, closing her eyes. She wasn't going to sleep, but just wanted to relax. Today had been a stressful day and she was supposed to make herself be calm before resorting to her potion. She had failed to grow something in Herbology, earning her a poor grade for the day, the animal of the week for Care of Magical Creature's had bitten her which called for a trip to the Hospital Wing, and she messed up her dream potion by forgetting to add some kind of root. She sighed, feeling a little bit relaxed in the student atmosphere. That meant she wasn't going to need to worry about transforming.

Faith looked up from the spiral as someone else entered the common room and laid down on the couch next to her chair. She looked stressed and very worn out- physically and emotionally. Faith, knowing water as well as she did, could detect the lingering sweet-smelling moist air that hovers around lakes on her.
"How was the lake?" She inquired, Faith had been thinking about going down there herself after dinner, but instead decided to practice fire. She regretted that decision.
