Around The Grounds / ..Stressin'.. ((Albus please!))
August 13, 2011, 06:42:23 AM
Jessie burst out of the main doors, stalking off onto the Hogwarts grounds. She needed a walk.  Badly.  The warm air felt fantastic on her face, and the breeze rustled her hair ever so slightly.  With her hands stuffed into her pockets, Jessie tried to take some calming breaths.  She needed to relax her angrily stomping feet.  She had been hoping for more of a stroll than a march.

Once Jessie had herself under control, she started to think about what had gone wrong.  She was so stressed lately. Jessie's schoolwork had been getting the best of her, and she was ignoring her friends... a lot.  She had been secluding herself from everyone that was a distraction to her, especially Albus.  If they started talking, Jessie knew she wouldn't get any work done.  So she had taken to doing her homework on her four-poster bed with the curtains drawn.  She had really only intended to do this for a week or so, but it had been almost three, and people were getting upset.

Leah had finally said something about it, and it had pushed Jessie's stress level over the edge.  She just hoped that she didn't have to have a similar conversation with Albus.  She wasn't sure if she could handle it at the time.

Without realizing it, Jessie had been zoning out, staring at her feet absentmindedly as she walked.  Before she had time to notice, Jessie had walked right into someone.  She startled herself so much that she had fallen over.  Her heart was racing from the sudden surprise, and her breathing had sped up too.  When she looked up to see who she had bumped into, her breathing seemed to stop altogether.

((Sorry, I couldn't really think of anything :/))

General / I'm back!
July 23, 2011, 02:17:05 AM
Hello everyone!

After watching the HP movie, I came to this startling realization: All of the HP movies have been made.  Sure, there might be continuations and such, but it just won't be the same. It won't be the original. So then I decided that there would always be one place where HP would continue, and that place was here! I know I haven't been around for a very long time, but I was thinking of trying to get back into it.  What do you say? Anyone want to RP? :)

The Lake / A much needed talk
March 8, 2010, 10:31:08 AM
Jessie paced back and forth by the Lake.  It was surprisingly deserted, mostly in part to a cold wind that blew endlessly through the trees.  Her jeans and thin sweatshirt only kept out some of the draft, and goosebumps were beginning to raise on her arms and legs.

She had put a small note on Albus' pillow, that read:

I think we need to talk... I'll be at the lake.

Jessie

She hated doing things like that, so removed.  It seemed like she was trying to hide from him... and the note was so typical for a break up! But she wasn't planning on breaking up with him, she really wasn't.  All she planned to do tonight was... talk!  It had been so long since they had last sat down together, and life seemed to have been moving much too fast.

Gryffindor / (Just... Thinking)
March 5, 2010, 01:21:24 AM
Leah sat on the roof of Hogwarts, alone.  It was night, and very dark.  Normally there were more people up here, but not tonight.  It was cold and windy, and looked like rain.  Dark clouds covered the sky except for surprisingly, not the moon.  The bright half-sphere had found a gap in the endless clouds, and poked it's light through, like a little beacon of hope to all who saw it.

She was seated near the edge of the roof, and hugged her knees to her chest.  Even in a long sleeve t-shirt and jeans, the wind cut easily through to her skin, raising goosebumps on her arms and legs.  However, her feet were bare, and pale.  She moved her toes back and forth, moving around the loose rocks of concrete.

Although most people came to the roof when their emotions were at the extremes, Leah wasn't like that.  She wasn't crying or anything, just... thinking.

Around The Grounds / {Too} Many (Questions)
June 28, 2009, 11:37:06 PM
Leah stumbled through the halls of Hogwarts, tears flowing unevenly down her face.  She was long past trying to stop them, and as a consequence, there was a small trail of tears leading from the Gryffindor Common room all the way to where she was now.  She was following the familiar stairs and hallways that could only lead to one place.

She clung to the walls, still stumbling forward.  If she didn't keep moving, she would collapse onto the floor.  She turned one last corner, seeing just what she was looking forward.  She ran forward, tripping and falling into the heavy wooden door.  She pounded on it with her fist and then crumpled against the far wall.

Leah hadn't felt emotion like this in a very long time.  It was nearly uncontrollable.  She only knew of one place to go when something like this happened.

Ginny Weasley's office.

General / Boyfriend Trouble
May 10, 2009, 11:13:08 AM
Hey... I know it's hard for girls out there, so I wanted to make a place for you to let out your grief and/or anger about boys.  Whether or not you're dating them, feel free to let go of your emotions (just not on other people).  Tons of girls get super worked up about a guy and then take it out on someone else.  This is just in order to maybe make the world a little bit better... and nicer.

((By the way, feel free to talk about your HPF relationships too!))

General / School
May 8, 2009, 07:10:27 AM
This is a thread where you can talk about what happened to you today in school!

Today I did my book talk on the book the Darwin Awards... I got a 20/20, but I wasn't really surprised... I've done one of these each trimester and gotten a 20/20 on all of them...

My teacher always rights down your score and thoughts about your book talk.  He has scrawling handwriting, so it's kind of hard to make out in places...

The Darwin Awards
I agree; There are funny stories even though they are morbid.
I like the guidelines for eligibility for a Darwin Award.
Good stories that you chose especially the buffalo.
You could explain why these are called the Darwin Awards.  I doubt many in the audience knew.
I've enjoyed six of your book talks, Jessie.  Interesting job again.

Of course, the audience was my class, and he is under the impression that almost all of them are totally brain dead... and some are.

Harry Potter Fan Fiction / Story of My Life
May 2, 2009, 03:09:04 AM
My eyes opened just a crack.  Everything was hazy and... bright.  I thought to myself, It's never bright at 7....  I blinked a few times and rubbed my eyes.  What was going on?  As my eyes began to adjust to the light, I rolled over and looked out of the window.  This was definitely wrong. So much sunshine was unthinkable at the time I woke up.

I rubbed my eyes again, then looked at the clock.  Without my glasses, I had to squint at the alarm clock.  The numbers wavered in my vision.  9...34.  9:34. It was 9:34.  Did I miss the bus? I must have missed my alarm, but wouldn't Mom have woken me up? Did I sleep through that too?  As my mind began to think the worst, it hit me.

Today was our day off!I sighed, smiling.  I got out of bed slowly, just because I could.  I stood and turned on my radio, looking about my room.  I saw several piles of clothes and random things.  I thought with a laugh of the night before. I had organized everything in my room into separate piles, to make cleaning my room today a little easier.  The only catch was that it had taken me until midnight.

I began to pick up the piles and take them to the different parts of my house that they truly belonged in.  It was amazing how much stuff got transferred to my room.  Half of it wasn't even mine.  Once my room was clean I opened the computer.  I took my time replying to all the posts that had built up on HPF.  I ate breakfast, a perfect banana with creamy peanut butter and chocolate chips.

I called my friends, organizing our movie plans for later that afternoon.  I walked up the stairs and found that I had left my radio on.  I hardly ever turned it off, so that shouldn't come as much of a surprise to me, and yet it still did.

I climbed in the shower, loving the warmth. As I got out, I wondered what I should wear.  I had recently cut up my jeans and made them jean shorts, but they were just that... short. They fit, but it had to be really warm to wear them.

I walked into my parents room and looked at the electric thermometer my dad had bought my mom for her birthday.  I glanced down at the digital numbers, not really comprehending what I saw. Hm... 80 degrees.  I looked back down at the small device, confused.  It still said 80.  I started to walk away, then ran back and checked once more to be sure. Definitely 80.  I screamed.  It was warm!

It skipped back to my room.  It must be fate.  A very upbeat song came out of the radio, and I began to dance.  I searched my room for some good clothes, still dancing.  I settled for shorts and a t-shirt, beaming.  I went into the bathroom to dry my hair.  I decided to flip my hair out today, instead of my normal curled under look.  My short blonde hair worked into the style easily, though a few stray hairs tried to be difficult. My bangs puffed out just enough, and I smiled.  Today was going to be perfect.

((This is going to be what actually happens in my life... almost exactly, but I might change some things to make it more interesting...))

Leah lay sprawled on the forest floor, wearing nothing but a ripped up tank top and what used to be pants.  She had bruises and cuts all over, which was odd since they normally healed right away.  Beads of sweat had formed on her brow, some of which were old and had dried, others had just recently formed.  Her arms were above her head, bruised and red, one leg was twisted at an odd angle.  Leah was completely unconcious, and had been for quite some time.

Gryffindor / Truth or Dare
January 4, 2009, 07:50:33 AM
Leah sat on the floor of the girls dormitory, hugging a pillow.  Her knees were crossed, showing her ladybug slippers.  A bright smile was plastered on her face, as it was almost permanently now.

She wore her pajamas, a pair of short shorts, and a longsleeve shirt.  Girls around her formed a circle, all clad in their pajamas.  They were playing truth or dare, and many of the most recent questions had aroused a fit of giggles that forced them to muffle the sound with pillows.  It was someone's turn to ask Leah a question, and she sat anxiously, like a  little kid on Christmas day.

Around The Grounds / Making a Christmas Present
December 31, 2008, 12:47:03 PM
((Albus, this is about Jessie making your present.  Please don't read any farther.))

Jessie stood in the forest, angry.  She was in a small clearing, and snow covered the ground.  Trees surrounded her on all sides; they too were covered in snow.  It was a winter wonderland, but she took no notice.

It was almost Christmas and she had to give Albus a present.  She was dressed for the weather, barely any skin poked through her many colorful layers. Her coat puffed her out to about twice her size, and her arms couldn't come all the way down.

Her hands were held out, covered with mittens.  She was trying to make a bubble that would be flexible, keep cold air in, keep warm air out, and be close fitting to a human body.  She wasn't sure what element to use, but she had tried everything.  She was running out of ideas, and also running out of patience.

Around The Grounds / Will [spring] ever come?
December 28, 2008, 01:37:51 PM
Jessie scuffled along gloomily.  It was still technically winter, but the snow was only partially melted, creating an ugly sort of slush.  It was still cold, making it all the worse.

Her ladybug rainboots pushed through the slush easily, keeping her feet dry, but they did little in the way of warmth.  She was huddled against the cold with her book bag slung over one shoulder.  This was her least favorite time of year, and she didn't mind showing it.  A frown was etched on her small, normally happy face.  Her lips were near to chattering.

Role Play Character Bios / Jessica Anne Hughes (modified)
December 21, 2008, 01:48:33 PM
Name: Jessica Anne Hughes
AGE: 15
Height:5 ft. 2 in.
Appearance: She has long blonde hair with all different shades, and has straight across bangs.  Her bright blue eyes bring out the light blonde, and sometimes her bangs cover her eyes when they get too long.  She is skinny, and has a perfect dancing body. Her legs are long and have muscle hidden within their rippling depths.  She has feet just slightly too big for her body, but buys plenty of shoes to make up for it.  Her skin is baby soft.  She has a darling face with smooth pink lips.
RACE: Witch
Parents: Fiona and Ein Hughes.  Fiona is a muggle and Ein is a wizard.
Personality: Loves who she is, but sometimes wishes that she could be a vampire like her adopted sister Leah. Leah often shows off around Jessie, which is when Jessie wishes that she could show Leah what she could do.  She often feels insignificant next to Leah.  She is fun and bubbly and tries not to care what people think, but it still gets to her a little.  She feels very open to most people, but is also really shy at times.
Likes:  Her favorite food is corn on the cob and loves the color blue.  She has a total crush on Albus and can't stop thinking about him.  She loves him with all of her heart, but doesn't know how to tell him.  She loves the forest and when she cries she loves to sit in womping willows.
Dislikes: She hates feeling left out and secluded, although she sometimes just wants to be left alone.  She hates her temper that occasionally flares up and the slightest things.  She hates all of her pet peeves but can never think of what they are until they happen.
Power: Typical wizard powers, but can control trees really well because of her mom's side of the family, the Willows.
History:Born and raised in Australia.  She was always considered a freak because she could do weird things.  One day she got a letter from Hogwarts, and so her whole family left Australia and moved to England to be closer to Hogwarts.  She left her too closest friends behind who had stuck by her through it all, and misses them terribly.  She often writes to them when she is sad, and visits them on holidays.  Her family adopted Leah when she knocked on their door 17 years ago.  She needed help, so they took her in.  After a few years when she didn't change at all she explained everything to them.  She has been a permanent part of the family ever since, though she bit Jessie once and then had to suck the venom out as a punishment, that's why Jessie has a crescent shaped scar on her left foot.

Comments: I was writing this with Mira, and she likes to make fun of me, so I added the part that says, "rippling depths".  I didn't mean to insinuate that she has fat rolling down her thighs, but that her legs are strong and proportionate.  She may sound like a Barbie, but doesn't have boobs too big for her body.  Her are actually

General / Mira is grounded
December 14, 2008, 11:53:32 AM
Hello all! I am here to report the sad news that Lola_La_Fringe7/Mira/Jackie is grounded.  She will probably be grounded for quite some time, and I am not sure when she will be set free.

Her mother saw a thread in which Jackie and Nate become "close" (*cough*).  Then her dad saw too, doubling the damage.  Seeing as this is a federal crime in all fifty states, she's gone for a long time.  She misses you all, and hopes that you can find it in your hearts to be patient and forgive her.

I will send any word or idea of when she will be set free.

Black.  Nothing but complete black.  I lit my wand, which cast an eerie glow upon the walls.  I jumped back in surprise.  My back slammed against the wall behind me, and my small frame slid to the floor.  Four sturdy cement walls surrounded me completely, and only one small window broke the never ending gray wall.  The window was nothing special.  Just three iron bars, set just above my reach, that led to the dark hallway beyond.  Listening carefully, I could hear the cries of the other prisoners here.  The guards had let me keep my wand, but enchantments only let me used certain spells.

Laying down on the small cot that creaked with old age, I placed her head on my arm.  Swirls of dust flew up from the old cot, making me cough.  My blonde hair spilled out behind me mixing with the dust and showing it's many different tones.  Some almost white, others almost brown.  My bright blue eyes began to fill with tears.  As the first began to spill over, I whispered, Help me Albus, before settling into an uneasy sleep.

I dreamed of him.  My life.  My love.  The only thing I ever would want or need.  We were in a small meadow.  Walking hand in hand.  Everything was so perfect and blissful.  Suddenly, it was black.  There was a brilliant flash of green light that blinded me.  I heard a scream.  Was it my own?  Realization hit me like a train at full speed.  Tears raced down my cheeks. My body slouched over the still warm corpse lying on the stone ground.  Albus.

I awoke, screaming.  The cot was soaked and yet tears still flowed down my face.  Gasping for air, I sat up and pulled my knees up to my chest.  Arms wrapped tight around them, I tried to pull myself back into me.  To retain my sanity.

The darkness seemed to have carried on forever, and yet, I realized, the darkness had only just begun.

Around The Grounds / <The art of balance>
October 11, 2008, 05:54:35 AM
The wind blew softly, making the trees rustle and sing.  Jessie balanced, her foot next to her knee. She extended it outward and swung it around so it was behind her.  She was doing a combination of dance stretches and Yoga that her teacher had taught her before she left.  Her legs spread apart, and her arms swung over her head and then suddenly her head was at her knee and her hands around her ankle.

((I'm eventually going to practice the splits (in the RP) and then I'll show my actual progress in the splits (How far I am off of the ground)))

General / Riddles

If you know any riddles just post them here and then when you figure out the answer to one just say it!

Here's one:

If you have two buckets, one is a 3 gallon and one is a 5 gallon.  You also have a hose.  How do you make exactly 4 gallons if you don't have anything to measure with but the buckets?

Have you read the Immortals Series? If you haven't I suggest that you do because they're really good!  The actual book names are Wild Magic, Wolf-speaker, Emperor Mage, and the Realms of the gods.  They are written by Tamora Pierce.

Harry Potter Fan Fiction / Just Another Fan Fiction
June 20, 2008, 03:00:20 AM
Christine walked down the empty hallway to her apartment.  She had bought it in the muggle world almost right after her graduation from Hogwarts.  She lived on the top floor, and had the biggest apartment in the complex, if you don't count the owner.

She stuck her key in the lock and jiggled it a few times, letting her keychains ring like bells against each other, before she pushed open the door.  Breathing in the fresh air from her open windows, she called the familiar words, *Honey, Zoey, Buddy, Kiwi, Rosco, Raven, Dory, Nemo, Sunshine, Lightning, I'm home!* Soon two dogs, two cats, two birds, and two hamsters had come scurrying to her.  She petted each one, putting the birds and hamsters of the table so they wouldn't get stepped on.  She walked over to the fish bowl and muttered, *I didn't forget about you guys!* The two fish swam to th edge of the glass in happiness.

Christine closed the door and went to fill up the watering can.  She watered all of her plants, most of them tropically colored, and then sat down on the couch, with the animals crowded around her.  One bird on each shoulder, the hamsters on her lap, the dogs on her right and the cats on her left.  She turned on the T.V. and watched the news.

Christine had been living in the same apartment for about four years.  She had enough money to buy her own house, and yet chose not to.  She worked at the zoo as a marine biologist.  She took care of the dolphins mainly, and most other water-dwelling creatures too.  Everyday she rode her bike to work with her scuba gear and what-not strapped onto the back.

She had aquired the rights to have pets in the apartment due to her work as assistent manager of the complex.  Christine had many friends in the complex, most of whom were having trouble paying the rent.  Her best friend was about to get evicted 2 years ago, when Christine volunteered to help pay her rent.  She soon was helping nearly everyone in the building.

Christine turned and looked at the white board.  On it was everyone's names who owed her money.  She let them pay it in their own time, however.  Quietly she muttered, *Gina owes me $400? Well that's about a full month of rent I suppose.... I don't really remember loaning her the money, but she's honest, and should be able to pay me back within the month.*

((Please respond! And be honest critiques, because I want this to be the best it can be!))

Gryffindor / Vampire Hang Out
June 7, 2008, 11:28:11 PM
Leah sat in a chair in the corner of the common room by herself.  She wanted to talk to someone, but only if they came to her.  She  was reading a book and was halfway through it.  She was about to close the book and head upstairs, when she heard footsteps.  She  kept reading, but was only half aware of the words on the page.  She concentrated mostly on the fact that the footsteps were coming from the boys side, and they were light.  ~Definitely not a heavy-set person~ She thought to herself, as she checked off all the boys that it couldn't be in her head.
