As you wish  ;)...

"Good evening, and welcome to Durmstrang, Madam" he said with an unusual tone in his voice.  Ella suspected it to be annoyance.  "You may address me as Professor Karkaroff.  I am the headmaster of Durmstrang and you will obey my every order from this moment on.  Are we clear?"  He raised one of his perfectly shaped eyebrows and extended his hand, another sneer upon his features.

Ella simply stood, staring into his eyes.  Her expression was unreadable and Karkaroff suddenly looked furious.  The students around her looked fearful of what Karkaroff would do to someone who didn't accept his open hand.  Again, all except the mysterious boy standing alone in the shadows.

Ella finally released her look on him and her eyes fell to look at the ground.  She bent her feet in towards each other and wrinkled her toes, feeling uncomfortable about the water on her feet.  Karkaroff shifted his gaze down to the floor to her feet, then tilted his head over hers and saw the puddle behind her.  He frowned and angrily shoved her out of the way, then ordered the schools caretaker, who had also been watching the scene, to clean it up immediately.

Ella's wet feet slipped over the tiled floor as Karkaroff shoved her, and she fell hard landing on her side painfully.  She let out a small yelp as she landed then she bowed her head in agony, her hair cascading around her face, hiding her tears from view.  Suddenly she felt herself being lifted gently to her feet.  She lifted her head and found herself face to face with the handsome boy from the shadows.

The corner of his mouth curved into a perfect half smile, and he let go of her softly.  His green eyes searched hers just as much as hers were searching him.  He lifted his hand and ran it through his short-cut brown hair.  She lifted her hand too, and wiped her tears away, a small smile flickering across her face.  The boy extended his muscular hand to her slowly, being careful and taking note of how she reacted before.

"Hey, you alright? The name's Saba-"
"EHEM!" Karkaroff cut the boy off before he could finish.  "That will be enough conversation for one day thank you Mr.Houlguin.  Ella has had enough attention I think, don't you quite agree Ella." He stated his last words more than asked, and with that he grabbed her by the arm and picked up her bag, then half pulled, half dragged her down the corridor towards where her room would be.  The boy crossed his arms and watched the two continue down the hall, fire sparking in his eyes.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine.' So that was nice.

CHAPTER TWO

~FORGETTING THE PAST~
[/i]

Professor Karkaroff slammed the door behind Ella as he shoved her into her room.  He locked it and threatened to throw away the key if she tried any foolish tricks on any other students in the school.  She simply ran to the other side of the room and stared at the door, petrified.  She heard him storm downstairs and begin to curse loudly while walking down the large corridors about what a nuisance 'this child' would be.

Ella waited until she could hear no more of him before she decided to move.  When she did move, only the tiniest steps were taken.  If someone had been watching her, they would have thought she was acting like some scared little mouse, getting ready to steal from a mousetrap.  She took one step after another and after about five tiny footsteps, made it to the side of a small bed.  She gently rested her luggage next to the bed, but didn't take anything out.  She then climbed carefully into bed, without changing into nightclothes, and not bothering to pull the covers over her, but despite all this, she soon fell fast asleep.

The next morning she awoke to freezing cold weather.  Her teeth were chattering madly and her body was shaking quite violently.  She checked her surroundings quickly, almost forgetting where she was, then hoped off her bed and closed the one single window that she had in her room.  Her room was small and dark, the kind that a slave girl would live in.  It was at one of the highest point of the rich castle, and yet was built out of wooden planks.  It had a small circular window in the wall at the end of a small, creaky bed.  There was nothing else in the room but the bed, Ella and her single bag of luggage.

After wrapping herself in a comfy black jumper and tucking her bare legs under her (she had been wearing a small skirt), she began to warm up.  Just to be sure she didn't catch a cold, she thought, she would hold a flame close to her heart, also it would make her feel safer in this new place.  After a few moments she had a dancing flame in her palms, she smiled and watched it happily, the first time she had smiled since seeing that boy.

The fire made her think of the boy, who was he? Where was he from? Why did she find him so interesting?  So many questions, she didn't dare ask though.  Ella didn't like it very much.  Why couldn't she go back to her past? That's when it happened.  A flashback of her past, she gasped as it happened before her eyes, a small wooden room, filled with blazing flames.  It took her some time to realise that it wasn't a flashback at all, it was actually happening!

Ella screamed as she realised what she had done, she reached over and snatched up her luggage, then ran to the door and began banging on it and screaming for help.  Minutes passed and she found no luck, so she ran back through the flames and landed hard against the window.  She stopped for a moment, looking down at her clothes and hands, untouched and unburned by the flames.  She smiled quickly and reached out daringly to the flames, knowing how stupid it must seem, but just as she suspected, nothing happened.  The fire licked at her skin playfully, almost beckoning her to join it, but she knew better, she turned to the window, thrust her fist through it's glass with a loud smash, cutting her hand.  Then she threw her luggage out and jumped out herself.

The fall seemed forever, although she seemed to feel like she was flying, to her relief, she realised she was.  Her arms had turned into pearly white wings and her feet had become talons.  She swooped down towards the ground absolutely bewildered with her transformation, unfortunately it wore off before she was safely back down on the ground, she couldn't hold transfiguration for very long seeing as she had never been taught it before in her life.

Luckily, because of the cold, it had been snowing.  She landed quite hard in the snow, fracturing her arm badly.  She winced in terrible pain and looked up, having heard footsteps not too far away.  Her hopes had been that the boy had come to help her again, but instead she came face to face yet again with the leather shoes of Professor Karkaroff.

CHAPTER THREE

~FLIGHT OF THE FIRE WHITE PHOENIX~

Ella slowly sat herself up, leaning against her good arm.  A crowd had already gathered and this was the second time she had been confronted by the many accusing yet curious eyes of the students, and also the second time Karkaroff had been almost steaming from his ears in anger.

Ella opened her mouth to speak but Karkaroff simply waved a hand to silence her, she took no notice.  "Professor, I'm ever so sorry, but the room was cursed I tell you!  One moment I was minding my own business, the next thing I knew, the whole room was on fire!" she tried desperately to explain.  The other students burst into fits of laughter at the stupidity of the girl and some of the students began to act dazed like they were in a trance, then began to panic, imitating her.

For the first time, she turned to them with angry dagger tipped eyes, daring them to mimic another movement.  She then turned back to Karkaroff's tomato red face.  "Please Sir, you must understand I didn't mean for anything to go wrong!" she pleaded, fearing what he might decide to do with her.  "That's enough Miss...erm...Miss...err...That's enough madam!" and with that he motioned for her to follow him, leaving her to carry her own luggage with her one good arm, he lead her to the Hospital Wing of the school.

The Doctor seemed nice enough; he gave her a purple coloured liquid to drink and the pain in her arm subsided soon after.  He cleaned up the bloodied arm and then told her that her arm should be better by the next morning, but she shall have to stay overnight.  The professor left almost immediately after arriving at the wing, and Ella never saw him for the rest of that day and the coming night.

She made herself comfortable in one of the hospital beds and lay down under the blankets, staring at the ceiling and watching the flames flicker on the candles held by the chandelier above her.  She couldn't help but wonder, how the window in her room had suddenly been locked, after the fire started.  It had caused her to have to break the glass and jump.  When she had closed it earlier due to the cold, she hadn't locked it.

Ella also couldn't help wondering how she had turned into that white phoenix, and flown almost to safety.  She didn't remember ever being taught transfiguration, yet she seemed to naturally have a knack for it.  Her next thought was the wonder of why Karkaroff hadn't used her last name when he was addressing her.  Instead he always insisted on using 'Madam', yet Ella noticed that he never did this to any of the other female students.  Was it because he didn't actually know her real last name?  Or was it because he was too afraid to use it?
