i've never understood why harry potter books being in the children section, for one whens the last time you saw a 700 pages, and one that has the word "s-l-u-t" in it (book six did)!!!

next time they should put it in a more appropriate location, well i guess maybe its only here that they did that. but still all my friends say its a childrens book but my thirty year old uncle still reads em.

so yeah....

I don't recall seeing that word in book six, but  I think they are at a childrens reading level so I guess that's why they'd be in the childrens section.  That's my best bet.  I don't think it's a childrens book, I think everybody should read them becasue they are such simple reading, and really great books!

I remember that being in book 5 not 6, when Ginny and Harry were kicked out of the library. And so what? It's one word, its not going to warp the little kidies minds, they've more than likely heard it from their parents before. And depending upon how young they are they might not know what it means and if they ask their parents, they can decide whether or not to answer. Don't crucify J.K. for one little word. And it should be in the children's section, since its marketed mostly towards youngsters and is extremely easy reading. Older sections of bookstores have Plato and stuff, HP is where it belongs in the young section.

still an editor wouldn't want and discredit for allowing even just one word slip by, and not all parents are as leniant as yours and mine are.

and it was in book six , i believe about the time ron was "snogging" his girlfriend, i belive it was hermione who said it , but it could have been ginny

I really don't consider it a childrens book anymore. Its original audience was 11,and more  and more of them are reading the books because of the movies, but the original audience grew with the books.anyway, its not exactly cat in the hat.
