It's always fun to speculate.  Personally I think Snape is still Dumbledore's man..and there were a bunch of clues.
Dumbledore was so weakened by that poison that he was sliding down the pillar..He had been in a hurry for Harry to get Snape when they got back to Hogsmede.  I think Dumbledore was dying.  Snape is an accomplished occulumens..he would have known what Dumbledore was thinking.   I think Dumbledore was pleading for Snape to kill him and carry on with spying on Voldemort.  As Harry is running after Snape..Snape keeps yelling out pointers.  Not until you learn to do them in your head Potter (spells).  No unforgivable curses for you..you don't have the heart for them.  He's just fending off Harry's curses not even trying to hurt him and stopped others from hurting Harry (saying Voldemort wanted to kill Harry himself) but I'll betcha ole Voldemort wouldn't have cried over Harry's death by Snape's hand.  He also didn't join the deatheaters in trying to kill any of the Phoenix order.  Dumbledore was no bodys fool he knew why he trusted Snape and I think (in spite of the fact he doesn't like harry) that he's still working for the right group.

That leaves out the unbreakable vow, which you can't forget...

It fits perfectly BOTH ways....   he always has been a bit of a shifty character and if you look in the end of the 4th book, voldemort says   one of his deatheaters has left him forever, one is too cowardly to return (Karkaroff???) and one is in hogwarts.
one of these has to be referring to snape...but which???
It would work that he is dumbledores man....as this way he gives voldemort a false sense of security.  see my posts in the other snape topic thing. cos  i wrote lots of valid stuff there...   snape rocks :D

::) Where do you fit in the unbreakable vow?! He is evil.  The only reason Dumbledore wanted to get to Snape so bad when he was poisened was becasue he trusted Snape.  He knew about Draco trying to kill him, but he couldn't have known about Snape.  How can you think Snape would be good when he took the Unbreakable Vow to kill Dumbledore? Dumbledore wouldn't have wanted to die! And why would he have said, "Snape please...."  That doesn't sound like he wanted to die to me!

I have to agree with Sue.  There are TONS of hints in HBP about Snape staying loyal to Dumbledore and the Order.  Plus, the unbreakable vow is only between Snape and Draco.  Just because Snape's promised to protect Draco, doesn't mean he isn't still loyal to Dumbledore.  As much as Draco talks the talk about being a Death Eater, he just doesn't have the heart.  And Snape and Dumbledore know it.

Plus, at the end Dumbledore is simply begging Snape to kill him and put him out of his misery.  "Snape, please..." is just Dumbledore asking for Snape to kill him because he's in agony.

Not to mention that if Dumbledore says Snape is on the good side, then I still believe him!  :)

But I'm NOT saynig Snape is a good guy. But, probably like Draco, he's no Death Eater (at least not anymore).  I think the end of the 7th book will have Snape assisting with the killing of one (or more) of the horcruxes, and Harry finishing off Voldermort.

Overall, I liked HBP, but it took a while to get interesting.  I still think Order of the Phoenix is my favorite.

Snape made the unbreakable vow to protect Draco who had to kill Dumbledore and he knew that Draco couldn't do it and he (Snape) would, so how do you call that loyal to Dumbleodre?!

Snapes_mistress

If snape and dumbledore did ALREADY have a plan to trick voldemort into a false sense of trusting snape (when maybe snape is really on dumbledores side..) then wat harm is it for snape to make that vow when he knows he had to kill dumbledore anyways?
see what i mean? if all planned, and snape knew he would have to kill dumbledore anyway, making the vow is just another good idea to trick voldemort into believing snape is working for him.    tho i guess u can never be sure...jk rowling has left it open to go either way.
