one she  gave birth to harry (which hes one of the most powerful wizards ever)
and 2 she gave him the protection to gaurd him from Voldimort so now that he is still
alive he has a chance to defeat him

before dieing harrys mom actually gave harry a very strong shield .....which voldermort coulndt fight
and the avada kedavara curse back fired (vol. din die but his powers weakened)
that shield was so strong that , that wud still help harry ,  if he goes to the same house where he was attacked
hell be very safe there(thats what albus dumbledore says in almost every book :)).......there will be no harmm caused by voldermort......

Maybe she is the reason Snape turned over to the good side (or at least Dumbledore thought so).
If I'm not mistaken, there are hints that Snape could have loved Harrys mother. (The memory Harry saw, where Snape just made an exam - the parchment with her initials?)

That could be the reason, he hated harrys father so much.

And when he realized, that Voldemort would kill Harrys mother, he turned over. Something like the "power of love" Dumbledore believes in.

Anyway - I hope that all these things are revealed in the last book - why Dumbledore always trusted Snape.. etc..

snape use to call harrys mother a "mudblood"
and it was james potter who wrote harrys mothers initials that are"l.e" on his snitch
this stands for lily  evans
actually lily was kind to snape
coz he had no frens and james and his gang that is(sirius , lupin and james and wormtail(peter petigrew)) used to bully him all the time
remeber in that memory when lily had a fight with james bout troubling snape
she said"why do u go after hi,m:
james said"the trouble is that he "exists"" well thats fonny lol...........
snape loathed  her and james
he also called her mudblood oin that memory

And about Snape - for me, the most interesting part about the 7th book is not who is going to die but to get an answer on which side Snape is and to know the reason why dumbledore trusted him...

harrys mom sacrificed herself for him to live so that's why harry couldn't be killed by voldemort harrys moms love duhhh ::)
