((Ok before I begin, I want to let you know. If you've read my previous story(s) you will be able to tell I am a diehard sucker for a romantic tragedy. So if you want to read a story with all action and mindless junk, you have the wrong fan fic.  If you want something thought out for weeks that is purposeful, please read this. Luv ya!  ;) ))

The streets were dark with only a couple of lamps to illuminate her way.  Her shoes clicked anxiously on the stones, and her gaze flicked from side to side.  She was completely enclosed in a dark black cloak that was only made heavier by the pouring rain.  It made her hair a shade darker, and it clung to her face.

She wore this robe only on trips through the muggle realm to disguise her appearance.  It was tempting to lure one of the muggles into a dark alley.  It would be quite easy. She was very attractive as all other vampires, but if that didn't work, which she was positive it would, she had blinding speed and 'super' strength.  Everything was easy, but only if Jackie wanted to be a monster.  Thus, she was very tempted, but when her thoughts traveled down that path she instinctively thought of her father.

Pain surged through her like someone had just hit her in the stomach with a crowbar.  Her father... dead.  Again her mind flew to a defense mechanism.  Brown eyes, amazing, she thought as the image appeared in her head, but again the pain came.  It wasn't as bad, but it still hurt.  This happened every time she was away from him.  She thought about sneaking away in the middle of the night, and felt bad about it, but he couldn't know she came here.  It was best.

She was so absorbed in her thoughts, she barely noticed when she reached the door or the run down bar she was looking for.  Not really her ideal meeting place, but Mr. Marks had insisted upon it.  Mr. Marks wasn't the type of guy Jackie usually associated with.  He was sleazy and untrustworthy, but would do anything for money, which Jackie had plenty of.

As she stepped into the bar, all eyes turned on her.  She took off her coat and it revealed the red shirt and jeans that accentuated her figure. After only a second a few drunks came up to her. "Wull... Hullllooooo perty lady." One slurred reaching out his hand.  "What ya gunna dooooo later?"

Jackie smirked, slapping his hand. "Actually I'm going to meet by boyfriend."  The man just smiled and stepped closer, wrapping his greasy arm around Jackie's waist.  "Awe, don't be likeee that lil missssss." He drawled, but the smirk was wiped clean from Jackie's face. "Go away." She said firmly on the edge on anger, but the man just raised his eyebrow. "No! What'll ya doo?" He shouted.

Jackie shrugged and punched him in the face, causing him to fall over and stagger into a table.  Then, surveying the crowd for faces, Jackie saw Mr. Marks.  She quickly walked over to him and sat down.  "Did you get it?" She asked impatiently.  Mr. Marks nodded and slid a small package of tightly bound papers and Jackie returned it with a stack of money.  "Thank you for your troubles." She said curtly, getting up to leave.

As she exited the bar, she saw a figure waiting for her in the rain. "$h*t." She muttered, looking down.

I guess to love another person is to see the face of God."

He looked up. "What are you doing here Jackie?" He asked, curiosity ringing clear in every word. "I'm sorry, Nate, but I could ask you the
Same thing, couldn't I?" Jackie retorted, looking up.

"I followed you, but that's irrelevant."

"How? How is it irrelevant?"

"Jackie." Nate sighed. "Just give me the package I saw you take... Or will I have to come over there and get it myself?"

Jackie smiled and waved them in the air before dropping the heavy cloak and running. The buildings whizzed past as she raced through the streets. She ducked into an alley and turned around. Suddenly though, a thump sounded behind her and arms were around her. She couldn't escape, not because she was too weak, but because her will crumbled in an instant. Their lips met in a soft kiss and the next thing she knew, he was ten feet away, reading the papers. "Da*n." She muttered. Then more loudly she added. "You don't fight fair."

"Never said I did." He murmured smiling, but the smile immediately dropped. "What are these?" He demanded, angrily waving the papers in the air. "Um... attack plans? But not mine!" She said, frantically trying to explain, but she stopped when Nate looked up at her. "Why do you have these?!" He thundered, throwing them to the wet ground.

Jackie gasped and lunged for them before they could be soaked. Now she was wet every where. She huddled over them protectively, frowning. Her eyes narrowed. "I have to protect my father's locket! You wouldn't understand!" She hissed before speeding off into the streets again.

The buildings continued to fly by and Jackie finally stopped outside a shop. She leaned against  the glass display window and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes, but when a thump sounded off to her left. She didn't even turn. "Nate, look, I'm sorry, but-"

A hand clamped over her mouth; it wasn't his. Fighting instincts kicked in and she wound up, punching the attacker. BY the texture of his skin she could tell he was a vampire. Then another pair grabbed her from the back, and another from the side again. She kicked wildly and took out the one behind her, but by then the third had pinned her to thE ground.

The last thing she remembered was a hard finger pushing hard into the pressure point at the base of her skull.
