Leah shook her head.  She was in awe at how fast Jackie's emotions could change.  They had been best friends once.  Now, it seemed as though Jackie hated her with a burning passion.

"Jackie, you left. When you leave without any explanation, after a while, people start to assume that you aren't coming back!" She said, hoping to help her understand that it wasn't Leah's fault at all, but it was Jackie's.

Jackie's face crumbled in sadness and wanting. Now though she wasn't concectrating on Nate. She wanted Leah back as a friend and she had probably just detroyed that chance. But Leah was looking at her like it was all her fault. Anger boiled just under Jackie's skin. Her fault?!

"Do you thing I wanted to leave?! Do you think I chose to run away with no explanation whatsoever? Did you ever ONCE consider it was because I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of me?!" She shouted, clenching her fists. "I didn't expect everything to be the same when I came back!" She said, much more quietly now.

"I was just hoping I was wrong..." Tears melted down her face, staining her light blue shirt. She let out a small hysterical laugh. "You know what? Hope sucks. Life would be so much better without it... Not just, expecting something to happen and being crushed when it doesn't."

Leah shook her head.  She couldn't let herself cry. There was just no way.  If she submitted to tears, then she wouldn't be able to prove her point.

"No, I don't! And I have considered that! I just think that it's a pretty stupid reason to leave! Do you think that people would hang around you if they were afraid of getting hurt? No!"

Leah took a deep breath and calmed herself down before continuing more softly.  "Jackie, if you didn't think that things would be the same, then how could you possibly be mad at me? I missed you Jackie! I thought you were never coming back."

Leah stood up and walked over to Jackie.  "I'm sorry, but I can't help it.  What's done is done.  Can you forgive me?"  She held her arms out for a hug, wondering what Jackie would do.

((Side note: I can come to your cabin this weekend!! XD I'm super pumped! Call me!))

Jackie stopped yelling and spoke softly now. "Yes, I forgive you. You didn't know... But you will never know why I left." She said, laughing a soft hysterical laugh. "You couldn't understand. He was too powerful and I couldn't risk any of you. I care about you all too much."

She cringed inwardly at the thought of the two who were after. One was obsessive, the other was vengeful. The only person she could ever remember meeting them was Nate. But she wouldn't blame him if he forgot about it; just as he forgot about her.

((Hey Jackie! Can you make some new threads? I want to RP more with you!))

"This may sound harsh, but if you don't want to tell me why you left, then it's not important.  All that matters is that you're back! "  Leah said, smiling.  She took Jackie's hands in hers and squeezed the, as if just to make sure that she was really there.

Leah thought she felt Jackie twitch just slightly, but she couldn't be sure.  She shook it off, not wanting to spoil her time with Jackie.

Jackie smiled, but seeing Nate over Leah's shoulder, she looked down. She let go of Leah, and walked over to Nate, forcing herself to talk calmly and not stare at his lips. She looked up into his eyes, and saw half of herself in them. The half of her heart she had left with him.

"I... am sorry for leaving. And... I want you to know I just want you to be happy." She said, softly. "And if being with Leah is what makes you happy, then..." She couldn't finish as she turned away, breathing deeply. This was a bit to much. She stood up and walked over to a tree, leaning against it, holding tears back in their places.

((We aren't in the forest... F.Y.I.))

Leah noticed when Jackie saw Nate.  It was almost impossible not to.  Leah let her go, not turning around to watch.  She wanted to give them the privacy that they deserved.

As he looked up at jackie and how she was so sad he was tempted to give her a hug to comfort her but he didnt. Instead he stood up swiftly and said emotionless,"You left with no explanation." His eyes shown more than what his lips on how he rlly felt.

Jackie frowned at the facade he put up. She had never seen him look at her with this impassive face. It made her somewhat angry, yet sad.

"I know I did. That was my fault, and its why I'm not... mad at you for moving on." She said, putting up an emotionless barrier over her face as well. She grimaced inwardly. Trying not to be mad, she commended to herself.

Leah sat facing the other direction, wishing she could turn around but knowing she shouldn't.  As she listened to their debate, she found it hard not to feel awful about what she had done.  She had betrayed her best friend and let a guy get between them.  She had stolen Nate from her, a guy that Jackie truly deserved.  Would she ever forgive herself?

Nate slid his hand through his shaggy hair. His hair falling on his forhead, covering his eyes. He liked that about his hair, how it could hide so much of his feelings, just like a kid and its blanket. He winced as he heard what he already knew was true about him moving on. "Jackie, why didnt you tell me? why didnt you tell me that you were leaving?" He said more calmly, but still hiding his hurt inside.

Jackie smiled and nearly blushed when he said her name. She got a handle on her emotione before speaking, but the hint of a smile was still on her face. "Because you would have tried to talk me out of it... and probably would have succeded." She said. "I can't risk you or anybody here Nate." She added after a moment of quick thought.

She saw the hurt on his features beneath the surface. He couldn't hide that from her. She knew him too well. She wanted to try to make it all better, to comfort him, but she had gotten this far calmly. She had to make it all the way.

Leah couldn't resist it any longer.  She looked over her shoulder at the two of them and saw the slight smile on Jackie's lips.  When she heard what Jackie said, Leah sprung to her feet.  She was assuming that Jackie meant her as well, and if not, then that was just too bad.

"Can't risk us? What do you mean 'can't risk us'! We could have helped you!"  Leah said.  "I don't know what it is that you want to protect us from, but did you ever think that maybe we would want to help protect you?"

nate

Nate put his hand out, his feet digging, so ready to go grab Leah and hold her in his arms. But he stoppd and didnt do so. It was almost instinct now, to comfort her when she was overwhelmed but he couldnt. He didnt want to hurt Jackie. He just stared off at the ground. Calm down Leah. Shes already been through enough. He replied back in his head.
