He backed away,"It was a bad thing. A very bad thing." He looked around,"I told you i shouldnt tell you because i knew it was wrong." His eyes turned almost grayish brown.

Alice leaned closer to him and rested a hand on his foot, the only part of him that she could easily reach. "Nate, come back." She said softly, locking her eyes with his. The sun hit them just right to make them look like they were glowing, and she knew how powerfull her eyes could be.

Nate lookd up but didnt move. "Youve known how i felt. Why did you have to ask?"

Alice took a deep, unneeded breath and sighed. "Because, I may be a vampire, but I am not perfect. I care for you, Nate, and I don`t want to hurt you like she did." She explained softly.

Nate looked up,"Like who did?" He asked quizically.

"Like Stacey did." Alice mumbled softly. "I can read memories, Nate, just as well as any other physic. I`ve seen and felt what she did to you."

Nate looked up at her,"I can take care of myself, Alice. Stop feeling sorry for me!" He stood up in one swift movement,"Geez im not a lil kid!"He said, his voice full of anger.

Alice lowered her eyes to the ground.

"I didn`t say that you can`t take care of yourself, Nate, I just said that I don`t want to hurt you." She lowered her voice. "You`ve seen too much pain, and I don`t want to cause you more."

Alice tilted her head slowly.

"I`ve seen her play it through her mind a thousand times. And yours. I can`t close off my mental powers like you seem to do. She thinks it`s her fault. She takes the blame. You have been hurt. I don`t want to cause you more pain when I would just be doing the same thing." She said softly.

He rubbd his neck trying to think of somthing to say. His voice broke as he tried to make it clear," Then just be my f*cking friend..."

Alice looked up at Nate slowly, her reflective eyes meeting his.
"I`ve been trying." She said, her voice barely a whisper.

Nate looked up at her, finally getting the picture. He looked dazed, like somthing had hit him hard. "I got to go," he said fastly undr his breath. And before she could even reply or react he left, left just like that. He disappeared into the forest, nevr stopping just kept on going.
