I think with this particular scene it's Ron and Hermione accepting that Harry's going off on this journey with Dumbledore alone, and I reckon the courtyard scene is right before Harry leaves, but this scene in the dorms is probably when he first tells Ron and Hermione about it?

Alls I know is that it probably got delayed because
a) Warner thought that since The Dark Knight did so well, that Harry Potter 6 can't beat it, or
b) Quantum of Solace.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is more enjoyable and better made than its predecessor. Paced well and effectively balancing thrills and laughs. Hogwarts looks more like a real place and less like a movie set this time around. The characters and sets have a familiarity that helps make this film.
