Hufflepuff / Re: practice makes perfect?
July 11, 2010, 11:21:44 AM
Faith looked up from the spiral as someone else entered the common room and laid down on the couch next to her chair. She looked stressed and very worn out- physically and emotionally. Faith, knowing water as well as she did, could detect the lingering sweet-smelling moist air that hovers around lakes on her.
"How was the lake?" She inquired, Faith had been thinking about going down there herself after dinner, but instead decided to practice fire. She regretted that decision.

Hufflepuff / practice makes perfect?
July 7, 2010, 03:48:26 AM
Faith sat in the quiet common room, it was late and mostly emptied. She greatly appreciated the lack of activity; she was trying very hard to concentrate and not lose her temper. She was staring into the fireplace at the flickering tongues of orange-y fire trying to control them. No matter how much she worked at it, the fire jumped about in it's usual random way, not listening to her. It was nothing like water, supple, and easy to bend. Fire had a mind of it's own that Faith would never understand.
She slumps back in her chair, irritated at her lack of ability with three of the elements. Turning her head to the right, she sees a glass of water and it gives her an idea. She turns back to the fire and clicks her fingers; water pours down, dousing the flames with a soft hiss. This act however only gets her some unwanted looks from the remaining people in the commons, because it had just gotten considerably colder. Faith begins tugging on strands of her hair coming down from the bun, frustrated with herself. She poises her finger several inches above the surface of the water glass and spins her finger clock-wise. The water follows her finger obediently, forming a spiral suspended in mid-air.

Around The Grounds / Re: evening by the lake

Faith smiled in acknowledgment to Stacey's welcome. She did like it here so far. And she had indeed heard about the forest, some pretty bad things too. But the lake...? Faith never really had much reason to fear the water, as it listened to her so well. But she had in fact not heard of anything living in it that could be too threatening.

"hm, well i know about the giant squid. lots of stories about that." Faith turned around briefly to the lake behind her to look at the huge ripples being made by the lake's most known inhabitant.

It was befuddling to Faith, with half a conversation going on then starting another. She then addressed Aiden remembering he had asked her a question.

"My classes are great, if you don't count history of magic. It's worse than the muggle history classes I took in the United States as a little kid."
Faith already felt like she was talking too much, but she didn't want to seem put-off ish.

Faith looked up as a new voice came towards her. Still heading towards the tree where she had begun the evening, she replied
"yeah, I'm Faith." she said smiling.
Faith tensed up a little at seeing another person come up to her. But maybe she would get better at this getting to know new people thing.

Faith smiled at his light humor. She was feeling a little less intimidated now.
"All the basic classes along with Arithmancy." said Faith as she began wading back out of the lake, motioning for Aiden to come with her. She was getting tired of standing and the water was now a little to cold for her liking.

"oh." Faith, being quiet around people she doesn't know well, was running out of things to say. And making conversation with people she just met was not one of her strong points. On top of that, she was becoming more intimidated by the second by Aiden's age and confidence.
"Um, so which is your house? I'm a hufflepuff." Faith asked in an attempt to keep talking.

"Yes I suppose so. It's so busy here. Still adusting I guess." Faith said watching him dangle his fingers in the water.
"I haven't seen you in any of my classes, you're not in my year are you?" Faith pondered. Faith moved her toes in the water, now watching the swirling cloud of mud fill the water around her legs.

Faith jumped a little at his voice, she didnt know that anyone was near the lake. She turned and smiled at him.
"Yes. This is actually my third day here." Faith said consciously. She was trying to be friendly, as she knew she could be far too shy sometimes. Faith walked through the water to Aiden.
"Im Faith" she said, holding out her hand to introduce herself.

Around The Grounds / evening by the lake
June 9, 2010, 11:09:00 AM
Faith was leaning against an old tree near the black lake. It was evening and nearly everybody was in the great hall eating dinner. The sun was setting, and the view of golden light reflecting off of dark water was quite similar to the one Faith would see at home. It was beautiful. A slight breeze picked up and faith smiled. It had been a while since she felt the wind run it's gentile fingers through her hair. She reached up and let down her hair combing the knots out of it with her hands. The she stood and went to wade in the lake. The water was cool and the mud freezing. It all reminded Faith of when she was a young girl doing the exact same Thing. but then she had her closest muggle friend with her. Faith didnt have many friends at hogwarts yet, but she was getting there. Faith turned towards the castle, there were a few people slowly making there way down through the grounds having finished dinner early.

Role Play Character Bios / Faith King
June 6, 2010, 11:42:14 AM
Name: Faith King

Age: 15

Height: 5'4"

Appearance: Faith has dark (almost black), wavy hair that falls gracefully to her waist when she wears it down, which she does not do often. Her hair is usually up in some sort of bun that varies day-to-day. Her eyes are a soft blue, with a little gray. Depending on what Faith is wearing, you can see more of the blue or more of the gray. She is white, but still has a considerably dark skin tone. She is thin, but not very 'curvy'. She has a sturdy build that would give her an advantage in a fight if she really needed it. She has a bad nervous habit of biting her nails, so they are rough at the ends, and never painted. Faith loves to wear brightly colored clothes. Mostly she wears t-shirts and shorts, but always sneakers. Never sandals of any kind. She usually has a few assorted bracelets in her right wrist. The only make-up Faith will wear is cover-up as necessary. There is one five inch long scar on the outside of her upper left arm from falling 30 out of a very large tree when she was nine.

Race: half-blood

Parents: Witch mother named Kristen, and Muggle father named Christopher. Faith gets all of her noticeable physical features from her father, and her personality characteristics are just like her mother's.

Personality: seems quiet but approachable from the outside, but once someone gets to know Faith, she's very out-going and sometimes a little conceited. She has an unusual sense of humor, but when she just goofs off her child-like silliness makes just about anyone laugh. She loves to live in the present, not thinking much about the past or future. She has mild anxiety disorders, but they generally don't interfere with her daily life. She is very disorganized, and has loads of trouble finding things when she needs them. She likes to talk to new people, and has a few close friends, but mostly values time by herself to sit and think in quiet. Around most people Faith is fairly even-tempered, but when she gets angry, people definitely stay out of her way. She does her best to see every side of every situation, and is better at that than most people. But in a bad mood Faith acts without thinking, and has been known to sometimes cause more trouble than there was to begin with. But faith can always muster up the sincerest of apologies to fix things. A good, trustworthy friend. Eager to learn.

Likes/Dislikes: bright colors, sunsets, watching the stars, climbing trees, learning, eating, laughing, sleeping///rude and egotistical people, feeling guilty, dirty fingernails, the wizard game gobstones

Power: very naturally talented with water, but cannot, at all, get fire, wind, and earth under the slightest bit of control. Also a Metamorphmagus, though very rarely does Faith use that power.

History: lived in Chicago Illinois in the U.S. with her parents and younger brother until she was accepted to Hogwarts and they all moved to London. For a long time her mother thought Faith didn't have any magic. Many opportunities were given after the age of seven for magic to show itself, including the incident giving Faith her scar. 30 foot drop from a tree her brother pushed her from, but no magic presented itself to break her fall. She finally displayed magic abilities when her brother nearly drowned in Lake Michigan. Faith rescued her non-magical brother with hardly any effort. Kristen discovered that Faith was a metamorphmagus after a terribly short haircut. Faith re-grew all of her hair over night, and woke up blond. Faith went downstairs to her mother and told her to watch while Faith changed her hair color from blond to turquoise to jet black to seaweed green to cherry red and back into its natural dark, dark brown. Faith liked to ride her bike all around Chicago, visiting her witch grandmother on the south side of town. On one such trip, Faith entered her grandmother's house to find that her Nana had passed in the night. The event was devastating to Faith, and she hasn't ever quite gotten over the thought that her closest relative died cold and alone. On a happier note, Faith took frequent trips with her mother to wizarding shopping centers around the U.S. In Philadelphia, her and her mother visited a wizarding aviary. There Faith saw a phoenix for the first time and immediately decided some day she would make sure she got one. Out of Faith's family of her mother, father, and little brother, Faith is closest to her mother. This is mostly due to the fact that her father and brother are slightly afraid of magic.
