Nate layed down in a cream colored meadow as his thoughts ran wild. His hands holding his dark head as he looked up through the strands of golden wheat and into the light blue sky. Flashbacks came pouring down into his mind as fast as they came and went. His eyes dull and clouded as he remembered the worse and best of the memories.
Alice sat at the edge of the meadow, the wheat coming up ot her head almost. She was almost completely hidden from view, her hair was pushed in front of her eyes, blocking them from the soft sun. Her eyes were locked on Nate, wide and bright.
She could feel his memories, but had closed her mind as much as she could. She couldn`t help but feel the happiness and sadness of the different scenes.
A image flew by in his mind, mixed emotions appeared through his dark eyes. A little girl about nine years old with the same dark hair as Nates but her eyes were more golden brown. She skipped happily into the field tackling a boy that was an exact replica of Nate but younger. The boy tickled her, a sisterly and brotherly way.
Nate smiled as he layed still in the wheat. A tear almost escaped from his eye but he wiped it before it could fall. He suddenly smelled the sweet scent of Alice. It was always easy to know that she was there, her scent was different than the wheat. He stood up onto his feet and looked around,"Alice you can come out now," he said in a nice loud voice. A smile appearing.
Alice smiled and slowly stood up, the wheat coming up to her waist. Her bangs were still in front her her eyes, but anyone could tell she was happy.
He smiled and motioned her to come over to him. A sparkle forming in his eye.
Alice smiled and walked towards Nate. She saw the sparkle in his eye, and she was glad her bangs covered her eyes.
The way the setting was, it felt like a dream but somehow he knew it wasnt. "Why are you here," he asked.
Alice shrugged with a smile. "I don`t really know." She said dreamily.
"Well if you were following me theres no need. Nothings happening here," he smiled.
Alice`s smile got bigger. "I don`t believe that; there are lots of things to do." She looked around the beautiful meadow to prove her point.
Nate shrugged,"I have to agree." A smile forming on his pale face.
Alice tilted her head sideways. "You know, you really should say what you mean more; mabey then people wouldn`t get the wrong ideas about you."
He laughed,"I guess i should." "Now what did you think i meant," he teased, his eyes curious.
Alice gave a small smile. "Never you mind." She said in her soft voice.
Nates begging eyes looked up at her innocently,"No please tell me."
Alice shrugged one second and in the next she was lying on her back in the grass, staring up at the bright blue sky.
Nate looked down at her. His eyes pouting,"can you just tell me before i go crazy."
Alice smiled widely, her perfect white teeth flashing in the bright sunlight. "I don`t think you`d go crazy." She said, tauntiong him.
Nate put his hand out, his thumn and ring finger an inch apart,"Im this close to tickling it out of you."
Alice laughed loudly. "I`ve lived over two hundred years, do you really think you can tickle somethng out of me?" She asked, raising a perfect eyebrow. Her eyes flashed in the bright sun.
Nate raised one of his eyebrows,"I dont think you want to go there Alice." He teased.
Alice snorted. "Honestly, I don`t think you could even catch me." She teased.
An miscioiuvious smile appeared on his pale lips."Well fine." He moved quickly and swiftly in his steps as he ran in a blurr. He moved his foot and slid it behind her leg, tripping her slightly as he layed his hand on the curve of her back. But then stopped and had lost focus of what he was doing. His breathing began to slow as he looked at Alice closely.
Alice smiled a wide grin and landed neatly on her palms and knees, purposely, and clearly by her own accord. Her grin faltered slightly as she caught his expression. "What?" She whispered, her voice just barely louder than an exhale.
Nate smiled crookedly,"Its nothing." He didnt move a bit.
"O.K." He said"I want-" "Yes said Alice."Thalia from Slytherin to marry me.""WHAT?!?!?"Cried Alice."You mean Thalia Nelson!?She's a mud-blood!" "Yes but a hot one at that." Just then Thalia(Thats me)walked up and started making out with Nate.

He looked at Alice," Sorry id rather not tell you." He whispered.
Alice met Nate`s gaze, her reflective eyes meeting his with an intensity. She lowered herself into the tall grass, still holding Nate`s gaze with intensity. Then, suddenly, she looked down at her hands. It was such an innocent gesture that almost anyone would fall for it.
Nate sat down in the grass, still looking at her. "You know you can tell me anything. It wont hurt me or anything." He put on an innocnt smile
Alice lifted her burning gaze to meet his. "You`re the one who won`t tell me anything." she said softly in an acussing tone.
Nate looked up at her confused,"What are you talking about?"
Alice rolled her eyes. "I told you that you weren`t faster than me, then you came behind me and put your hand on my back and stared at me. then you backed up all of a sudden and I asked you what was wrong. You said you`d rather not tell me." She said quickly and softly.
"I`d really like to know." She added in an even softer tone.
"Oh you mean that?" He crossed his arms,"It..it was nothing.." he replied cooly
Alice rolled her eyes and sighed again. "Really, you`re a bad lire for a vampire." She said, then her expression softened. She reached her hand out and put it over his.
"I really would like to know, Nate." She puased. "You said I could tell you anything. Why can`t you tell me this?" She asked, her brilliant blue eyes meeting his.
Nate glanced at her hand. "Because this thing i really dont want to tell you." He said softly
"Is it good... or bad?" She asked softly. Her bright eyes wouldn`t look away from his. They were locked on his, unmoving.
He looked down at the ground,"I...i really dont know."
Alice took her other hand and lifted Nate`s chin so his eyes met hers again. "Please." she whispered.
He didnt really know how to tell her. He looked up at her unsure,"I just wanted to kiss you." he whispered. He moved his head away from her grip, knowing what she was going to say.
Alice slowly took away both of her hands and set them in her lap. "Nate, I..." Her voice trailed off and she just sa there. After a couple minutes of frozen silence, Alice leaned forward and kissed his cheek softly.
"Was that so hard to say?" she whispered it, but it still seemed too loud.
He backed away,"It was a bad thing. A very bad thing." He looked around,"I told you i shouldnt tell you because i knew it was wrong." His eyes turned almost grayish brown.
Alice leaned closer to him and rested a hand on his foot, the only part of him that she could easily reach. "Nate, come back." She said softly, locking her eyes with his. The sun hit them just right to make them look like they were glowing, and she knew how powerfull her eyes could be.
Nate lookd up but didnt move. "Youve known how i felt. Why did you have to ask?"
Alice took a deep, unneeded breath and sighed. "Because, I may be a vampire, but I am not perfect. I care for you, Nate, and I don`t want to hurt you like she did." She explained softly.
Nate looked up,"Like who did?" He asked quizically.
"Like Stacey did." Alice mumbled softly. "I can read memories, Nate, just as well as any other physic. I`ve seen and felt what she did to you."

Nate looked up at her,"I can take care of myself, Alice. Stop feeling sorry for me!" He stood up in one swift movement,"Geez im not a lil kid!"He said, his voice full of anger.
Alice lowered her eyes to the ground.
"I didn`t say that you can`t take care of yourself, Nate, I just said that I don`t want to hurt you." She lowered her voice. "You`ve seen too much pain, and I don`t want to cause you more."
Nate slid his hand through his dark hair, his voice slightly calmer,"You, you just dont understand. It wasnt staceys fault...and i dont want anyone to think that eithr...
Alice tilted her head slowly.
"I`ve seen her play it through her mind a thousand times. And yours. I can`t close off my mental powers like you seem to do. She thinks it`s her fault. She takes the blame. You have been hurt. I don`t want to cause you more pain when I would just be doing the same thing." She said softly.
He rubbd his neck trying to think of somthing to say. His voice broke as he tried to make it clear," Then just be my f*cking friend..."
Alice looked up at Nate slowly, her reflective eyes meeting his.
"I`ve been trying." She said, her voice barely a whisper.
Nate looked up at her, finally getting the picture. He looked dazed, like somthing had hit him hard. "I got to go," he said fastly undr his breath. And before she could even reply or react he left, left just like that. He disappeared into the forest, nevr stopping just kept on going.
