Title: In Desperate Need of .Practice.
Post by: Luke Forlity on August 11, 2009, 06:25:33 AM
((Open to those who are experienced and good with a wand))

Luke stood in the forest with his wand out.  He was breathing hard and sweating just slightly.  He switched his wand to his left hand and wiped his sweaty palm on his t-shirt.

Holding his wand once again in his right hand, he pointed it at a tree.  He took a deep breath and cleared his mind.

"Aguamenti!"  He shouted.  With his wand he made the swish and flick motion that he had seen others use.  Nothing happened.  He tried again.  A small drop of water came out and landed on his shoe.

Exasperated, Luke sat down against a tree.  His wand had been giving him trouble from day one.  He opened his hand and a flame appeared.  It seemed that the only thing he was really good at was playing with fire.

The forest was dark and quiet, just the way Stacey liked it. It was almost impossible to see through the dark as a human, but Stacey had plently of help. She was a snow leopard Animagus. She could see just fine.

She prowled through the trees, her bright blue eyes searching the darkness. She was silent as she moved, and she didn`t really have to see. She knew this forest like the back of her hand, literally. She had been in the forest hundreds of times. She knew where the clearing were, what areas were shady at what time of day. Everything.

But something was different. The great cat paused silently and sniffed the air. Vampire. She bared her teeth. Seconds later Stacey was standing right where the leopard had once been. Her red and tan wand was poised in her hand, not looking very significant.

She took a couple side-steps until her back was to a tree. She could sense that the vampire was in the tiny clearing behind her, and that it wasn`t very powerful. There was no wash of power over her skin like there was when she was with Nate or Leah.

"Aguamenti!" Stacey heard. She sighed and rolled her eyes at herself. She was glad it wasn`t a strange vampire. They always made such a mess when you beheaded them. But she decided that she might have some fun anyway.

"You shouldn`t be in the forest at night. And the trees get enough water." She said in a soft voice than any vampire would hear.

Startled, Luke looked up.  He hadn't put any protections around himself before he left the castle.  Of course, if the spells actually worked, they wouldn't be very powerful.

He used all of his skill to smell the air.  Stacey.  He recognized her voice as well, but was still proud that he recognized her.

"And neither should you, Stacey.  Plus, it's not like I could actually accomplish the spell anyways."  Luke said.  He remained sitting on the ground, lazily.

Stacey smiled and stepped back from the tree, pulling the arms down on her old hoodie. She sat down a few feet from Luke, her eyes a glowing yellow the color of the moon.

"You don`t know what it`s like in here," She said, putting her chin on her hand, "There are creatures in here. Beings. And you didn`t even put up protection charms." She clicked her toungue. She shivered as the wind blew against her. It wasn`t the wind that made her shiver, though, it was the soft roll of power that blew her way from Luke.

"You could have at least put up a Protego Totalum charm." She tilted her head to the side, her eyes slightly distant. She was "listening" to Luke`s powers, feeling out how much power he had. He wouldn`t know it, of course, but she did.

Luke frowned, thinking.  Could there really be beings out here?  How dangerous could they be? He was, however, a vampire.  He could defend himself with his strength, if not his magic.

"I can't... I mean... I'm not yet able to produce an effective Protego charm.  And I certainly couldn't sustain it while practicing other spells."  He shrugged, "As for the beings, I could fight them off. I still have my fire powers."

Luke noticed Stacey's eyes becoming distant.  He wasn't sure that meant, or if it had anything to do with him.  Maybe she was reliving an event. Or maybe she was thinking to someone.  He just wasn't sure

Stacey grinned; it was just too easy to hear Luke`s thoughts when she was this close to the school. Really, it was like he was yelling inot her mind.

"Neither. I`m looking behind you." She asnwered, her eyes focousing back on Luke. "There are two wolves behind you. One rust colored with light blue eyes, the other black and white with amber eyes." Stacey didn`t need to look at the wolves to know who they were. They were hers. Tiki and James.

"And as for your fire use, what can you do?" She herself produced a small flame and rolled it between her hands. It was a bright orange color, and her eyes slowly switched to the same exact shade. They always changed when she played with fire. And it wasn`t like it burned her, she was all but fire-proof. "I don`t feel anything when I`m near you, so I`m sorry to say that you aren`t more powerful than me, but none of the students are." She shrugged, looking down at her hands. She didn`t know where her powers came from. They just kept expanding. Ginny hadn`t been mush help when she asked her questions, she had basically just said that it was normal. It didn`t feel normal.

Stacey tilted her head again, her orange eyes on the young looking Luke.

Luke shook his head, clearing it.  It was just too weird when people answered to his thoughts.  He wasn't used to it yet, and doubted if he ever would be.  He nodded, acknowledging the wolves.

"I can do a lot with fire, almost anything in fact... it's just natural."  Luke said.  A flame lit on each of his finger tips.  He watched them flicker and then grabbed them with his other hand, forming them into a single, larger flame.

"As for not being more powerful than you, I didn't think I would be.  But with what I already know about fire, it might not take me all that long!"  Luke was joking with her, but was also partially serious.  Of course he wanted to be more powerful, who didn't?

" Gosh, you guys suck! " The voice came from above, an intruder standing high up in the trees, spying down on the fellow students.

The boy had hazel brown hair, sparkling green-brownish eyes, and a gigantic grin placed upon his face. Wearing only his baby blue pajamas with teddy bears on, he had rings around his eyes, and a red bull in his hand. Clutching closely to it, it was his extacy.
Jumping from branch to branch, he reached the ground, the leaves rustling as he landed roughly on the forest floor.

Looking from the stranger, to Stacey, he giggled lightly. " Are you not counting me as a student? " He'd listened to their chit-chat, it was too easy to hear them as they disrupted the peace of the forest.

Albus turned on his heel, feeling extreme energies go through his body. Adressing himself to the stranger, he put his light blue hand out.

" I'm Albus. " Said the blue colored boy. " You may find my color funny, don't make fun of it, I'll freeze your hair roots, and make you go bald. " He snickered, and fished his wand out from pocket inside his pajamas, swishing it around, gloomily.

Luke looked up into the branches for the source of the voice.  It took him a while to find it, but by then, a boy had emerged and landed on the ground near him.  Luke stood up confused.  Was that boy... blue?

He jumped to his feet and glanced quickly between the boy and the red bull.  He smiled at him in his pajamas, obviously having just had an all-nighter.  Luke had often had all-nighters himself, and absolutely loved them.

As Luke shook the boy's hand he said, "Hi Albus! I'm Luke! And I don't find you're color funny... just... unique!"

Stacey`s eyes flickered up to Albus immediatly, a grin spreading across her face. She quickl;y took in the Redbull and the smile widened.

"Oh, Albus, freeze my hair roots and I`ll fry yours." She smiled in a much to sweet fashion. "Luke, Albus, Albus, Luke." She greeted, rolling the flame between her fingers.

"And Luke, why don`t you show me something really fascinating that you can do with fire. Something that takes a lot of concentration." She tilted her head once more, her eyes getting a slighty purple tint anlong with the orange, maiing them appear half of each color.

"Wingardum LEviosa" said Bucky pointing his wand at the twig on the ground. "ahh it is uselees" said Bucky once he had failedat retreiving the twig. He relinquished his wand from his hand felling disspondent. He wondered if hewas the only person who struggled with simple spells. (LOL I KnoW you said good with a wand but this just came out) Bucky picked his wand from the earth and pointed his wand at a stone near by. The stone squiggled but failed finishing the task.

Bucky jumped from the ledge beside te lake and new there was one thing he was safe from. Physical harm due to recent events. Bucky strolled into the forest and bumped into ashorter person. He assumed by the smell of them they were a man because they wore the same deoderant as him. "Sorry Mate" Bucky groaned "G'day anyhow!!".

((Yes, Luke, you can ask people to leave. If they respect you, they will. But, for xample, if I was posting in a topic that Bucky started, and I participated more in the topic, I wouldn`t give him a second glance if he asked me to leave. I would stay if I wanted to. It really depends on how much people like you. Bucky, I know that you use spell check, but you don`t use correct puctuation. You capitalize the wrong letters and don`t capitalize the right ones. Also, none of your sentences make sense. It`s all just confusing-- and you just don`t belong in this thread.

Now can we please get back on topic, and deleate all of these usuless arguments?))

((I'm all for it! I'm deleting my post after I reply right now!))

Luke nodded at Albus, smiling. He then turned and looked at Stacey.  He watch her roll a flame between her fingers, and after even just seeing the flame, a similar one appeared in his own hands.

"You want to see something cool?  Alright... I'll give you cool.  Or should I say hot?"  He chuckled at his joke and stuffed his wand into his pocket.

Luke looked down at the small flame in his hand.  He then moved his hand away, but the flame stayed where it was.  He put his hands up, palms facing the flame.  He took a deep breath, and as he stood there, the flame began to grow.  Soon it was a fairly large sphere floating midair.

Luke tapped his foot to an unheard beat.  The sphere began to pulse to the same beat.  Then he put his hands down, and stopped tapping his foot.  The sphere exploded, lighting everthing on fire, including Luke.  It wasn't hot though.

As the trees burned and crackled, Luke looked around, pleased with himself.  Then he snapped his fingers and the flame repeated everything that it had just done, reversed.  Once more, Luke held a simple flame in his hand.  There weren't even burn marks on the trees.

Stacey tilted her head slowly. For her, that wasn`t especially cool. Or hot, whatever. She had once lit the entire forest on fire, just like Luke had, and a student had witnessed her. Stacey would have gotten in a lot of trouble. If only the forest had shone any sign of being on fire...

"Cool." Stacey said. She took a few quick steps forward until she was right in front of Luke. The flame in her hand disappeared. She grabbed his wrist and held his arm out straight. "But watch this." She said, looking up to him with bright orange eyes. Without looking down at her hands, or appearing to do anything at all, Stacey produced a hot flames and held it under Luke`s arm. She lifted it until it touched his skin. He would be able to feel the heat, but it wouldn`t hurt.

She let the flame grow until she had to spread ehr whole hand out to hold it. The flames touched most of Luke`s arm-- bare skin. He would feel no pain. Just heat. The heat would be unpleasant, since it wasn`t his fire, but it wouldn`t hurt him.

With a snapping noise, Stacey flicked her hand back and let go of Luke`s wrist, suddenly back in her original spot. "Can you do that?" She asked, tilting her head again.

Luke watched her, closely.  The only difference was the color of her eyes.  He smiled at her and watched the flame lick at his arm.  When she was finished, Luke itched his arm.  The feeling had been strange, but not bad.

Luke walked over to Stacey, a flame already glowing on his hand.  He put his hand palm up, under her chin. It was close to, but not touching her.  The flame grew bigger and it licked around her eyes and nose.  Luke's eyes never left her's.  His flame was doing everything that her's had been, but on more sensitive skin.  She would surely feel the warmth.

Luke curled his hand quickly into a fist and the flame disappeared.

"The answer to your question is yes, I can do that.  Just not the transporting at the end."

Stacey kept her eyes on his as the fire he produced licked up her face. She barely felt it against her skin. "The transportation?" She asked with a confused expression. "Did I-- oh, I guess I did transport back over her." She smiled and shrugged.

"Maybe it`s better that you don`t know how to do that. I haven`t been caught yet, but...." She grinned and glanced at Albus.

"But, can you make something, say an animal, out of fire and control it?" She asked. People often had trouble making and controlling animals because, well, they were animals. Living things, in a sense. You had to be able to control earth to a point to be able to make animals, and they were easy to make even if you were just making a shadow of them.

Luke smiled as she realized that she had transported.  He couldn't transport very well if that was all he was concentrating on, but couldn't imagine doing it without conscious thought.

He nodded, "Yes, I can make animals.  Controlling them is what I have difficulty with.  I can only successfully control one animal... a bird."

He quickly made his bird out of fire, and had it fly to Stacey.  He smiled as it sang, loving his own creation.
Title: Re: In Desperate Need of .Practice.
Post by: potter_fan122 on August 19, 2009, 04:35:55 AM
Stacey smiled at the little bird as it flew towards her. It`s song was sweet and high-- probably a robin. It was hard to tell with elemental animals, because they weren`t real, just made of the element. But you could always tell by their song. She tore her bright orange eyes away from the bird, and raised both of her hands, palms facing each other.

A stream of fire poured from her palm, and slowly formed into a large bird. A pheonix. The firey animal flew away from Stacey, up into the sky. It swirled around gracefully, trailing flames. It circled them, singing softly. The song was beautiful, as all pheonix songs were. With a flourish, the bird lifted itself slightly and landed on Luke`s shoulder, then dissolved silently.

Stacey tilted her head and watched Luke carefully. "What about sheild? Can you make a wall of flame and have solid things not go through them?" This was also hard to do. It took concentration, and hard work. You had to practice quite a bit to get it right.
Title: Re: In Desperate Need of .Practice.
Post by: Luke Forlity on August 19, 2009, 11:33:09 PM
Luke watched his bird, but when Stacey made her's, his dissolved in insignificance.  He smiled as the phoenix landed on his shoulder.  He watched it disappear, and then faced Stacey, still smiling.

"I can make a shield, but it doesn't stay for long, and can only keep out one or two people at a time."  He said, shrugging.  He raised his hands preparing himself for the job ahead.

Luke closed his eyes and began to slow his breathing. When he opened his eyes, fire began to pour out from his palms.  It flowed straight to the ground at his feet, forming a tight circle around him.  Once that small circle was complete, Luke raised his hands and pushed the circle outward, continuously adding more fir to it so that it wouldn't stretch thin.

When he had determined that the circle was big enough, the fire stopped flowing from his hands.  The circle stopped growing.  He continued to breath deeply.

"Try to get in." He said softly.

Stacey snorted as Luke told her to try and get through the sheild.

"I`m not stupid. If it doesn`t let me in, soemthing bad will happen, depending on how powerful it is compared to me." As she spoke, she started to roll her hands together. When she stopped, a small red ball was in her hands.

"Here, try this." She said, and threw the ball right at Luke with the strenght of a proffesional.

Luke shrugged, having forgotten that detail.  At least she remembered, otherwise it could have ended badly. He watched her create the ball, and was ready when she threw it.

It bounced directly off the shield, not bending or warping it at all.  It flew back toward Stacey with the same amount of force with which she had thrown it.  He took a deep breath, still prepared for anything else to come at him.

Stacey didn`t flinch at all when the ball came shooting back towards her. She just blinked, and the ball stopped, then disappeared. Instead, lightening bolts hit the sheild, attacking it from all sides.

((It won`t hurt him, but his shield`s gotta give sometime.))

Albus watched the two of them, interested. He smiled, as Stacey started to shoot lightning bolts.
It sure brought back memories, of the time when he and Sarah had trained. It was the sole foundation to his elemental powers.

With the flick of his hands, an ice cube appeared in his mouth, as he stood up.
Another flick, and an icy wall appeared between them, blocking all of Stacey's bolts.

" Now, I want to ask you. How do you use your power? Do you force it out? Or do you just take small bits at the time? "
Title: Re: In Desperate Need of .Practice.

Stacey looked at Aiden with a sad, puppy-like expression. Her eyes were the electric color that came along with playing with lightening. She waved her hand and the lightening disappeared.

"Neither. I think of what I want it to do, ask it to do it, and it`s done." She said with a shrug. She had already realized that her powers didn`t really work the same way as other students. Her powers seemed to fill her all of the time, instead of being forced out. She could also use her powers more extensively for longer. She didn`t know why, that`s just how it turned out.

((And there`s a reason why she `s like that. Her dad is am immortal, and her uncle is an evil maniac that`s been invading her mind.))

" Just ignore how Stacey uses her elemental powers. " Albus started, smiling.

Taking one step closer to Luke, he continued slowly, " When you want to use your powers to the full extent, you can't just force it out. Both options let's you use the same amount of power, but if you force it out, you have to continuously keep forcing it out. " Inhaling, he looked around,

" But if you just build up your powers, just build it and built it to the point when you can't take it anymore, then you just start releasing! It's as easy as that! " Inspecting Luke, he then asked,

" Did you understand that properly? "

Stacey snorted and crossed her arms. "I hope so, because I sure didn`t." She said softly, pulling on her ear.

She already knew that her powers came easier to her than other people`s. She had never had to force something out of herself, often it coming to her so easily that it came on the first try. She had absolutely no idea why it was that way, but it was. She felt like she was full of energies, and all she had to do was let it out, not make it.

"And if you force your powers out all at once, you can likely hurt yourself." She added, looking towards Luke. "If you just suddenly explode with all of the power you have, you won`t be able to control it. Absolutely no way." She glanced toawrds Albus for confirmation. He had spent much more time in Ginny`s classes than she ever had.

(Sorry for my absence! I hope it's alright if we just pick this up where we left off?)

Luke wasn't used to being attacked by so many things at once.  His shield deflected only one or two lightning bolts before it had him out of breath and sweating.  He could hardly stand, and felt light headed.  Hoping that the lightning bolts were harmless, Luke let the shield crumble, and he fell to the ground, panting.

When he had enough breath he said, "I suppose... it's more of a lack of energy thing for me... is that... normal?"

He listened to everything that Albus had said, turning it over in his mind.  "Yeah, I think I can understand that, but what if I don't have enough energy to gather all of that power inside of me?"

Luke felt tired, but his strength was slowly coming back to him.  This hadn't happened in a while, and had become less frequent the more he practiced with his powers.  His elemental powers seemed to grow so easily, so what was wrong with his wand abilities?

" If you do not have enough energy, you have to practice to increase your energy. Do challenging things. In the start, I did exercises that were focused on stamina. " Albus started, as a firm ball of ice appeared in chest height, right in front of him. The ball was the size of a basketball, and it was hovering slowly, bobbing up and down. He tilted his head, as the ball departed from him, starting to run in circles around itself.

" You do this too, Luke. Create a ball of fire, then make it spin around in circles. When you've got the hang of it, create another ball. " As Albus spoke, several balls had joined in his own circle. They were spinning so fast, that all that could be seen was a blue blur. Albus added a couple more balls, as their acceleration increased. " One important thing, is that the balls should not, crash into each other. "

Albus sighed, and flicked his fingers, as the balls slowed down. " Try to keep the balls spinning as fast as you can, for as long as you can. "
