Title: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)
Post by: Ginny Thompson on August 3, 2011, 06:21:34 PM
(This is closed unless invited. Zepha needed)

Trent walked alone to the forest jumper on his shoulder.
He was thinking about things he'd learnt today in class.
He had reached the forest and found a rock to sit on.
He and Zepha had organized to see each other before Christmas holidays.
He had waited alone he picked up a bunch of leaves that floated to the ground. It started to get windy. She still hadn't showed up.
He started tearing apart the leaves.
Maybe this would pass the time, right?
Trent had looked at his watch. It was late.
I should go to the commonroom he said to himself.
He continued to rip leafs apart.
If he waited any longer, he'd get into trouble.
Maybe just a few more minutes he thought.
He heard the breeze get heavier.
He put his jumper on. It was getting cold and starting to get dark.
He got out his wand.
"Lumos!" he said.
A flash of light appeared out of his wand.
"Ahh... that's better."
He stood up.
About to leave, when an owl dropped mail on the rock. He picked up. It was addressed to him.
He read who it was from.
Anonymous!
He put it in his pocket. He'd read it later.
He decided to leave. Maybe she couldn't make it.
He was upset.
He held his want high and placed one foot in front of the other.
That's when he saw it.
A silhouette! Zepha! She'd made it!
He turned around. Trent jogged over to it. It looked unlike a person but he was sure it was Zepha, it had to be.
The shadow came closer. That was not Zepha.
Then the shadow disappeared.
Where had it gone and who was it?
He moved over to where he heard it.
He moved closer and closer into the heart of the forest.
Nothing. Completely nothing!
He walked out of the heart and closer to the exit.
He came out to the rock he'd been sitting on before and placed himself onto it.
He looked around to where that shadow could have gone.
That's when he noticed it.
A box!
But before he could inspect or investigate it something happened.
He started hearing noises the tree rustling and sticks on the ground snapping.
Trent looked up.
His heart started pounding fast.
He was nervous and scared at the same time. Could this have been the silhouette he'd been noticing or was this one different.
He didn't know. All he could do was hope. Hope that was a witch or wizard who he knew.
Trent grabbed a tight grip on his wand, and stood up.
He walked over and he saw something a human shadow.
"Zepha?" he asked.

Trent was ridiculous, absolutley ridiculous. What kind of moron arranges to meet someone in the forest, of all places. How in the world was she supposed to find him. He hadn's said by the small shed or on the trail. Nooooo he'd just said the forest. She was supposed to meet him over half an hour ago but she'd spent the last hour and a half looking for him; which wasn't exactly easy being how she had on a pair of flats and a skirt. "Trent I hate you so much right now!" She said outloud, knowing he wouldn't hear her.

Finally after another fifteen minutes of searching she was exhausted. "I'm gonna kill him" she said, again to herself. Where in the world was he. All of a sudden she heard something, sorta sounded like her name come from the west. She treaded over there, praying it was him, because if it wasn't she was going back to her dorm. She noticed a small clearing just about 20 feet in front of her and could see an outline through the trees. Thank god she'd found him finally.

"You are a jerk." she said as she entered the clearing on the opposite side of him. "Here" she said throwing a package at him. "I got you this.". She wandered over to a rock and went to sit down, her feet were killing her.

(( xD you said it was Christmas hollidays so I got you a gift ))

"Zepha! You frightened the Heck outta me!"  Trent said. He was just been in in forest for over an hour waiting for her to come.
Zepha threw a package at him and saw her sit on the rock.
"What's this"  he asked? he wasn't sure if it was a Christmas Present or if it was something of hers.
"Is this a Christmas present?" he asked. He wasn't sure whether to open it or what.
So he opened it.
"Wow! Thanks! This is awesome" he said. He loved the present she'd given him he'd always wanted it since the beginning of Hogwarts. He thanked Zepha of her present and gave her the present for Zepha.

(What exactly did Zepha get Trent?:))

"Good," she said with a sly smile "Cause I have been treading through this forest for two hours for you!". She watched as he opened the package, smiling as he did when he unripped the packaging.

"Good, I'm glad you like it." she said. It wasn't much,  just a watch on a gold chain but it seemed like something Trent would like. She only just met him and didn't know what to get.

As he walked over to her to pass her her gift she smiled, mentaly thanking him for not making her get up. Her feet were throbbing, after she opened this she was going to killhim for sure. Wasting no time she opened the package, grinning as she did so. "Hey thanks!" she said. "This is sweet!"

He hoped Zepha liked it. He loved his watch. And she seemed as if she liked what he'd gotten her. A card, with Merry Christmas on it and a new charmed bracelet.
This was a good place to met up for Christmas, hey? he told himself.
He sat down on the big rock beside Zepha.
They started talking.
"So, are you going home for Christmas?" he asked her staring at her.
He wasn't as his parents were on a holiday and couldn't see him.
He wondered what she might do.
And whether or not it was fun.
He waited for her answer.
Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)

Zepha stuck out her wrist to Trent and handed him the bracelet. "Help me put this on." she said as he linked the chain around her wrist.

Zepha glanced down at her wrist, now glistening with the shiny bracelet. "I try not to go home." she said, still looking down. "Its easier if I just stay here." That was partially true, but the whole truth is she didn't want to be home. Even though the broken peices have been phisically picked up, she could still see them and had no desire to.

"What about you, staying here or heading out?" she said, desperate for a subject change.

Trent sort of understood why she was staying here (read her mind obviously). It must have been hard on her. Where as with Trent he was the spoilt child from his brother but never knew why.
"Me? Oh, I'm going to stay here. Mum and dad can't see me for Christmas. My brother is staying at uncle Bill's, oh i hate him but my brother loves him. Mum and dad are on a holiday on a cruise ship. I've never been on one. But they're going to Europe then Asia and back home. Personally i could just get on a broomstick and get there, right?"Trent laughed at his own joke, then staring into Zepha's eyes as she's not laughing.
He looks away.
"Wanna hang out during the Christmas holidays, my friends have all gone home and I'm all alone?"

Zepha just stared at a rock as he went on about his family. Sounded sweet and happy and oh it made her sick. And jealous. She knew she shouldn't be, it wasn't his fault or anything. But for somereason hearing his happy story made her angry.

Finally she looked up from the spot on the ground she was staring at. "Sure, sounds good. I'll be here no worries." she looked at his face and saw that look. The look that meant he'd just read her mind. She started backtracking trying to remember what all she had thought and hoped there was nothing offensive.

Zepha liked Trent but that was one thing she couldn't stand about him. No matter how hard she tried, he could always find out what she was thinking. Whether it was playing a game or something serrious he was always a step ahead.

And that made things hard. She already couldn't trust anyone, and so far he didn't know that. But since he knew everything, that made her feel even more vulnerable, which she knew she shouldn't feel that way; but still.

As they sat  Zepha could feel the silence in the air, and it was loud. She looked at him, wishing she knew what he was thinking right now.

Trent had read her mind. He had so many thoughts in his head, was Zepha upset with the things I've said?;What does it mean she can't trust anyone?; When was he one step ahead anyway?. He was annoyed and wanted to ask questions but didn't want to make it look as if he read her mind again. She would be angry.
Sometimes it was hard having a power like this. Sometimes he couldn't help reading peoples minds. It just happened, it wasn't his fault and besides he was really good with his power now. Zepha was the first actual demonstration and now he built on it. But sometimes curiosity got the better of him and he just had a peek in their thoughts. Now he was trying to see peoples memories.
"Zepha, um, this sounds weird but can i try seeing your memories?"
Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)
Post by: Crazy_About_You on August 19, 2011, 11:39:19 AM
Zepha felt her eyes bug open when he asked. It was an odd question, a good one but still odd. "Sure, I guess." she said with a shrug. She had a lot of memories but not all that many she wanted to share.

She searched through her mind and then began to remember the time she met Trent. He was in his common room and she started talking to him. He was socially awkward back then, which he still was a little but not bad. She remembered him grabbing her hand in a way to make her stay, and them going down to the lake where he managed to practically kill herself. Ever since that day they'd been good friends. There was nothing like a life threatening incident to turn an awkward aquaitance into a friendship.

"So, does it work?"
She asked. Even though it bothered her that Trent could read her mind she still found it intresting. The thought of outreaching yourself from your own mind and into anothers was something that she found astounding. When she first met him he wasn't very good but now he was, too good actually. Now it was to the point where it was almost impossible to keep a secret.

"Thanks, I've always wanted to try this" he said smiling.
He lifted both his hands near her brain and closed his eyes.
At first it was a blocked memory, him seeing darkness with a few patchy blurs of her or him.
"No" he sighed. He was sad, Trent had always wanted to try this. But the freakest thing happened when he touched her hand.
Zooming, zooming into focus. Focused! He saw Zepha, then him. He grabbed her hand. She seemed to mumble something. Then Zepha was talking to a teacher. Looking at him! Teacher fixing him and them walking back to the common room.
Suddenly a force made tugged at him and he was taken back to look into Zepha's eyes still holding her hand.
"I did it" he said not sounding that enthusiastic but smiling.

Zepha watched Trents face as he searched threw her mind. It was kind of a funny face only recently had she been able to control giggles when he did it. A couple of minutes went by as Zepha waited on him to answer. She noticed a light snow that started to fall, dusting her hair in glittery flakes.

"Thats amazing." Zepha said, once he finally was done. It was cool how good at reading minds  Trent had got in the few months they'd known eachother. From barely at all to now reading her mind was astounding. "Whats it like." she asked him curriously.

"Um..I guess cool. It's  not really an ability i wanted. Sometimes it's hard to block out peoples thought though..." He trailed off noticing the box he'd found before Zepha was here.
"Hey, Zepha , look at this" he said crouching down on his knees and running his fingers on the patterns at the side of the box.
He thought they were really cool designs.
He was curious to find out what really was inside the box.
He opened the lid slowly.
"Wow, Zepha come have a look" he said shocked but smiling.

"Yeah, I saw that earlier what is it?" Zepha asked as she followed  Trent's gaze to a small box with little engravings on it on the ground. She let him look for a second and then got up to join him.

"What is it?"
Zepha asked again as she  peered over Trent's shoulder, she couldn't see over him.

Trent sneezed.
The dust seemed to be coming from the thing in the box. He wiped a little bit of the dust away to read it. It seemed to be written in a different language.
"What do you think it says",  he asked Zepha.
Noticing that she couldn't see, he moved over.
"I think it maybe a book" he said guessing.
He picked the object up.
"Yep, that's a book" he said confidently.
Flipping the page he noticed a dedication,

To (this bit seemed to be blurred) for using her smartness to help in the making of this book.

"I think this may belong to your house" he said lifting the book from his knees to hand over to Zepha.
The book was heavy, at least a thousand page book!
He let Zepha read it.
"So what do ya think" he asked.

Zepha watched as Trent flipped through the pages of the giant book and was a little supprised at its weight as he placed it on her lap. She started to flip through the pages and dust flew out into her eyes.

"I think I might need saftey goggles to read it." She said squinting. "I'm not sure what to think." she said as she slowly turned the dellicate pages. A lot of the writing inside was hand written in loopy cursive writing. "Where did you even find this?" she asked him.

"In the box" he said, " It was just there!" he explained.
It wasn't his fault he had just found it on the ground.
He had a suspicion it belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw, as it was for her smartness but anyone could've been smart.
He looked at the pages. They were dirty and ripped. But then something spotted his eyes.
"Unforgivable Curses" he read aloud.

"Woah," Zepha muttered after a few seconds of letting it sink in. She flipped through the pages, dusting them all off. The first few pages explained what they were, describing each one in minor detail. As she flipped through the book she began to notice they they went into more depth.

"Insane."
She said looking back up at Trent, "What are you gonna do with it?". She picked up the book and set it back down in his lap, not sure if she wanted to have anything to do with it or not.

Trent was desperate!
He had been told about the curses but never how to use them. The information was all there, should he risk it just for fun and be left in Azkaban for the rest of his life?
He went through his pockets, had evil been taking him over?
Found his wand.
Before he tried, he flipped through an index at the back of the book.
"Spells" a subheading he read, put in certain categories he looked at the other spells.
"Unforgivable Curses, Defence Spells, Charms."
"What should we try first?" he asked Zepha wanting to know more.

Zepha looked at Trent with a bug-eyed gaze. Was he crazy? Try one of the spells in that book. She'd done some insane stuff but sitting in prision wasn't exactly on her bucket list.

"Are you nuts?" she said as she placed a hand on his wand. "Or is Azakaban prison on the top ten list of places you wanna go?" Zepha had normally been one of the wild ones, full of exciting plans, yet she couldn't work up the courage to do something like this.

Trent thought about it.
Should he listen to Zepha or listen to what he wanted to do for himself.
Suddenly his conscience told him to give in.
He ignored the book putting it back into the box and stared at Zepha.
"So what are we going to do now?" he asked Zepha.

Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)

Zepha ran her fingers through her blonde hair. It was getting longer now, she usually would cut it inches ago but hadn't seemed to do it yet. "Well I don't know but if we don't come up with something we're going to be very bored for the rest of break."

She looked up at Trent and then let her eyes settle back down on the book. The idea of trying a spell was horrifying yet totally daring. This is something that the old her wouldn't do.

"One" she said looking back up at Trent. "Lets do just one. What's it gonna hurt?"
Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)
Post by: Ginny Thompson on October 5, 2011, 02:39:22 PM
Trent noticed her stroking her hair. He never actually noticed how good it looked til now.
"One? Are you sure, you were completely against it a minute ago."
Trent turned to look at the book.
He reached out towards it and then pulled back. He looked at Zepha.
Then reached out again and grabbed to book cover and pulled it towards him placing it onto his lap.
He felt confused at what to do.
"You pick," he handed the book to her, hoping she'd take it and pick one to practice, because Trent would obviously choose a spell he'd never been taught before in his life.

Zepha watched as Trent's hands seemed to dance with the book, like his mind was muddling over a million different ways to handle the situation. She slowly began to turn the pages, flipping through and seeing a few spells.

"They look..." she said reading over the Avada Kedavra spell "... scary." she finished. Finally she stumbled across one she didn't think could do too much harm. She slipped her wand out of her pocket and began to wave it around

"Imperio"
she said as she directed it towards a tiny bug. She watched in awe as her wand started to sputter out a spell but then frowned when nothing happened.

"Huh," she shrugged. She knew that it took a lot of skill to perform the spells, but still was sortof disapointed. "Bummer" she said as she placed her wand back into its spot in her pocket.

Trent saw the pages flip, his heart was beating a million miles an hour.
Trent's eyes were waiting for her to pick. Finally, she picked one.
She said the spell and Trent's eyes became large like a fly.
Trent saw her trying to do the spell but she was unsuccessful.
Trent bit his lip, before her even thought this through he grabbed his wand and said.
"Let me try," he stood up and took the book and said the magic words.
"Imperio!"
Trent was unsure of what the heck he'd just done.

Zepha watched as Trent took a try at the spell, figuring he'd be just about as successful as she was. She crossed her legs and watched as stood up and said the words.

"Oh my..." she said after he preformed the spell. "Wha... what just happened?" she asked.

Trent was ex-static.
He had done it he punched the air as he had just done a terrible thing.
Had he just committed a crime and hadn't known?
He took a deep breathe in and out.
"How was i?" he asked Zepha laying next to her smiling a big grin.

"I can't belive that you did it." she said looking up at him. "I really really can't" . It wasn't him in general, just anyone who wasn't properly trained.

"I'd really like to say thats amazing but." she kinda laughed at this "its sorta illegal so maybe not so amazing."
Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)
Post by: Ginny Thompson on October 8, 2011, 10:08:29 AM
Trent frowned.
Illegal?
What was she talking about, there are only two curses that are illegal not three, right.
"But there's only two" Trent argued.
He sat up, could Zepha really be right?
Title: Re: An Afternoon In The Forest (Closed, Zepha needed)
Post by: Crazy_About_You on October 8, 2011, 10:12:48 AM
Zepha locked eyes with Trent. "Yeah, illegal." he didn't know? How could he not. "There are 3 unforgivable curses." she said sliding him the book and flipping to the page.

Suddenly Trents nervousness started to rub of on her. Zepha looked at her hands and held them together as they began to shake. What had she been thinking.

Trent had no idea how to feel. He stood up and started to cry.
Trent normally was a strong person, not much emotions, but now thinking that he'd committed a crime and being sent to azkaban for it, at only his age was horrible.
He felt like taking off into the woods to be alone.
Trent stood up and took one look at Zepha, hoping that she'd maybe try to help him feel better. Trent then started to walk away from their special spot and walk around each different tree to one that seemed to take him in. He recognised this tree. This was one that he'd planted at his old school. He cuddled up to the tree, shoved his head into his knees and cried.

Zepha looked up at Trent. She needed to get up and console him, she just couldn't yet. She sat on the ground for another moment and then gathered herself. They hadn't done the spell on  a person, just out in the blue. They should be fine, no they would be fine. She knew it. They were just kids.

Zepha got up and followed the footprints Trent had left behind. She finally found him by a tree, crying. Seeing him like that made her stomach lurch, like somebody had bunched her.

"Trent" she said softly as she aproached behind him. "We'll be fine, we'll be.." she stopped. Words couldn't help him . She walked up behind him and wrapped her small arms around his chest, nuzzling her face into his back.

Trent shuddered.
He felt a lump on his back and arms wrapped around his stomach.
He couldn't feel warmer.
"What do you mean fine?" His words were a bit mumbled as he was pressed against his knees.
He was hoping for an answer that would sooth him.
A last tear had fallen on to the ground. An ant tried to dodge it, but was pulled with the force by the drop down the ground on the dirt.
He sniffled and closed his eyes.

"Fine." Zepha said, fumbling with the word. "We're kids, we're dumb and we didn't know any better. We didn't harm anybody or anything, just experimenting with a few spells." She unwrapped her hands from his chest and gently pulled his head out of his knees. She placed her hand in his and squeezed it.

"Re... remember when you hit your head, on that rock? Remember?" she remembered the day perfectly. "I knew you'd be fine. And you were. We'll get through this together, I promise." She paused, searching for more words. "Besides, if they were gonna come afterus they would've already right?"

He listened to Zepha, she always seemed to have logic in her speech.
Suddenly the tears stopped and he needed a hug. So he gave Zepha one.
She was right.
"I remember, you know Zepha you're right."
Trent smiled but it was a weak smile.

Zepha sighed as Trent pulled her into a hug, feeling the small relief rush through his veins. She rubbed his back "Every things okay." she said.

She pulled back and ran her hand through her hair. "Lets go get something to eat, suddenly my stomach is killing me." She grabbed his hand and started to walk down the small path, which was now being covered in a light snow (being how its winter and all).

"Mmm" Trent agreed.
He was sort of hungry now that Zepha mentioned it.
He took Zepha's hand and they walked forward.
Suddenly Trent remembered.
"Oh. What if someone finds the book?"

Zepha stopped and allowed her gaze to look back at the clearing. "Let em find it. I don't want anything to do with it." she looked back at Trent. He looked thoroughly concerned." You can get it if you want I guess." she shrugged, waiting for his reply.

Zepha had to think that when someone finds it the first holiday they'll be is Azkaban.
Trent went to grab the book, but something seemed wrong, it wasn't there, where he left it.
"Zepha! Come quick!"

Zepha had been about 10 feet in the other direction when she heard Trents cry. The last time he'd sounded that concerned was the day at the lake. She turned and ran, carefully avoiding any holes in the ground. "Trent" she said breathlessly as she reached him. She followed his gaze to the ground where the book had been. "Wha- where?" she said falling to her knees and pushing aside some of the  new fallen snow.

Trent panicked.
He'd seen Zepha drop to her knees.
She hadn't revealed it.
What was he to do at a time like this?
Panic? Stress? Cry?
No! They had to find it.
"Zepha, Where could it be?" he asked stuttering.
He dropped to his knees and looked where she was looking. He sniffled.
His hands lightly scratched the snow, his fingered etched into something-something like a gravestone's writing.
He erased the snow to reveal the writing.
"Wow, Zepha, you should look at this" he exclaimed.
Things seemed to be getting weirder and weirder.
He looked down.
Why would a gravestone have been placed down like this? Instead of upwards?
Some of the grave seemed to be hidden by the rock though.
"Mary Re-"

Zepha had a feeling of nervousness overwhelm her, and she wasn't a nervous person. It was probably becasuse she was with Trent, who at the moment, was acting like a total headcase.

"Trent, this day is getting weirder and weirder."
she said rising back up to her knees. She was just ready to get out of here and never ever come back. "So friking weird." she added.

Trent gulped.
A little urge wanted him to be a little more curious. He stood up and took a breath or two before looking back down at the stone. He thought of something as soon as he had remembered when he'd seen his grandmother's stone.
"Zepha-Zepha!" he cried suddenly jumping for joy, "Check the date and writing below."
He bobbed down again and covered his fingers in snow to try to think of something else that might help. He scooped a bit up and tried to reach deep into his thoughts to remember anything freakish on any show to help him and his friend.
Nothing seemed to come to thought though. Maybe he was to creeped out to think. He dropped the snow and had seen what Zepha had uncovered the date was only the date of today, weird? He had to check with Zepha.
"What's the day and date today?"
Hopefully it wasn't what he thought it was otherwise it'd be today!

"December 17th right... wait why is this..." she started to say as she peered over his shoulder. "... important." she finished. As she stood behind him she squinted her eyes. Is that what she thought it was.... that was todays date. "Oh my gosh." she finally stuttered.

She shoved her hands in her pocket and started rubbing her thumb on the bracelet he'd just given her. Then she knelt back down next to him and shoved more snow off the grave, her fingers turning blue from the cold of the snow. "I think its time for a new spot." she slowly said as she uncovered the whole stone.

"December 17th" Zepha relpied.
Trent had seen some scary movies in his whole life but nothing worse than living in a horror movie. Trent closed his eyes and said aloud, "When i open my eyes this will all be gone and over." But when he finally decided to open them he could still see eveything more creeper.
"I think it's time for a new spot" Zepha said.
What had she meant by that?
Was she talking about the stone or them?
"What do you mean, Zepha?"
Trent looked over towards her- he wasn't prepared to dig a gravestone out and find a dead person under there to move it to some place else. Nor was he to just leave and forget this even happened-that'd be impossible. Besides Trent really wanted thatbook back, maybe it would help for his studies.
