Crumpled Soul
Apparitions of you appear in my dreams
Unsoundness and disorder
Honor takes you away from me, a fool's errand
I hear you walking on the howling winds
Waves crash against the rocks, calling your name
The soft spray against my face
Like your hand once caressed my cheek
Love is not without penalties
A sickness in my heart
The castle stones are cold, the halls empty
Another night passes with no set direction
An affliction of doubt and a crumpled soul
Regretting each passing moment
That lasts somehow forever
Out of Your League
You don't even know me well
So set your judgements aside
It's obvious that your insults
Are voiced to ease your pride
Insecurity really makes you weak
That's very plain to see
You must accept the bitter truth
You'll never be with me
It's not your physical appearance
You're stunning at first sight
But when our auras rub together
No sparks want to ignite
I once was in your same shoes
And played my cards just right
But still my hand was beaten
So fate's bullet I did bite
Maybe in some other life
Things wouldn't be this way
But in this one, my minds made up
And there's nothing more to say
Lord of Death
Stirring swirls of fallen leaves
relish how the cold bites
flash past the black expanses
spaces between streetlights
half-seen shadow
thrashing vicious sneers at passing
cars-- cruel, indiscriminate
hate; hate.
stride unbroken ready
for white teeth
clench steel
gripped in rage's pangs
lord of anger
lord of death
glinting off bared fangs
charged fury
backed in the cramped
corner of your mind--
flung over the barrier
roll for cover
mesmerized by fear
hard not to find
shivering in the trash--
prick your ears, but
don't look behind.
Braced
It is a slow death
the death of soul,
but assured-
too subtle to see.
List the listless
near-misses here
married to the seashore,
sisters of death;
go closer,
they bite.
If their webs carress
you are chilled.
Each strand soothes
a single cell, and
each loss in life
encompassed is
sane only when
approached in the distance.
Question, or they tell.
I am desolate
when you are passed;
crouch in the shadow
where I can see you.

Everything was simple
Everything was fine
I knew I couldn't have you
And I knew why
I tried to move on
I dated other guys
But then we'd hang out
And I knew, to myself I lied.
You noticed me drifting
You said "please explain"
But, I didn't want to loose you
So, I tried to deal with the pain.
It's hard to be with you
It gets harder each day
When I look in your eyes
I feel my body floating away
I miss the way it used to be
You don't feel the change
You don't know I really love you
I'm sure to you, it's just a game
As I close my eyes tonight
I'll pray as I was taught to do
I'll pray that you realize that
I love you, but I can't have you
