Title: DRACOS’ REIGHN
Post by: Kiara Johnson on August 6, 2004, 06:47:23 AM
INTRO

Draco Malfoy sat in his a long forgotten Keep.  A place that no one even knew existed any longer.  Or at least, few knew existed.  He had put up all the barriers to protect his whereabouts.  If Kiara even thought of the place, she'd loose her train of thought, if any one, for that matter, thought of it, they'd get frustrated by forgetting what it was the were think of and go on to another thought.

Kiara didn't realize that Draco had indeed touched her mind with the stone.  Only he had done so with such lightness, she didn't notice.  He was confusing her every thought, each time she got close to finding his location, she'd get tired and sleep.  Now, Draco just played a waiting game.  It would take his spell another three weeks to work its course.  When complete, he'd rule Kiara, heart, mind and soul and there would be no one, who could change it, or though, he thought.

CHAPTER ONE:  Impossible Search

IT had been a week since Kiara woke up, breathless in bed after Draco had captured her Soulstone.  Now, she and Max struggled every day to try and find a way to regain what had been stolen.  Not even Moloch, Kiara's' new guardian could give them any clues.  It was if no one and nothing could help.  Draco had seemingly vanished from the face of the earth.

"We've gone to every corner of this country to try and find him but there is no sign, any where."  Harry said as he paced his office at the Ministry.

"Then perhaps he's not in England."  Ginny suggested.

"I honestly think you might be right Gin."  Max replied after some thought.  "But where would he go?  And why can't Kiara even connect with her own Soulstone?  It just makes no sense."

Harry's office was cluttered with books and parchment, all of which contained any and all information regarding both England's upper and lower quadrants.  Also, included where all the past hiding places known to be used by the late Lord Voldem0rt.

"How's she doing Max?"  Ginny asked.

"Well, other than being extremely stressed and a little jumpy, she's fine.  It seems Draco is waiting for something, I just wish I knew what.  He hasn't even played with her mind yet, not a single dream or anything. "  Max replied, looking a bit worried.

"He's definitely up to something Max.  And that's not good."  Harry said, laying a piece of parchment on the already full desk.

"Are we sure we know everything there is to know about the Soulstone guys?  I mean, what if Draco knows something we don't?"  Ginny asked.

"No, I'm positive we don't know everything there is to know.  And yes, I am positive Draco has found something that we haven't."  Harry replied, looking at Max who was now, pacing the floor.

They all jumped as someone knocked at the door.  Ginny went and answered it.

"Find anything yet?"  Kiara asked, looking from face to face and knowing the answer to her question before anyone even spoke.

"I'm sorry Kiara."  Max said, walking over and putting his arm around her shoulders.

Kiara took a deep breath.

"He's not even in England, is he?"  She asked.

Harry and Ginny both shook their heads.

"No, he's not.  I just don't know where to start looking for him now, that's all."  Harry replied.

Kiara nodded.

"Ok, well, have you found anything more about the Soulstone then?"  Kiara asked again.

"Well, from what we've gathered, we did find that who ever posses the stone gains certain powers of the soul incased in said stone."  Harry replied.

"Great.  More good news."  Kiara replied sarcastically.

Kiara laid her head on Max's shoulder and sighed.

"We'll figure it out Kiara, I just hope we do so before Draco decides to act."  Max said, running his hand through her hair.

"Where on earth could he possibly be that I can not connect with my own Soulstone?"  Kiara said, raising her head and now walking further into the room.  "Not a single whisper from the earth or even a single sign. "  She continued, now pacing the floor as Max had just a few moments before.  Then, Kiara sat down and closed her eyes.

"Kiara are ..."

Max put a hand on Ginny's arm.

"Don't bother, she'll awake again in a few hours.  It happens every tie she starts searching for him.  I think that perhaps we were wrong about him messing with her.  I think he's done something to make her forget."  Max said, letting Ginny's arm loose and picking Kiara up form the chair.

"I'm taking her home.  Let me know if you find anything."  Then he left.

CHAPTER TWO:  Kiara's Fall

Kiara slept for several days, when she finally woke, Max was sitting at her side, as always.  He never left her side for anything.  Unless, she made him go that was.

"You're awake."  Max smiled, wiping a strand of hair from her face.

Kiara nodded and sat up, looking about the room.

"How long was I out this time Max?"  Kiara asked, looking at him with her head tilted to the side.

"Two days Kiara.  I was a bit worried."

Kiara raised her had smiled.

"I'm ..." She trailed off, a look of sudden horror on her face.

"What is it Kiara?"  Max asked, grabbing her shoulders and turning her to look at him.

Kiara didn't respond, she simply looked at him.  That looks was both scared and sad all at the same time.  Before Max could do anything however, Kiara vanished, leaving him holding nothing more than air.

Max sat down hard on the bed and stared at the spot she was just sitting.

Max was stunned, never before had anyone, not even the Devil himself, taken her away so easily.  Draco was certainly a bigger enemy than any of them had expected.

"Harry." He said quietly and waited.

Harry however, never got his message, it was Moloch that appeared n his home, his silvery red eyes staring down at Max with no expression showing in them what so ever.

"Moloch..." Max started but was cut short at a look.

"I know Max, it was bound to happen, everything pointed that way, there is nothing you can do, for now.  We will just have to wait, bide our time and then find her.  I have a few thoughts, I wrote them down however, when I look at them and try to consciously read them, they go all blurry.  Care to give it a try Max?"  Moloch handed max a piece f parchment with two words written on it.

Max took the leathery parchment and frowned at what it was made of then shook his head and looked at the words written on the parchment-like substance.

What he saw was nothing more than two red ink blots, no words at all seemed to come out of the mess.

"I think you messed up old man.  There isn't anything but blotches here."  Max said a little annoyed.

Moloch laughed.  "It's just as I thought, no one can read them.  Evidently, I wrote them in a trance.  Looks like another quest for you then."

"A quest?"  Max replied.

"Yes, a quest to find your wife.  We need a stone to read these words.  And there is only one place I know that posses the stone of truth..."  Moloch paused and looked at Max.  "You aren't likely to like the location, the last known keeper of the stone of truth was Evan.." Moloch finished.

"Great!  He hated me when he was an angel, I can only imagine how easy this isn't going to be."  Max replied, knowing that he really had no choice, if he wanted Kiara back again.

**********

"Draco, when I get clear of this stupid field, I'll..." Kiara started then punched the invisible shield put about her.

Draco laughed as he watched her.

"No Kiara, I'm afraid you wont, I've only four more days till I gain total control over you and those magnificent powers of yours.  No, I'm afraid you most certainly won't be hurting me.  Perhaps that husband of yours, but not me."  Draco told her, his manner less than friendly and his icy-blue eyes piecing into her mind.

Kiara knew he was right, even now, though she fought it, she could tell she was slipping form her normal reality and into the one Draco wanted her in, the one Evan had warned her about.  It seemed that every hour, every minute and even the slightest second that passed with out Max next to her, she was loosing control, falling into the dark nature she was born to be in.

"What makes you think I still won't kill you just for the sake of killing you once I do become what you want."  Kiara hissed at Draco, although she already knew she wouldn't, so long as he posses the Soulstone, he was safe.

Draco just laughed again and laid his hand on the field separating the two.  "No Kiara, you won't, you'll be more than happy to help me in anything and everything.  Trust me love, some day you'll be the better for it.  That some day is but 163 hours away."  He finished, letting his hand slide from the field then walking away.

Two days had passed and still, Kara struggled as much as she could to resist the urges of darkness that seemed to creep through her stringer every passing moment.  She couldn't even remember why she was here any longer, just that she didn't want to be, Draco was the only person she ever saw and even his company was beginning to become welcome, and she didn't think it should be.

"Tell me again Draco, what it is we are doing>?'  Kiara asked her voice subdued.

Draco smiled, he was winning the battle and he knew it.

"Kiara, Love, we are training you for your future reign.  That's the only reason you must stay here, in this shielded room, to protect you while you gain your strength "  He lied easily.'

He had it all planned out, he was following every rule the old testaments told him he must, if he wanted to be the only one to control her.  He was the only face she could see during the last four days of the Soulstone rebirth and she had to be lead on to believe she was what she was becoming.

Draco, now in the room with her, walked over to where she sat and looked down at her, kissing her on the forehead.

"Just another 41 hours Kiara and we'll let you out."  He said softly, although the glint in his eyes was one of hatred.

"Ok Draco."

Draco turned and walked from the room, a smile of the darkest sort written on his face.

Max rested in his home, he had talked to Harry and Ginny, they both agreed that he should take off after the stone but not until he was sure he could control his anger.  Meeting Evan and wanting to gain something that belonged to his was not going to easy and if he lost his temper over it, he would never get it.

Moloch was still at his home with him; it seemed to Max that he was keeping a close eyes on him as Moloch seemed to never stop watching him

"What?"  Max finally said after he had resolved to go into the world in which Evan now dwelled.

"It's about time you put your jealousy away Max.  Now go, bring back the stone so we can find Kiara, and hurry, haste I fear is your best friend just now."  Moloch answered simply, ignoring the irritation in Max's' voice.

CHAPTER THREE:  A Run in With The Devil

Draco and Kiara sat, side by side in the throne room at the hidden Keep.  Kiara's emerald eyes reflected nothing of her former self, only the hatred and loathing for the world she had protected for so long.  The throne room was large with a huge sword hanging on the wall behind the Kings throne.  This sword, was known as the God Slayer, it belonged to the late Great Belgarian of Riva, Kiara's former Master.

Had Kiara been in her right senses, she would have taken that sword down from its resting place and killed Draco on the spot.  His use of the Rivan Keep as a hide out was not the wisest decision he could have made, however, he found it to be ironic that the very place Kiara had learned to control her powers, be the same place, he owned them.

"What is this place you have found for us, Draco?"  Kiara purred, her voice only an echo of what it had used to be.

Draco smiled.

"It is of no concern, Kiara.  It is a place to hang out until you decide you are ready to take control over the world."  He responded, still not sure he should reveal the fact that this was the Rivan Keep.

Kiara looked at him as if he were nothing more than a wizard in her way.  This sent shivers down his spine, knowing that the only thing keeping her from killing him was the Soulstone presently residing in his cloak pocket.  His hand went to it as if seeking comfort in the feel of it against his fingers.

Kiara smiled a knowing smile; there was however nothing mirthful about that smile and Draco cringed within himself at what she might be thinking.

"Oh, I know what your thoughts are Draco and it brings me pleasure that you do indeed understand your position.  I only follow your instructions because you give me no other choice.  You just be sure to keep that stone close to you, for your bringing me to my old masters Keep for your own sick humor, was not the wisest choice my friend.  Although I may not be capable of what you would call love, I do respect Lord Belgarian in ways you could never possibly understand and for you to make fun of his memory, will certainly cost you your life, when I gain the stone for my self."  Kiara told him, her voice low and echoing through the air, almost as if every word she spoke, was being repeated by something else.

Then, with out waiting fro Draco to recover from his shock, Kiara stood and walked from the room, an unfortunate Death Eater entered just as she was walking out and was instantly killed in her anger by a force of power Draco had never known even her to be capable of.

Kiara made no move or even blinked, she just kept walking as the wizard passed her, he fell, no sound came from him, no warning, nothing, he just simply fell to the floor dead.

"Are you quite certain you wish to try and control that power Draco Malfoy?"  A voice entered his head.

Draco froze, several chills of fright ran down his spine, this was not something he had planned on, The Devil had been watching him, and now, he'd have to trust on his hold of the Soulstone to keep himself in control.

"You know she'll kill you in the end, New Dark Lord, perhaps we can cut a deal."  The Devils' voice cut through his mind again.

"My Lord, I can not let her away from me this time, I must prove myself to all the others..."

He was cut short by the Devils' laugh, searing through the Hall and thought, just for a moment that he could actually see the flames of Hell in his throne room.

"Your pathetic desires to prove yourself will only prove you dead.  Let me have the stone, I can do so much more with her than you, human."  The Devil spat, his anger evident in his echoing voice.

Draco shivered but his determination held true and as the Devils voice disappeared from his mind, he stood and went after Kiara.

*****
Max walked through the gate of Hades, his lip curled in disgust at he smells of the place.

The three headed dog, Cerberus, jumped towards him but stopped, as if froze and max raised his brow, knowing that something was afoot here perhaps he was expected.

It didn't take him long to make his way down into the catacombs f hell, his mind searching for any link to Evan he could find.  He found it odd, however that none of the creatures seemed to bother him and that his advance was seemingly cleared of all obstacles.  The Devil most certainly wanted him to find what he sought, but why was the question.  For now, he'd just have to continue, this was his only course of action to regain his wife and even if it meant doing an unknown favor for the Devil, he'd just have to do it.

KIARA

After following the caves that wound deeper and deeper into the earth, he finally came to a black door made of an element he was not familiar with and he stopped, considered it then after close observation, he decided to open it.

He walked in the room and looked up at the Demon form of his wife's ex-guardian, Evan.

Evan stared at him, his temper not exactly in the friendly stage, evidently, he had indeed been waiting for Max and he most certainly was not happy about it.

"I know what you seek, Max.  What are you willing to trade for it."  Evan growled in his demon like voice.

Max studied him before answering.

Evan's normal golden colored hair was now black and his eyes burned a red the likes of which matched the fires surrounding the edges of this room.  His wings had darkened and turned a shade of charcoal and Max noticed the end of fangs, protruding slightly from the opening in his sneered lips.

"That would depend on rather you actually intend on giving me the stone, Evan."  Max answered, barely able to keep his satisfied tone from reaching Evans ears.

Max had come to the conclusion that Evan deserved the change forced upon him, after all, he did try, more than once, to take Kiara form him and Max, was not going to forgive him for that, not ever, he didn't think.

Evan began to pace the floor of the room, his wings situated in an offensive manner, as if he were ready for battle at any point.

Max tensed slightly, not sure if he'd actually have to fight for his prize or not, hoping, he wouldn't have to; he knew it would be a pretty even match.

"Well, Johnson, what is it?  What are you willing to give up for the right to find your wife?"  Evan turned and glared at him, awaiting his answer most impatiently.

"What is it you want Evan?  I don't want to play these games with you, I'm rather in a hurry, just spit it out.  What ever it is, I'm sure it won't be too high a price to pay to get Kiara back to me."  Max spat at him, his temper beginning to rise.

Evan narrowed his eyes and flexed his wings, also very irritated.

"I don't know Johnson, perhaps you might find it too high a price.  The thing I want is something of you.  A little token to say I bested you in the end."  Evan stated quite calmly now, his manner almost as relaxed and evil as his fathers.  "However, its not just anything, you see, I have made a stone, all it needs added to it, is a soul, your soul.  Give it to the stone and I'll give you the stone of truth, then you may have Kiara for your own, decide not to give it willingly, then Kiara will be ours."  Evan finished, a wicked smile crossing his lips the likes of which sent actual chills down Max's spine.

Max froze for a moment, he hadn't thought of this course, what would happen if he too had a Soulstone like Kiara's'?  How would that affect the future of their lives together?  He took a deep breath and began to pace the room.

"What d you mean, ours?  I thought..."

Evan cut him off.

"What's your answer Johnson?"

"Just to complete your stone, nothing more?"  Max started, his pacing ceased.  "How will you use this stone if I decide to help you with it?"  He finished, turning to face Evan, his eyes narrowed and questioning.

"That, is yet to be seen Johnson.  Perhaps nothing at all, perhaps, I may need your help at some time and call on you for a favor."  Evan answered.

Max sighed, there was only one way to get what he desired and so, against his better judgment, he relented.

"Ok Evan, you win, you've backed me into a corner that I can not escape, I will give you what you ask for, in return, I only ask that you don't lose this one."  Max said, a little peevishly.  He couldn't stand the fact that Evan had him in that proverbial corner with no way out but to feed the monster that held him there.

Evan growled slightly at the bash against him but smiled all the same, he knew he had won.

"Very well Johnson..." Evan replied then, before Max knew what was happening, Evan had him on the ground, his hand pressed against his temples, a burning sensation crept through him like he'd never before felt.

Max remembered little after that, except hearing his own agonizing scream echoing through his own mind, then the next thing he knew, he was sitting on his couch, an incandescent blue stone sitting in his hands and a headache the likes of which he'd never want to feel again.

Chapter Four:  The Power you seek, may not be what you wanted

Draco caught up with Kiara and fell in stride next to her.  He was silent as they walked the halls, the torch light that flickered along the walls cast shadows on their faces, making the two of them look even more menacing than before.

Kiara finally stopped and turned to Draco who had ceased moving as well.

"What do you think you are to gain by using my powers for you own personal delights Draco?"  She asked, her voice now both quiet and curious.

Draco was taken by this question, he had not really thought about the consequences that might come of his making one so powerful obey him and do his bidding.  He had not thought about what could happen to him if he did indeed come to loose the Soulstone.  He quite honestly had never thought what it was he was actually gaining.

Kiara continued to look at him with that same questioning look, it felt to Draco as if suddenly he couldn't breath.  Perhaps he was wrong in doing this, perhaps..  Then he suddenly realized that it wasn't himself that was questioning, it was her questioning that made him feel this way.  What he had done, was succeed in letting Kiara know his thoughts but he couldn't stop her, no matter how he tried to shut his mind down, she stayed there, even his calling upon the Soulstone for help didn't work, she just continued to look at him with that questioning glance, if only he could look away but he found he couldn't, the one thing he had forgotten when he decided to change her, was that the old, passionate Kiara would be gone.  The one he looked at now, the one who had him lost in his own thoughts, was both very cold and any form of compassion had left her, she was what one would call the ultimate in evil, he had not even felt this way when he looked into her fathers' eyes.

Kiara continued to hold his mind in hers, continued to drill into his very soul.  Draco was held, helpless, thinking that perhaps the power he sought, was not really what he wanted after all.

Then, he felt his hand slip into his cloak pocket, grasping the Soulstone in his fingers and sliding his hand out.  He couldn't stop himself, even though his mind screamed at him to stop her, he couldn't.  She had him where she wanted and he was going to give her the stone, he was going to die for what he did and it was no ones fault but his own.

Kiara continued to hold him, his thoughts slipping past his conscious as quickly as a train passes through a dark tunnel in the night.

She held out her hand.

"You don't want that Draco, its mine, I deserve to keep it.  Give it to me Draco."   Her voice was so sweet, he couldn't resist, and he handed it to her.

Then, just as suddenly as it started, the link broke, Draco snapped out his wand and held it at her.

Kiara looked at him as it he were nuts and laughed.

"Now Draco, what ever is your problem?  You know you can't hurt me, put that thing away."  Kiara said in a droning like tone.

"Av....Avada...Ked..." But no words could form from his lips, he dropped his wand to the stone floor, heard as it clattered and seemed to echo through the halls as if there were no one else alive in the Fortress, no one but the two of them to make any sound.

Indeed, he was correct in his thought of no one else being there.  At least, no one that was alive at any rate.  Kiara had killed them all, every last Death eater, and, Pansy, Lucius and Draco's youngest son even.  All dead, all because she wanted revenge on Draco as the last of her memories slipped from her mind.

Draco tired to move but suddenly found that every muscle in his body was froze, all that is, except for his jaw.   He found that breathing was difficult and he moved his eyes to meet Kiara's'.  What he found there, made him gasp.  He remembered looking into only one other pair of eyes that were so evil that intent on killing everyone and everything, those of the devil himself.  However, even the Devils' eyes did not match the hatred that hers did.

"Draco, Draco, Draco.  What ever should I do with you?  It would seem that you, my friend, have been a really bad boy.  I have put up with your wining and sniveling for too many long years now.  I hope you enjoyed my power, why you possessed it.  Did it taste good?  Was it worth the deaths of your family? "  Kiara laughed at the look of horror on his face.  "Yes Draco, I am afraid your sons and that little wife of yours have paid the price of your obsession too.  I have killed them; they died the same as that Death Eater in Bulgarians' throne room." She finished, turning her back on him and tossing her Soulstone in the air and catching it again with a grin.  "Did you really think you could control me the way the journals state?  Did you not realize that in order for you to control me like that, you'd have to be a God?"  She laughed again turning on him, her face very close to his.

"But it said..." Draco started then closed his mouth.

As soon as Max could move with out wanting to hurl, he stood and walked to the table, placing the stone carefully on its surface and looked at it.

It seemed not be too extraordinary, except for the fact that it did indeed glow.  He took his hand off it and the incandescence of it dissolved, leaving it to look like nothing more than an ordinary blue stone.  He raised his brow and reached his hand towards it again, as son as his hand was with in inches of the stone, it began to glow again, faintly.  He touched it.  The stone flared with a new life, the glow was so intense that Max had to look away before it died down again.  At the same time however, he could hear, in his mind, a singing of sorts, as if the stone its self was signing to him, welcoming him.

Max smiled, the first smile he had worn since Kiara had disappeared.  He knew not why the stone made him feel happy but he, unknown to him, find the answer.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked around.  Moloch had appeared again and was looking at the stone.

"Touch it."  Max offered.

Moloch hissed and drew back.

"Not if I want to live I wont."  He said, shaking his head.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that if some one was to touch that stone and not be meant to touch it.  It would kill them."  Moloch answered, looking at he stone at a careful distance.  "This is a power you can seek all your life but can never posses unless that stone, wishes you to posses it.  There was only one other line that was able to posses such a thing. And the last known wielder of the God made stone, was Belgarian The sorcerer."  Moloch finished with a wink.

"You mean to tell me that this stone is the stone that Belgarian had in the hilt of his sword when he killed the God Torak?  The evil God of the Angaraks?"  Max returned, knowing the story, had hearing Kiara tell it a few times.

Moloch nodded.

"Be careful Max, it is pure power with in its self and do not go seeking to use it for destroying anyone, or thing, Like I am sure Kiara has told you.  This stone has a mind of its own; it's alive and does not like to be used.  Sometimes, power is best left alone.  Now here, take the paper and hold the stone up to read by."

The lights in the room went out, leaving the only light coming from the truth stone.

The piece of parchment lay on the table and the blue light from the stone cast on it.

Max read finally, the two words written on the paper they were more of short sentences, than the two words they thought they were.

Isle of the Winds

RIVAN KEEP.

"She's home..." Max said silently.

Moloch shook his head, unbelieving of what he read on the paper.

"Draco is not too bright, is he?  Kiara's powers in that Keep are far stronger than any place in the world.  How much you want to bet he's dead by time we get here?"  Moloch said with a whistle.

K then, I finished the Chapter for ya.   :D

*Shh Draco, quiet now."  Kiara whispered, kissing his lips softly.

At the same time, Max and Moloch appeared in the hall, Moloch grabbed Max's arm and motioned him to silence.

Kiara's attention turned to the two intruders she tilted her head, feeling they were not one with Draco and not a threat, she returned her attention to the one she was about to kill.

"You've been longing for this a ling time Draco, let me ease your suffering once and for all."  Kiara continued, her voice quiet, almost loving in nature.

Max felt as though he wanted to rush over and stop her, but he couldn't move, nor could he speak.  He turned to Moloch who nodded and looked at Kiara.

Kiara then took Draco's' head in her hands and pressed her lips against his.  There was no pain in him, no emotion other than pure astonishment.  Max felt a slight wisp of cool air pass though him then saw, as Kiara's face moved away from Draco, a shining light, exiting from Draco and enter Kiara's mouth as Draco's' body fell lifelessly to the floor.

The instant Draco's body hit the floor, Kiara turned to regard her visitors, a questioning look about her expression.

"Careful Max."  Moloch cautioned.

Max nodded, still in a bit of shock at the ease of Draco's death.

"Kiara?"  He questioned.

Kiara inclined her head to him as if in acknowledgement.

"And you would be?"  She asked, her voice still quiet, yet giving off a warning that Max definitely decided he had best pay attention to.

"Max Johnson.  Kiara I'm..."

Moloch placed a hand on his arm, and warned him not to say too much, les sit irritate her.

Max pulled his arm away and stepped closer to Kiara.

Kiara laughed and tossed her Soulstone again, catching it in her hands and began to twirl it around her two hands, much the same as she used to always twirl that fire-orb.

"You are brave max Johnson.  You seem to know me, have some interesting memories of me, yet I do not remember you.  How is this?"  She asked, her curiosity peeked once again.

"Careful Max."  Moloch said between clenched teeth.

Kiara's eyes slowly moved to regard Moloch for a moment.  She inclined her head to him as well.

Moloch repeated her motion, saying nothing, knowing he need not to.

Kiara's eyes left Moloch then and returned to Max.

"You seem to seek me out, much the same as that one."  She nodded at Draco's body, her eyes never coming off of Max.  :"However there is something different.  You do not seek power only..." She trailed off, a slight look of confusion now entering her expression.  "Love?"  She finished,

However, before max could say a single thing, Evan appeared, standing next to Kiara, his hand stretched out to her.

"Come with me Kiara, your master wishes your company.  We must go, NOW."  He commanded.

:"No, you promised Evan.  You promised I'd get her back again."  Max growled,

"Really?  Well, I guess I did, didn't I?  Well sorry max, my father never made you that promise and he, over rides my word."  Evan replied; taking Kiara's hand and the two disappeared.

As Kiara vanished, Max noticed her eyes never left him, the same questioning look in them.  He knew he was about to break through what ever it was that held her.

CHAPTER FIVE:  HISTORY 101

"NO!"  Max yelled, his anger getting the best of him.

Then, he changed into his demon form, his rage building with every breath, his black, dragon-like wings tearing through his robe and something else, the stone he still carried burst forth in a deep red glow, as if in answer to his rage, a light shot from it, opening up a rift to Hell.  But just as Max jumped to it, Moloch, also in his full Demon form stood suddenly in front of it, Max slammed into him, unable to stop his forward movement, Moloch's' impressive form didn't even budge.  It was like hitting a brick wall at a full run and Max fell back, his lip curled.

"Get out of he way Moloch."  He growled.

"No Max, I'm afraid the only way you are getting through is to kill me.  Moloch answered, his eyes on the stone, still glowing red with the anger from Max.

Max looked at Moloch, to the stone, and then back to Moloch again.  He didn't want to use the stone, it would definitely kill him and Max didn't want that, he couldn't defeat Moloch and he knew it, so, he growled and began pacing.

"Before you go chasing the shadow of your wife."  Moloch started, no anger in his voice.  "You might want to take a look around the Keep first, so you know what it is you chase after."  He finished, his voice calm, almost soothing.

Max started to relax, Moloch was right, he'd have to deal with this in another way, and he'd need information.  As he calmed, so did the stone and before Max knew it, he was listening to that song in his mind again, the rift the stone created had closed and the stone was glowing blue again.

"What's with this thing anyway, Moloch?"  Max asked, his voice calming and questioning, his form changing back to normal again.

Come and walk with me, get to know who you chase Max.  We can talk about the Orb of Aldur you hold in your hand as well.

Max turned to him another question dawning on his expression.

"I thought it was called the stone f truth.  What's going on here Moloch, why does it react this way?  I felt the power it held.  The instant I wanted something, it gave it to me."

Moloch laughed, his form had changed as well, his once again, silvery dragon-like eyes looked at Max and he shook his head slightly.

"Come on, let me show you first, what Kiara has become then, we can talk all you want about the orb."  Moloch told him.

Max nodded then Moloch turned and began walking back towards a door, he opened it and motioned Max to enter.  Max did as he was asked and stopped in his tracks at he sight.

"Kiara did this?  She even killed the young boy..." Max said quietly.

"They aren't dead in the sense that you think, look at them Max, look at their eyes, I would even venture to guess that their bodies are still warm."  Moloch answered, his tone a bit distasteful.

Max knelt and turned one of the bodies over and indeed, it was warm to his touch, he looked at the child's eyes and a chill ran through his spine.

The eyes of the child were black; he seemed quite dead, but not dead.

Max stood and regarded Moloch his look confused.

"They are soulless Max.  Kiara has become the soul collector, however, unlike the Dementors, when she collects a soul, it only proves to build her power and, if she so chooses, she can reanimate the soulless for her own army."  Moloch stated quiet calmly.

"So, that's how the Devil plans to use her power then?"  Max asked.

Moloch nodded.

"If you were to openly confront Kiara now, you would just end up like Draco, that's why I couldn't let you go after her.  Your anger would have made you threaten her master, in turn, she would have attacked you, and..." Moloch nodded at the orb still in Max's hand.  "That would never openly attack Kiara and although you don't want to believe it, she would have destroyed you with out a second thought."  Moloch finished.

The two men turned from the room, closing the door behind them and walked to the throne room.

As they entered, Max looked around and saw the giant sword hanging from the wall behind the late Rivan Kings throne.  He looked at he stone as it had grown a pale color, and it's song changed to one of sadness.  Max smiled to himself.  This orb truly did have a consciousness, it even felt loss.  He was now even more intrigued than ever before, He continued to look around at the vast size of the throne room.  It was huge, nothing he had ever seen before compared to the sheer vastness of the place, he though that perhaps one could put two of the Great Halls at Hogwarts into this one room.

"Was that the sword Belgarian used to slay the God?"  Max asked.

Moloch nodded his head; his expression too, was of sadness and max could feel the loss in him, just as strongly as the day Kiara had found out that her old master had perished.

"Take a seat Max, there is a lot you need to know and I'm afraid you won't be able to go after Kiara until you learn."  Moloch said in a hushed tone.

Max nodded then went and took a seat on the Rivan throne. He had never been to the Isle of the Winds, had only heard the many stories of the place from Kiara and now, being here, sitting in the throne room where the great balls had been held, the ones Kiara would tell him about when she was only a little girl, still in training.  He smiled to himself and thought that perhaps after this was all over, he'd have to bring her back here.

Moloch paced in front of the throne then looked at Max, still holding the orb in his hands.
"Why don't you set it in its resting place in the hilt of the sword."  He suggested.

"Ok" Max replied simply, turning and placing the orb in the empty hole of the Rivan Kings sword.

It made a loud click and the orb once again burst to life, sending a blue flame down the blade of the mighty sword, bathing the whole Throne room in a bluish light.   Max turned and eyed Moloch, waiting.

"Alright Max, if you think you're ready then I shall begin."  Moloch started, his pacing stopping and his eyes falling on Max. When Max remained silent, Moloch continued.  "  I'll start at the beginning of the story then, with the Orb of Aldur.

You see, the orb was not always alive, it was created by the God Aldur, over 3000 years ago and has passed through the hands of many of the Rivan line, only that line was thought to have the capability to handle the orb however, the orb seemed to have the ability to choose who it let touch it.  Not many had the nerve to do it, but Kiara, when she was only 4 years old, wandered into he throne room and heard the orb singing to her and crept up to the sword and took it from its resting lace and they have been together every since.

There have however, always been two stones, one good and one evil.  Kal Torak, the Evil God that Belgarian destroyed so many years ago had made the other orb and it is still in existence as well, only it is not as active in the role-playing as the Orb of Aldur."  Moloch stopped and regarded Max for a moment before continuing.  "Kiara's Soul is encased in the other Orb.  It is her Soulstone, the Devil made sure of that.  That is why she turns so easily and that is why you MUST be careful when you go after her.  Just because the stone doesn't react to people the same as that one, it doesn't mean that its powers are any less.  Did you notice Aldurs Orb burning in your hand when we first arrived in the hall?"

Max shook his head; he guessed he was too preoccupied in his thoughts to have noticed.

"Well, it was, the whole time.  The two stones need to stay separated, if they come together, the whole world would be destroyed.  That, is another reason I couldn't let you go after her, the Orb would have reacted through you to try and destroy its other half, resulting in a cataclysmic disaster."  Moloch finished

Max turned at eyed the rob resting peacefully in the hilt of the Rivans sword.

"You wanted to kill as much as me, didn't you?"  He said quietly to it.

As if in reaction to his words, the orb flared up again, singing its mentally refreshing song in Max's mind.  Then things changed and it began to show him pictured of the war between Kal Torak and Belgarian.  Max closed his eyes and watched.

Moloch knew what was happening, the orb always wanted to show off for the people it loved.  So, he started his pacing again and waited.

Chapter Six:  Unexpected Imprisonment

Kiara sat on the stone chair, next to her Master, her eyes fell upon the creatures dwelling in the lower levels of Hell.  A slight look of total boredom had consumed her features and she turned to the Devil who, was currently in hs human form, possibly for the benefit of her.  Although she figured that he quiet possibly longed for this form again in some way or another.

Hiss long silvery hair, mixed with black, reminded her of the chains she saw in the Oubliettes in the lowest levels.  His eyes, were as human as possible, the main difference being that he had no pupils, the color was black, there were no whites.  The clothing he chose to wear was of old style Gothic.  She figured probably early 17th century.

Evan had left them almost as soon as they reached the Devils lair.  He seemed a little preoccupied with something else and dismissed himself.  Kiara didn't remember his former self, she only knew of the here and now.

The Devil turned his black eyes on her and raised a brow in curiosity as to why she studied him so closely.  Kiara merely grinned, a most malicious grin in deed.

"You wonder why I study your form, Master.  It's simplicity in its self really.  I want to know my enemies well, and you, master, seem to be the most dangerous one I have.  Perhaps after our wedding, I will understand you more."  She said quite calmly and honestly.

"You are most perceptive Kiara.   I am indeed your greatest enemy and, perhaps after our wedding you feel I will kill you.  You might not be far off."  The Devil responded in the same manner.

Kiara nodded in acceptance of his proposal of a battle between the two of them.

"But for now, I must be off, I need acquire your wedding gift."  The Devil continued.

Kiara raised her brow once again.

"you offer me a gift?  I am honored my Lord.  Me thinks however that I do have something for you already."  She replied with the same casual threat in her voice.

The Devil disappeared leaving behind him a laugh that stated he couldn't wait for her present.

Kiara ran her hand over the hidden dagger bestowed upon her by the Demon Evan, the Devil's son.  It was her gift to her master; his long sleep would begin if she delivered her gift at the precise time.

Max and Moloch continued their conversation about Kiara and the Orb of Aldur.  Max turned his head slightly as he noticed the song the orb sang to him had changed.  He noticed that the color had begun to change again; it blue was changing to a deep red.

"Something comes for you Max."  Moloch stated, drawing his huge sword.

Max stood too, his hand reaching for the Rivan sword almost automatically.

"Don't Max, this fight is not for the Orb, as much as it calls to be wielded again, it must stay out of this fight."  Moloch stated, looking about the Hall for the intruder.

Max lowered his hand and turned, then, as he had taken the step down from the dais, the doors flew open and Evan, backed by several of the fallen Death eaters, an army of slaves, strolled in.

"What do you need, Demon."  Moloch spat, holding his sword at the ready.

"Put your toy away master Demon."  Evan replied quietly.  "You know as well as I, you have no need for it."  He finished, looking now to Max.

Max noticed the necklace around Evans' neck; at the end of it was an ice-blue colored stone, the Soulstone that Evan had just recently acquired.

Evan and the legion of slaves advanced further into the room, none of them making an aggressive move, total control is the thought that ran through Moloch's' head as the sight as they seemingly moved as one creature.

"I want him."  Evan stated, pointing a claw-like finger at Max, his burning eyes searing into the very depths of Max's mind.

"You can't have him, I need him Evan.  You can't take him, or you wont, not with out a fight."  Moloch answered, his form changing once again to the Demon of earlier.

Evan hissed, he had hoped that Moloch would stay out of this.  He was no more a match for Moloch than Max was and this was the reason for the slaves behind him.  At first glance it seemed only a handful, but Max noticed that the whole of the soulless had massed in the room now, nearly filling its vastness.  There had to be no less than a thousand of them.

Moloch stepped forward, as did the legion of soulless, each one focused solely on Moloch.

"Wait!"  Max shouted, but too late, Moloch was taken under by the mass hordes of the soulless, he had come up a few times, rendering hundreds of the creatures in half with his sword, but was taken down again, each time.  There was clearly too many of them.

Max began to draw his power up but was stopped; he glared at Evan who stood, still motionless, running his fingers over the stone about his neck.

"Sorry old boy, but I have need of you else where."  Evan replied, then before Max knew what was happening, he saw only blackness, then the sounds of the fight slowly disappeared; he was unconscious.

Harry paced the floor of his office again.  It had been two days since he had heard a word from Max.  The last he knew, Max had gone after Kiara to her old home in the Isle of the Winds.

Ginny opened his door slowly, her red hair shining brilliantly in the light of the office.

"Harry?  Any word yet?  I'm starting to worry.  It just isn't like him not to keep you posted on things."  She said, as she came in and closed the door behind her.

"I know Gin, maybe we need to take a trip.  I'm sure the Minister wouldn't mind.  He probably would like to know what's going on with his son as well."  Harry replied.

Ginny smiled.

"Yes, I think you are right.  I'll go ask, you get ready and I'll meet you out side in an hour."

"Ok Gin and let him know we won't come back with out some word of his sons whereabouts."  Harry added, then turned and gathered some things form his desk as Ginny walked out.

Harry and Ginny showed up in front of the Rivan keep not more than three hours later.  They looked  up at the massive double doors and at the climb they'd have to take to get to them.

The stone steps were huge, as if they had been built for Giants and there were well over 50 of them.

Ginny sighed and she and Harry started their climb.

They reached the doors and Harry gave them a big push; they opened quite easily, Harry shrugged and the two of them stepped inside.  They made their way down the great hallways and past door after door, no sign of life any where, not even the slightest noise came to their ears, however, they noticed that the flames in the torches seemed to be newly lilt and that the air about the place was less than pleasant.  It smelled somewhat like more a massive blood bath had taken place some place close.

They both stopped just outside the throne room, each peeking in.  Ginny gasped then almost hurled at the sight.  Harry walked in, his eyes falling on the one survivor in the room.

Inside the throne room, the usually glistening white floor was covered in a lake of blood, thousands of bodies lay either scattered or atop one another, some rather most had been sliced clean in half by, what Harry guessed would have been the sword still clutched in Moloch's hand.

Harry stepped further in the room and slowly and cautiously walked towards Moloch.  He was careful not to disturb the bodies of the fallen and tried to stay on dry floor, of course, it was almost impossible.

Ginny followed closely behind, she averted her eyes from the chaos surrounding her.  As they came to a stop, a few feet away from the battle worn Demon, Ginny noticed he was watching them.  A shiver ran down her spine like some one had taken a piece of ice and ran it down the length of her back.

Moloch's Demon form was scary enough on its own but having him sit there, his massive black sword sunk into the stone floor, blood dripping from both it and him, it was rather nerve slitting.

"Moloch?"  Harry started then waited for Moloch to acknowledge him.  "What happened here?"   He finished, looking around once more.

"I had a little fight."  Moloch answered in a normal, calm tone.

"Little?"  Ginny put in, her look was more than a little surprised at his ease of the word little when one looked at the thousands of bodies littering the throne room.  "I would say it's more like you've had a huge fight."  She finished.

Moloch looked at her and a slight smile crept over his demonic face.

"Well, I guess it was a bit larger than I'd have liked.  I'm tired, and Max is gone."  He stated, and then mumbled something about stupid demon princes and their fathers.

"What do you mean, Max is gone?  Where did he go?"  Harry asked.

"How in the hell should I know?  I was a bit preoccupied at the time, however, it was Evan who took him so I'd gather he's probably with Kiara, in Hell." Moloch answered in a gruff, almost angry tone.  "That little twerp knew he couldn't take me so sent these soulless slaves to distract me until he could get Max and be clear of here by the time I killed them all.  Just wait till I meat him again, next time, he's going to be stuffed in a dragon's mouth and eaten.  That'll give him time to think about what he did to me."  He finished.

"Hum, excuse me Moloch, but lets try to focus on how to get Max and Kiara back for now, I think you could start planning Evans punishment later."  Ginny said, her usual tone coming back now that she had gotten over the initial shock of the situation.

Moloch took a deep breath, stood then pulled his sword from the stone floor and sheathed it.  Then, he turned his demonic face towards Ginny.

"You really can be just like your mother at times, you know that don't you?"  He started, and then closed his eyes, letting his human form retake shape.  "Now, there is no way that stupid git of a Devil is going o let us inside the gates of Hades so, if you have another way, I suggest you start thinking on how to use it because we are running short on time."  Moloch finished, looking between Harry and Ginny.

He looked extremely tired and worn, but Harry could tell he was not any where near, the end of his rope.  He raised a brow, thinking of how horrid it would be if Moloch decided at any point, to choose the other side.  A shiver ran down his spine thinking of it.

Moloch glanced over his shoulder at the now blazing blue orb, in the hilt of the Rivan kings sword and smiled.

"Max is still alive but he won't be for long if he doesn't get out of there.  The Devil has to make Kiara kill him after they wed, t seal the fate of the world.  Why?  You want to know.  Well, Ill tell you this, Max Johnson is the only person alive that can turn Kiara at any point.  It has always been so and it will always be so.  We have a total of 3 days to get them out of there.  We may not be able to help them."  Moloch finished looking between the two rapt listeners.

Harry began to pace and Ginny looked around.  She screwed up her face n concentration and the bodies of the fallen began to disappear from the room, along with them, the blood on the floor too, left.  After several minutes, the Rivan throne room was once again just as sparkling as ever, perhaps more so.

"There."  She said with a note of satisfaction.

Moloch laughed and shook his head.

"You also seem to have the knack of liking a tidy room."  He said then sat on the nearest chair in thought or, perhaps just resting, Ginny couldn't tell.

CHAPTER SEVEN:  The Deal

"So, what was Draco's' whole point of trying to control Kiara then Moloch?  I just don't get it."  Harry asked, tearing his eyes away form the luminescent orb in the hilt of the great sword.

"If Draco had reigned for more than a year, with Kiara at his side, he'd have become unstoppable but he failed to realize the power of this place.  He failed to realize that this, having held the only memories of Kiara's child hood, was in its self, magical.  He lost because he loved irony too much."  Moloch started.  "Ironic, isn't it?  That Draco met his demise simply because he wanted to prove to the world that he could control or rather have something that Max had."  Moloch finished, shaking his head.

Harry nodded, and looked over at Ginny.  She was sitting in front of a massive wall, its surface clear of all decorations.  Her eyes were closed and Harry noticed she was concentrating quite hard.

Harry turned to Moloch and winked.

"I think we've found the perfect way to found where Max is located, exactly."  He said quietly.

Moloch tilted his head then stood and walked over to Ginny's side, Harry right behind.

The Devil had returned and presented Kiara with her gift.  She wore it now making her look all the less like her normal self than ever before.

The gift he had presented her with was a gown, to be her wedding gown.  It was black, of a material unknown to human kind.  It shimmered, and was cut low ion the front, the back high, ending in a collar that flared out ward just to the edge of her shoulders.  Along with the gown came both an onyx necklace, tearing down her neck in a pyramid shape to her color bone and, a headdress, made of black diamonds as well as onyx then dangled over her forehead.

Kiara looked at herself a slight smile on her face then turned and walked from the room to sit once again, next to her new Lord.  She looked pleased and the Devil smiled.

"I trust then, that the gown is to your liking?"  He asked.

"Yes My Lord, perfect for what the occasion calls for."  Kiara replied, now looking out over the vast space before her, the lights of the flames flickering in her emerald eyes.

After a moment of silence, Kiara turned to her Lord and looked at him, curiously again.

"You have yet more questions?"  The Devil asked, more than a but annoyed.

"Yes My Lord, but if you wish for me to leave you alone, I will not ask."  She responded, knowing he'd let her ask anyway.

"Ask then, my love.  What is it you seek?"

"Only just a small question, who id it that you hold down below?"

The Devil remained silent for a moment then a smile crept over his evil features.

"It is none of your concern, for now.  Forget about it."  He answered.

Kiara turned her eyes back over the vast plain again, thinking, her ever busy mind wanting to know what it was, despite his warning to let it drop.

"Yes My Lord."  She said automatically, although, she of course, had no intentions of forgetting.

Max woke in blackness; the heat of the room was stifling.  He tried to stand, but then realized he was chained.

"Great!"  He said out loud.

After a bit, his eyes began to focus to the darkness and he could tell, if nothing else, he was in a room with no visible doors and, his powers to anything about his predicament, had been blocked.  He felt as though there was nothing he could do, but he'd be proven wrong, shortly.

"Max, listen, I'm trying to locate you, where are you?"  Ginny was projecting the message.

Harry sat behind her.

"Can you see him yet?"  He asked.

Ginny glared at Harry.

"Stop interrupting me Harry, this isn't easy you know."  Ginny spat.

Moloch just stood, shaking his head at the two of them.  Always arguing they were, even when they had other things to worry about.

"Here, let me try."  Harry said.

"Go ahead Harry."  Ginny replied.

After several hours of trying, the two of them had to give up.  The mental strain was beginning to be to much.

Then, Ginny sat up and smiled, she had heard Max's voice.  He had made contact.

"Where are you?"  Ginny asked.

But Max had gone silent; he seemed to be preoccupied with something else.  Ginny could still feel him, but couldn't hear him any more.

"Kiara, I know you can hear me."  Max was saying.

He had felt her, although her normal signature feel, was fogged, he knew it was her all the same.  She had not changed so much yet that he couldn't recognize her in the other millions of minds surrounding him.

Kiara Looked over at her Lord and excused herself.

"I'm going for a walk" She said.

The Devil seemed to know something was up, but let her go all the same.

Kiara walked up to the first pain of hell, the barren land surrounding her gave her no pleasure, and however, it was peaceful.

"Who are you?"  She asked the voice that had spoke to her.

"You can still hear me?"  Max said, his voice sounding a bit surprised at the fact.

"What are you talking about?  Of course I can hear you."  Kiara sits upon a stone in the middle of the plain, her dress covering its massive structure.

"I suppose you asked your Lord who was in the oubliette?"  He asked, hoping her curiosity had not changed along with her new outlook on life.

Kiara narrows her eyes.  This man was becoming a little more interesting than she had at first thought.

"I did ask him.  How did you know I would ask?" Kiara responded.

"Never mind that.  What did he tell you?"  Max persisted, still not answering her question as to who he was.

"He told me that it was not of my concern, so I suppose, it's not.  Why do you ask?"

"However, you still want to know, don't you?"  He answered her question with yet another of his own.

"Of course I want to know."  She growled.  The sound of which made the hair on Max's arms stand on end.  "Why do you continue to answer my questions with a question?"  She finished, clearly getting angry.

Max was beginning to enjoy this.  She truly didn't know whom he was or where to find him, yet so, he once again, decided to tease her a bit more.

"What can I say, I'm a curios person.  However, you should know that already."

Kiara, irritated, sent a small thought of pain to him, making Max flinch painfully.

"Stop playing Games, I tire of this."  She sent after the thought.

Max was silent, Kiara let him be so, knowing she had hurt him quite bad in her thought.

"Ok, I'll tell you, just don't do that again."  Max started after he had gotten the pain under control.  "I'm the prisoner.  What else do you want to know?" He finished.

Kiara bit her lip.  She knew she'd be punished for talking to him however she couldn't help herself.  It wasn't in her to let this go, she had to know.

"Well, I want your name for starters, seeing as how you already know mine, and why does he hold you?"  She asked.

"My name is Max Johnson."  He started, a smile crossing his lips now at he enjoyment this last part is going to give him.  "The reason he holds me is because I am your husband."

Kiara gains a look of almost pure surprise at his answer.  Then, she narrows her eyes and is quiet for but a moment as she regains her composure.

"You lie.  I am to Wed my Lord and Master in but a day.  I know not you or anything having to do with you.  It is no wonder he holds you down there, you are absolutely insane and I think I should not have chosen to speak to you."

"He must have forgotten to get our marriage annulled first then."  Max laughs.  "You say I'm lying however, for a moment, I did feel your mind reach out then flinch back in confusion.  Do you really think I'm playing a game?  What do I have to gain by playing a game with you Kiara?"  He finished, his voice coming to her so seriously that Kiara once again considers his words, I f only for a brief moment.

Harry reflects an image in the oubliette, startling Max for a moment.

Kiara stands, and begins to pace along the barren plain then a look of the most wickedness crosses her features.

"There is some one in there with you Max Johnson."  She says then shuts her mind from him completely, turns back to the caves and returns to her Lord and Masters side.

"What wonderful timing you have Harry. "  Max growls at him.  "Do you realize you just lost me my link to Kiara?"

"My Lord?  Tell me, who is it that you hold down in the Oubliette?"  Kiara asks the Devil once again.

"Once again my Love, it is none of your concern."  He replied.

Kiara goes silent and reaches out to touch Max's mind once again, although this time, she has no thoughts at all, just silence that Max can feel.

"Sorry" Harry replied.  "Send me a thought when you can."  Then he disappeared.

Kiara stands again and walks away, the Devils eyes constantly watching. She walks around the deserted plain, looking for something, but does not know what. Her eyes search for something that isn't there. There is only just a shadow, that is all that she can see, but what is a shadow, but a darkened image of something she once had. Someone, she once held. She can't remember, not for that life of her who it was or even for that matter, what it felt like.

Kiara turned and looked now, into the eyes of the Devil. His human eyes, he kisses her, but there was no emption in that kiss, it was but a gesture of a union they were to have a gesture of something to come. A union, Kiara, even though she has become something no one wants to know, save for the Devil himself, isn't sure she wants.

Max sighs to himself.  He feels her, she's letting him feel her, but she still sends no though, no emotion or even the slightest hint as to if she acknowledges him.

"Kiara?"  He sends out, his voice aching for an answer.

"What?  What do you want?"  Kiara responds after a very long time.

"Do you remember anything about your life before your Master took you to his side?"  Max asked, hoping he could jog her memory a bit more.

Kiara is silent again, still no emotion felt by Max.  She walks along the desolate plain until she nears the gates of Hades, Cerberus watches her closely, but makes no move to attack his Masters mistress less he be sent into eternal punishment.

"No, I don't remember anything.  I have always, it seems been here.  However, I am told that once one dies, they seldom do remember what went on in their mortal lives."  She responded finally.

"Yes Kiara, they don't however, you didn't die.  You can't doe, it is almost impossible."  Max returned.

"Of course I did.  If I didn't, then how is it that I am here?  The Devil can't..." she trails off, thinking.  "If he marries a living human then..." She trails off again a grin spreading over her lips at what this could mean, the power that lies before.  Max can feel her thoughts of power, thoughts she should not think about less she totally turn before her union with the Devil.  "Are you certain I am not dead Max Johnson?"  She finishes.

"I'm your husband Kiara...What are you thinking about?"  Max replies frustrated.

Kiara begins to walk again, her leathery dragon-like wings stretching behind her in an arch of power.

"You keep saying that. Why?  What is it you are trying to do?  As to what I'm thinking well, I'm thinking of the looks on the faces of all those humans as my Master and I walk the earth together.  I'm thinking of their terror filled eyes and their screams of agony as I kill them all, slowly."  Kiara finishes, an icy laugh sounding out of her mind to send chills down the spine of her husband.

"Why am I even bothering with you.  You aren't Kiara, or at least not the Kiara I loved..." Max growled.

Kiara raises her brow.  She knows she has hit a sore spot in the prisoner and this makes her happy.  Makes her feel as if she has accomplished something.

"I haven't the slightest idea as to why you bother Max Johnson.  Perhaps it is that you want to be freed so much, you might try and make me want to free you, go against my Lords orders and let you out of there.  You do however, intrigue me and if this other Kiara you speak of is someone you once cared for, I want to know about her.  Tell me of her Max."  Kiara said to him, her thoughts going to him with a very curious manner.  Max can feel the need to know with in those thoughts.

"You seem to have a bit of the old Kiara in you still.  At least her curiosity."  Max replied, hoping that this might bring her to him.

Kiara of course, not able to handle this any longer, does exactly as Max had hoped, her curiosity for this prisoner overwhelming her to no end; she teleports to the Oubliette.

Harry, unable to keep his own curiosity under check, ports his image into the Oubliette as well, appearing at the side of Max, just as Kiara does.  However, as soon as Kiara sees him, she growls and cuts his link off immediately sending Harry hurling back to himself with a hard thud.

Harry skids across the floor, Ginny and Moloch staring at him.

"My guess is that Kiara didn't want you around old boy."  Moloch said, reaching his hand down to help Harry stand.

"Ya, well, at least I know she's in the same room as Max now, you were correct in your statement about Max being the only one she'd listen to, I didn't even get a chance to open my mouth before she tossed me out of there like a rag doll."  Harry replied, taking the hand up, his temper a bit annoyed.

Ginny laughed slightly.

"Harry, you can't always think you have the whole brother sister twin thing in check you know.  Kiara isn't Kiara at this moment; she doesn't even remember her own husband, what made you think she'd remember her brother.  Besides, like Moloch said, Max is the only one who has a chance."  She smiled warmly at him.

"Well, I wasn't there to talk to her at any rate, I wanted to get Max out."  Harry replied again, is temper still disheveled.  "However, I don't think that was the best thing for me to do just now, Kiara is talking with him face to face, Max will win her over in a matter of time."  Harry finished.

"Awe, just as I thought, you had to come see me, didn't you?"  Max said, a note of triumph in his voice.

"I just came to see you, besides, all this sending messages back and forth this way is certain to alert my Lord, sooner or later."  Kiara replied, looking, studying Max.  "Now, tell me of this Kiara you speak so fondly of."  She finished, leaning against the wall, her eyes running over his binds.

"She was sweet, she loved the world, and there really aren't many words to describe a woman like her.  She's beyond description."  Max started.

"And you think me to be that person?  I think I am honored."  She starts, looking still at his binds then, they fall from his wrists, freeing him from their confinement.

Max rubs his wrists then looks at her again, she seems to narrow her eyes, looking at him, studying him with curiosity.

"You do look familiar, perhaps there might be some truth to your words, perhaps I was once yours, tell me more Max Johnson" She says, stepping closer to him.

"Has your Master kissed you Kiara?"

"Not that it would be any of your business but, yes, he has, why do you ask?"

"Sounds a bit rude to ask but, did you feel anything in that kiss?"  He persists.

Kiara grows silent, she turns form him, her dragon-like wings flexing nervously then remain poised in an aggressive manner.  She turns back towards him, confusion written in her every move.

"No, nothing at all, only...only power of what is to be...nothing more."  She answers, turning to look at him, apprehension written in her every move.

"Kiss me."  Max says, taking a bold step towards her.

"Why would I..." she starts, and then stops.

His eyes hold her locked to him, then, before she can stop it, she's kissing him.  Memories of the past sweep through her mind, each one more painful than the next then, she pulls away, frightened.

She steps back with one foot, fear the likes of which she's never shown before written across her face.  Another two steps back, confusion mixed with the fear and finally, curiosity, all three missed together she shakes her head.

"I don't understand..." Kiara starts.

"What did you feel?'  Max asked, taking a step towards her now.

"Warmth, I felt warm and Love?  You love me?"  She asked, taking likewise, a step closer to him, still not quite understanding this new feeling.

"No, I don't love you."  He says sarcastically.  "I married you for your cursed name, of course I love you Kiara."  He replied, his agitation at her unfeeling mind becoming quite apparent.  He had thought, like the times before that this would be easy for him, he was wrong.

Then Kiara opens her mouth to speak but closes it and turns to her right, reaching out, she touches Max, turns to him and smiles.  Then, before he could do anything about it, he is teleported away from there.  Kiara turns then and backs into a corner as the Devil advances on her.

The Devil's human form slides away in his anger, his demonic form not towering over Kiara who stands her ground, regally as she always has.

"You let him free, why?"  The Devil growls, his anger felt in every fiber of Kiara's body, making her wince.

"He...he was a bother, wouldn't leave me alone so I sent him away My Lord."  Kiara responded, making herself stand, not letting her body crumble to the ground in the pain she felt.

The Devil pins her against the wall now, hanging from his hand around her throat.

"You dare defy my word.  You will be punished for this action, my love.  It is only a day and a half till we wed and I will not loose you again."  He growls.

Max appears next to Harry and Ginny, the only place Kiara knows of out side the Hell she is in, he winces as he hears Kiara's screams following him.  He knows she's been punished.

Max narrows his eyes at the wall where Harry and Gin watch in horror at the punishment Kiara had received.  They turn to look at him.

"Why did you send me away Kiara?"  Max says in almost a whisper then, his anger growing, his form changes to that of his demonic self and he vanishes again.

"Great, he's after her again."  Harry says a bit discouraged.

"Ya, and we've been shut out."  Ginny replies, motioning to the wall that now lays blank once again.

"Looks as though we're to wait and find out what happens later.  I'll be over here, sharpening my blade in case I need it later."  Moloch responds then turns his back and walks to the far side of the room, taking out his long, massive black sword.

Max shows up just inside the Gates of Hades, the large three headed dog Cerberus growls at his approach but makes no move to hinder his advance.

Max also notices the Devil, in his human form once again waiting for him just a few feet from the entrance to the lower levels.  The look upon the Devils face is one of great curiosity and something else, unexplained but Max has the feeling he's going to find out, soon.

Max comes to a stop, just before the Devil, he keeps his eyes glued to his every move.

"You did come back for her then.  I had hoped you would Max Johnson."  The Devil speaks, his words seemingly well chosen.

"Hello."  Max greets formally, his fangs showing slightly as he smile at the Devils' obvious curiosity.

"Max Johnson, my one and only true rival in all this.  I have a deal for you.  Really, it's is your choice and your willingness to risk all for the one you love that will decide the fate of the world you so love."  The Devil begins, watching Max and the reaction to his statement as Max realizes that this has come to take a turn no one had expected.

"True rival?  Is that what he just referred to me as?"  Max thought to himself.  "Interesting."

"Well, young demon, here is the task.  You must find her, she is deep within the depths of my home, she waits to be rescued, although, if you do not save her in time, she becomes mine, totally turned and you and the rest of the pathetic world will forever be cloaked in our rule as Husband and wife.  I will be sure you stay alive to whiteness everything that comes to pass after that.  If you do indeed rescue your loved one from my grasp, then you will go free, as will she, only difference you will feel is the fact that I, will gain your powers as you have them. " The devil pauses and smiles.  "I've already gained what powers Kiara holds, adding the ones from you, will be, shall we say, beautiful, at the very least."  He finishes, a slight smirk of satisfaction written over him.

"You seem quite power hungry for a fallen angel, perhaps all the time in this heated environment has made your head go daft."  Max replies with a slight smile.  He has already made his choice and knows he has none other however; he stalls, for the trophy of satisfaction more than for any other reason.  "I will think on it for a bit."  Max finishes then looks down the tunnel to the lower levels.

"Don't think on it too long Max, for every second she is down there, you loose precious time."  He points to a fire, burning in the wall ahead of them, its flames seemingly dying out slowly.  "When that flame no longer exists, neither will the Kiara you once loved." He finishes.

Max nods his head.  "Ok, lets get this started then."

The Devil steps aside, motioning for Max to enter.

"Oh, and do be careful down there, I wouldn't want anything terrible to happen to you, now would I?"  He chuckles as Max disappears beneath the low entrance of the cavern.

Chapter 8: The labyrinth

Harry paced, Ginny sat and Moloch sharpened, all of tem waiting for news.  The rift Ginny had created to watch the happenings had disappeared the Devil not wanting them to interfere this time.  Their interference last time might have helped him to keep Kiara away from Max, but this time, their interference would have proven disastrous to his plans, to the Deal he had made.

Max walked carefully into the caves; the fire from the crack licking at his heals as he went.  He looked left then right, closed his eyes trying to catch a feel of Kiara's mind but was rewarded with only a laugh from the Devil.

"You can not find her that easily Max, you must play the game."  The devil laughed in his mind.

Max growled then turned left, the ground beneath his feet becoming steeper with every step, taking him down further and further into the depths of Hell.

A low growl could be heard from in front of him, around the next corner.  He screwed up his nose at the smell and rounded the corner, ready for anything.

Two massive Fire elements jumped at him, one catching his robe and igniting it as he rolled out of the way,

Max quickly out the flame out then jumped back to his feet, freezing the first element and dodging the attack from the other.  Max fought the element for several minutes then finally got the last blow in, freezing it, then, in anger, he shattered it and smiled as he watched it crumble to a thousand or more pieces at his feet.

The moment the last Fire Demon had been disposed of, the wall that was just a moment before a dead end, opened up and Max walked in further.

It wasn't long before once again, he came to yet another dead end, turned to go the other way and a massive red Dragon appeared before him, its breath hot, emiting a dangerouse growl.

"Great!"  He said to himself.

The Dragon billowed flames from its fang filled jaw, coating Max in its fire.  Luck for Max, he had already put up his fire defenses otherwise he'd been toasted.

"God, why does it always have to be dragons?"  He cursed.

However, at the word God, The dragon backed off, hissing at him like it were now on the defense.

"Oh, don't like that word do you?"  Max smiled.  "God, God, God."  He said again and again, each time the Dragon backed off, then after it had decided it had had enough, it turned and stalked away angrily like a little child that had just lost a battle with its parents.

Max shook his head then noticed, as with the other times he had fought the creatures, this dead end also opened up to admit him.

He walked into a vast cavern, the interior much different from the rest.  It contained a field of green grass, a small forest, a lake and on the other side of the lake, Lay Kiara, on a dais, surrounded by icy flames.

There was a rustle in the long grass not ten feet from him, a rustle then a high-pitched laugh.

"Vampires, wonderful."  Max said to him self then proceeded with caution.

He needed only take a few steps then he was knocked to the ground by a winged vampire, she tried futilely to bite him.

"Sorry, I'm already taken."  Max says between clenched teeth, straining to get her off.

After a short struggle, Max impales her through a large stick he had conjured, the vampire lets out a deafening screech, making Max hold his ears, then she dies, turning to dust that falls about the stake now lying on the ground.

He stands, brushing himself off and looks over the lake, something huge moves about in there and he needs to go through there to reach Kiara.  He looks to his right; the fire burning is almost out.  He has very little time left so; he dives, hoping above all else to be able to pass the creature with out conflict.

His wish however, did not come to pass.  Not to minutes into his swim across the lake, he was confronted with the huge snake-like creature, its slatted eyes blink at him but it makes no attempt to attack.

Max swims to the surface catching a breath of air, time is running out but the creature does not let him pass, it does not attack, yet it does not let him pass either, it continues to dog his every move.

"What do you want?"  Max finally says to it, frustrated.

The creature looks blankly at him then looks over its shoulder at a small nest, Max had not seen before.  The nest is guarded by something, covered and inaccessible to all.

"I see."  Max says then dives further down and takes a look at the nest.

Wasting no time, Max screws up his power once again, and lays a hand on the stining outer core of the stuff surrounding the nest and after what seems an eternity, the guarding matter falls from the nest to reveal several eggs, the creature swims over and tends to the nest, giving Max a thankful look.  Max nods and swims off to the other side of the lake and crawls out onto the shore.

The last flames of the fire begin to flicker just as Max grabs Kiara from the dais and away from the blue, icy flames.

Then, just as Max holds Kiara to him, they are teleported to the vast plane, the Devil stands, waiting.

"Well, I've got her, now let her go."  Max says, a bit tiredly.

"I already have, she'll wake in time.  You took your time Max, but a deal is a deal, she is yours, for all time.  I will not again, so far as I know, try to take her again."

"Yes, but at what cost exactly?  I did not truly understand your deal." Max replied.

"Yet you made it?  Interesting...  Well, the cost is making the Devil stronger than ever before Max Johnson.  Not really much more than that.  If only you could feel the power of the power you two hold, combined..." He trails off, seemingly relishing in his newfound powers.  You might want to ask your bride one of these days, the secret she has held form you though."  He pauses again.  "One more thing, you will find that you can not die either, for you share your powers with an immortal now, and by doing so, you become as I, one with the devil.  Don't look so disgusted Max, I'm not really all that bad, and at least I keep my word."  The devil pauses again.  "Kiara's powers, they are very sweet."  He finishes.

"Well, that's a positive I am sure."  Max starts, his total expression sarcastic.  "Well, I'm going, and may God be with you always."  He finishes and jumps into the air, his dragon-like wings turning white and disappears; the sound of the Devils laughter following close behind him.

CHAPTER 9:  Consequences

Max sat by Kiara's side for several hours before she finally woke.

"Hey."  Kiara said, her eyes opening, barely able to make him out but knowing it was he all the same.

"Hey, you're awake."  Max said softly, leaning in and kissing her cheek.

"We are home then?"  She asks.

"Ya, how do you feel?"  He asks.

"Tired, really tired, other than that, I'm ok."  She answers, barely able to keep her eyes open.

"Well, then perhaps you should get some more rest."  Max responds, a thousand questions beginning to form in his mind, the first of which is as to why, Kiara is so tired, she doesn't tire so easily, never has, yet now, she seems almost needing to rest.

"Ya, I think I will."  She replies sleepily, turning over, closing her eyes and falling almost instantly back to sleep.

"What did you do?"  Max says quietly, thinking perhaps the deal he made may have been more than he thought.

Suddenly, Max stands and begins to pace the floor, thinking of the words the Devil used.  Things such as "You are now immortal, Kiara's power is sweet...you are one with me..."
The Devil never said anything about what would happen to Kiara and Max had never asked he only assumed.

Max hadn't slept at all these last two days, he hadn't felt tired at all, the total opposite of his norm.  He looks at Kiara and smiles when she awakes.

"Sorry I slept so long, I was really tired.  I wouldn't have thought that should have taken so much out of me.  I guess though, that dealing with The Devil is a bit more taxing than my father ever was."  She shrugs, looking at Max with a tired smile.

"Hum, ya...do you even want to know what happened down there Kiara?"  Max asked, almost ignoring her comment.

Kiara tilts her head to the side, her smile slipping from her lips and looks at him, knowing something was bothering him, something big.

"Hum, ya, I guess I do want to know..." She says, her eyes searching his face franticly, trying to find what it is that bothers him so badly but she can't figure it out.

"The devil wouldn't let you go unless I shared my Demon form with him.  I had to make a deal..." he started then trailed off at her look.

"You did what?  Max..." She started then stopped, her manner more nervous looking than ever.

"I had to, I had no choice.  I love you; he wouldn't let you go if I didn't, I couldn't have beaten him any other way. I..."

"So that's why I keep having visions of Hell in my waking and sleeping mind..." She says, swallowing hard.  Then she looks at him.  "Look, no matter what happens from this point forwards, just remember that I love you..."

Max looks down at the floor at this point and Kiara walks over to him, brining his chin up.

"What is it?  You have something else you're wanting to tell me."  She says softly, lovingly.

"There is one more thing Kiara...He may have taken your immortality."  Max says, his voice almost a whisper.

Kiara is still, her mind thinking, racing, Max can see the turmoil in her whole being.

"Well, that's interesting..." she starts then pauses.  "He can keep it for all I care."  She finally answers.

"That's what I thought your reaction would more than likely be." Max said, nodding him head.  "There is however, one more thing Kiara."   He finishes, looking at her still.

"Get it over with Max, tell me everything now, I'm beginning to get a head ache trying to figure this all out."  Kiara replied, her reserved look becoming angry.

"He might have made me immortal, all that time you had been sleeping, I didn't nee to rest, two days Kiara and I haven't slept, I still don't feel the need to do so."  He finishes, and then watches her closely.

Kiara stands and begins to pace, her whole stature angry and sad at the same time.

"Great!  I', so sorry Max, sorry you had to get caught up in all this, everything that went along with me.  You didn't ask for this immortality, you did,...nuts! "  She ends with a curse, still acing the floor.

"It's ok Kiara, really..." Max says, trying to calm her a bit.

Kiara stops pacing then turns to him.

"Did he tell you anything else?"

Max nods.

"Ya, one other thing, he asked me to inquire about.  There is something you've never told me about, isn't' there?"  He says quietly.

Kiara nods.  Then kneels on the floor next to him, looking up at him, her emerald eyes sad.

"Yes, there is much more to this than meets the eye.  You see, when I said he could have my immortally, I was wrong, I need it, the earth needs it.  I perish and he is free to walk the earth, so in a way, he's won, totally and completely, even with out me at his side, he has found another way.  That's why he's made the deal with you, that's why he took my immortality and had given it to you.  When I die, the earth dies with me.  I am the keeper of the earth, the earth Demon, the only thing that helps it grow.  All the way down to the tiniest plant, everything depends on my survival, the moment I am out of the picture, the Devil is free to walk the planet.  I would love to die one day, however, I know I cannot.  It was part of the deal I made with the gods when I decided to come back.  I can't die, I have to find a way to reverse what ever it is, he has done."  She finishes, although no tears come to her eyes, Max can tell she want s to cry.

"But what can we do about it Kiara?"

"We'll come up with something, we always do."  She replies, a tone of finality in her otherwise fearful voice.

"So, do you feel any different?"

"Ya, I feel..." She pauses as if to try and think of the perfect word.  "Incomplete."  She finishes.

Max lowers his head again.

"I'm sorry..."

"No, don't say you're sorry Max, the Devil is a tricky one, you had no other choice.  At the very least, this way gives us both time and incites as to what is to come."  She says, with a slight growl.

"What happened down there?"  Max asks, now wondering himself, what went on between his wife and the Devil.

Kiara stands again and looks out the window, she is silent for a long time before she finally turns to him, her eyes alight with more passion and helplessness than he has ever seen in them before.

"I don't really remember things as well as feelings, the worst things I've felt ever, the painful loss of everything dear to me, a hopelessness, and great loss that I have never before felt. I felt power, the highest amount of power ever felt before. It's kind of ironic, the thing that most people strive for all there lives I had and I didn't want.  Along with all that power came a feeling or rather the total lack of feeling.  Only two words can come close to what I felt and they were coldness and loss, great loss."  She goes quiet again then turns from the window and regards him.  "You, you brought it all back to me even if just for a moment before it was stripped away by him again, you brought it to me and there is only one word I can come up for that feeling...love."  She finishes, holding him in her eyes full of more love than he could have ever imagined.

Max stands immediately and goes to her, kissing her.  Kiara returns his kiss, a tear streaming down her cheek.

"I love you."  Max said.

"I love you Max."  Kiara responds, pulling away from him and once again looking out the window.

Max looks out the window now as well, deep in his own thoughts.

"Do you think we'll be ok?"  Kiara asks, wrapping her arms about her shoulders as if chilled.

"We'll live, for now."  Max replies

"Ya..." Kiara says quietly, still looking out at eh grass and trees in their yard, her thoughts heavily on what would happen to them if she died.

Max, feeling her pain, pisses her softly again, Kiara returns then pats him lightly on the cheek.

"Are you hungry?"  She asks, as if nothing was wrong.

"No, not really."  Max sighs, looking up at her as she walks towards the kitchen.

Kiara walks silently through the double door of their kitchen then comes out with a pint of ice-cream, opens the lid, sits on the couch, her legs crossed then plays with it for a bit before beginning to eat.

"No sighs Max, we'll figure this out, together there is nothing we can't do, remember?  You once told me that very some thing, long ago, when we were still in school, do you remember?"  She says between bites of ice cream.

"Well, what ARE we going to do then Kiara?"  He persists.

"Well, after I'm done with this ice cream, I'm taking a shower, after that, I'm putting something comfortable on and hitting the books, there must be some sort of hint on them."  She states quite formally.

Max lies back on the couch, Next to Kiara.

"Kiara.... books don't have all the answers.... sometimes, you have to figure out what you're going to do on your own, I mean, how could the books have know I was going to do this? According to the books you should've been evil years ago..." He states, just as formally as she had.

"Every prophecy has a counter one Max, you know that as well as I, certain things have to be done in order for them to come about, IF, something is done differently than needed, things go on, but in a deferent path.

What has happened, happened for a reason, I know it, I just want to find out why. What went wrong? Or, perhaps nothing did go wring because, in a way, I have still helped the Devil find his way to walk the earth once again, although it may not be happening as soon as we thought, it will happen, the moment I take my last breath, he will rise."  She sighs now. "However, if you believe that we should figure something else on our own, then perhaps you are right there too, maybe seeking answers in the old journals and such is what brings us spiraling to the same ending time and time again."  She finished, taking another bite of her ice cream.

"I don't know..." Max replies now, biting his lip in an indecisive manner.

"Well, if it was up to me, I'd march right back down there and take back what was mine, However, I think that, THAT too, might be what is expected of me, I mean, I can die now, and perhaps that would be the way it happens..." She sighs again. "Then, there is always the Orb of..." she stops, not knowing he already knows of its existence.

:"Orb of what?"  Max responds, not sure if she means to take the Orb of Aldur to try and gain what is hers again.

"Never mind, it's a very bad idea."  Kiara replies, now putting the lid back on the ice cream.

"No, seriously, the Orb of what Kiara?"  Max states, sitting up a little now.

He hops she isn't having thoughts of bringing into play the Aldur card, it could possibly destroy everything they are working for.  Although, he still knows there is still a chance she could decide to use it and everything would work out just fine, so long as the Devil doesn't bring her stone into play along with it.

"Aldur, but never mind that Max, it's too dangerous, not knowing where the other half of the stone resides."  She finishes.

Max goes quite now.  She still doesn't know that it is her Soulstone that counters the Orb of Aldur and he isn't sure if he should tell her yet.

"I think you're right, we should consider that option closed."  Max states, hoping it will indeed be the last he'd have to hear of the orb.

"Right then, any thoughts?"  Kiara says, looking at him.

"Not a clue, yet."  He replies.

"Well, I'm going to take that shower."  She says then stands and growls frustrated and makes the ice cream disappear.

That, was not something Kiara did, Max knew she was frustrated.  Any time it came to things magic in her household, she didn't use it.  She always did things the Muggle way.  He sighs again.

"I'll be back out in a few..." she said, turning from him and heading towards the bathroom.

"Kiara, I'm sorry."  Max said then, he frustration hitting him to the very core, leaving him feel as though this was his entire fault.

"Don't apologize for something you have no control over Max.  It's most definitely not your fault."  Kiara says, turning to regard him again.

Max sighs as Kiara give him a half smile then turns back around and disappears through the door.

(Well, that's the end of this episode.  The next is in the making even as I write this.  Lol.  I hope you all enjoyed it.  The next will be a bit longer I am afraid.  It has to deal with this whole Earth Demon thing so... Well, that's enough said.  Once again thanks to all my readers.
