hmmmmmm?
is lupin pronounced like
"lu" as is "rupert" (same 'u' sound)
or
"lup" as in "up" (sounds)
sirius - sir-ee-us
hermione - her-my-o-nee (blend in so it sort of sounds like her-my-nee)
cedric - sedr-ik
fleur - fl - er
karkaroff - car-car-off (duh kinds too easy!!)
it's lu-pin, like rupert,
sirius, like the store sears, so, sear-us
hermione- her- my- o- knee
fleur- floor
and that's all i know. but i know that sirius is right.
This is how I pronounced the names
Lupin: loo-pin
Sirius: serious (but the star is sigh-russ)
Fluer: Flu-air
Hermione: Hero-mine (I read it wrong, okay?? lol)
Filch: Always thought it was 'Flitch'. lol
Dementor: Dement-ore
Dumbledore: Dum-bleh-door
Draco: Dr-ah-co
Hagrid: Hag-rid
Karkaroff: Cack-ar-off
I think that's it... if I think of more, I'll post it.. :)
Yeah, I pronounce:
Lupin - Loop-in
Sirius - Serious
Hermione - Her-my-own-ie
(LOL! I used to pronounce Filch, Flitch, too!!! Tell my mom said it was 'Filch'...)
Draco - Drah-co (what's up with this Drayco stuff?! ^^; )
Dumbledor- Dumble-door
Karkaroff - Car-car-off
Pettigrew - Pet-a-grew
And I used to pronounce Slytherin - Sly-ther-in....
for the 1st time, before the movie, this is how I pronounced 'em:
Lupin- Loo-pin
Sirius- Sigh-ree-us
Hermione- Her-mwoine
Draco- Dray-co
Dumbledore- Dum-ble-more (I read it wrong)
Karkaroff- Ka-ka-roff
Pettigrew- Pet-eh-gru
Hagrid- Haj-rid
Filtch- Filtch (lol)
Fleur- Floor
Cedric- See-dric
Dementor- dement-ore
Heeheehee!!! Floor! :D When I pronounce her name...it comes out like: Fllllluuuueeeeaaaaahhhh.....
lol! Fllllluuuueeeeaaaaahhhh..... heehee I actually said her name 'Fleh-oore'... ^_^ It sounds like Floor if you say it out loud and fast.
I keep the pronounciations the same 'coz I like my ways better than the movies. :)
Cedric- Said-jrick
*nod nod* ..That still bugs me...Drayco....grrrrr! :| It's Draco!!!!!
Though you are right on the proper pronounceation of Cedric, I still pronounce it seed-rick. ^^;
Lupin-Loo-pin
Hermione-Her-my-oh-nee
Sirius - useds to pronounce it "sir-us seroius
dumbledore-dumb-le-door
Hagrid- Hag-rid
Draco-Dra-coo
Seamus-shay-mus
Drah-coo? :D
Draco sounds like what a Vampire's name would be...*shrugs* :s That's what it reminded me of when I first read his name. ;D Pretty silly/weird, huh? ^.^;;
lol I was kidding Dra-coo

Dracoo! Coo coo coo! lol
Seamus- See-muss
Draco does sound like a name for a Vampire! :o never thought of that..

lol, that's what I used to think!
I'll just stick to calling him Sea-mus, thanks. :)
I thought they called him See-muss... oh well. I'll stick to my way, too ^_^
I'm still bedazzled on how Sean is supposed to be pronounced 'Shawn' *shrug*
I know. o.O; That's weird....how do they get Shawn out of Sean? Looks like it sounds more like 'seen'.
That's what I've always thought...
it's an irish thing....
Quote from: emily824 on August 5, 2002, 12:38:10 AMit's an irish thing....
yeah it is, you can tell Seamus is irish....
ya i know! lol and Sean.....hey please post more of ur story! ;D
It's spelt "Sean" if you're Irish but "Shawn" if you're... not lol. Shay-mus?? That's really odd. I always called him See-mus.
i did for the first book...then my irish instints came in, and i was reading and it was clear to me that it was....'Shay mus'
Wait... then wouldn't Seamus be 'Shaw-mus' because Sean has the same 'Sea' part, but isn't pronounced 'Shay-ne'. ???
no..it's different, it depens on what consinents is after the vowl....
I have a great uncle Seamus, And it's pronounced:
"Shay-Mus"

o_O this pronounciation thing is getting confusing...
I always said see-mus.
oh, and sum1 said they said "ka-ka-rof"
not to make fun of them or nething but it's like:
a childish way of saying sh!+ (ca-ca) with "rof" on the end.
hehe...
lol Star, I say see-mus as well.
yeah, i used to say see-mus but after i saw the movie, i'm kinda stuck on says shay-mus.
