The Horcrux Hunt
Harry woke up. The past month had been some kind of never ending dream gone wrong for him. He constantly expected to wake up from and find that everything was ok. He couldn't remember what he was dreaming about, but he didn't really care. He clutched the fake Horcrux that lay next to his bed. This had become somewhat of a daily ritual for him, almost the only thing that seemed regular in his life these days. Three different places had been home for him in the past four weeks. He went back to Privet Drive after a year at Hogwarts cut short by tragedy. Despite Hermione's reassurances, he questioned himself as to whether or not the annual routine was fruitless now that Dumbledore was dead. He then spent time at the newly reinstated headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, but the home of his Godfather brought too many memories of losses that Harry had suffered in the past few years. He soon left for the Burrow and spent time with the Weasley's, who attempted to become somewhat of a second (Third, now that he thought of it...) family for him. However, the summer visits to Ron's house that Harry used to look forward to so much only seemed to bring him down even more. There was too much on his mind, even with Ron and Ginny, and even Fred and George's attempts to cheer him up.
The gleaming, yet empty luster of the lockett reminded Harry of an unavoidable future that awaited him. Without Dumbledore's wisdom and guidance, Harry had no idea how he was supposed to discover anything about the four remaining Horcruxes, even with the promising help of his closest friends. Even worst was the fact that everyday, Harry seemed to regret his decision to break up with Ginny even more.
It's for the best of everyone's interests, Harry said to himself, but even as he told this to himself, memories of a relationship that he constantly told himself could have lasted shrouded his mind. He dragged himself out of bed and got dressed. He stared at the door and wondered to himself, "Do I really want to go there?" These days, even the burrow seemed like an insecure place. A home where he had always considered a place of safety where he could always go without worries. Then again, he also thought of Hogwarts as one of those places too. Now he found himself unwilling to enter the real world, longing to stay in this room and not hear from anyone ever again, and to never think the thoughts that had been occupying his mind the past two years.
"You can't stay in there forever, you know," came a voice from just outside the door.
"Yeah, but I wish I could. You can come in, I'm dressed." Harry seemed to have fallen asleep without getting out of his clothes at all. The door openned and Hermione walked in. She sat down by the foot of the bed and stared at Harry with concern. Everyone had been worried about him since he had arrived at Number 12, Grimauld Place. True, he had been through much more than any 16 year old should ever have to go through, but he had shown no signs of cheering up at all. He seemed exactly the same as the very night the Death Eaters had attacked Hogwarts.
"I don't think Dumbledore would have wanted-"
"I'm sick of that phrase. Do you think he would have wanted to have been killed by the one person that he alone had trust and faith in?"
"Listen Harry, all I'm trying to say is-"
"I know what you're trying to say, and I wish I could forget and be normal, but I can't get it out of my head. Everytime I see Bill's face, everytime I see the front page of the Prophet, everytime I see Ginny, It just makes me remember even more. R.A.B., those initials still haunt me in my sleep. I know he's on the same side but I can't put it aisde that I want to rip his guts out."
"Well first of all, it could be a she, and secondly, moping around in your room won't do any good either, you're missing breakfast right now, and I'm getting hungry, so I guess I'll leave you to yourself." Hermione walked out of the room and down the stairs. Harry sat still for a while and finally got up, and got ready for another day.
K guys, I've made up my mind that I will finish this story by the end of the summer. Any feedback would be great!
Brian
k...i dunno either no one (and i know that's not true) finished the book yet, or this already sucks...im just gonna stop now
i've decided to keep writing because i like to do it...
Harry went down the stairs and took his seat at the table. "Good morning, everyone." There were replies amongst the others at the table. He looked around to watch how everyone else was doing. Ron had been a little too harsh on his twin brothers recently, saying that the incident that took place at hogwarts was all their fault, with their stupid powder. He found it hard to even look at them. Bill was healing nicely, although every now and then, some wolvish side of him seemed to surface in short bursts of temper. Fleur sat next to her fiance and ate her breakfast silently. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley tried to look happy but everyone had combination of fear and sadness around them. Then Harry looked at Ginny. Although Harry seeemed to feel akward around her ever since the Funeral, she seemed to carry on normally and didn't seem to notice anything at all when they were together. Charlie was off somewhere in the world again on dragon business. And Percy, well Harry didn't really care about him, he was a prat.
After breakfast, the weasley's began to get up and go off on their morning routines. Ron looked over to Harry and said, "Quidditch?"
Harry thought it was a good idea, and it helped keep his mind off of things, and today he felt like maybe he was in a better mood. "Sure, we'll do a 2 versus 2 with Fre-" Harry stopped short, and Ron winced.
"I don't relaly want to play with them right now."
"Ok, fine we'll get...Ginny and Hermione then..."
"Hermione??"
"Well, yeah...who else?"
"Fine, but you get Hermione, I get Ginny."
Ron seemed to be oblivious to the fact that Hermione was sitting next to him, getting redder every word he said.
"WELL MAYBE I DON'T WANT TO PLAY!" She said and stormed off up the stairs.
Harry and Ron looked at eachother puzzled. Ever since Ginny had cut her off last year saying that she'd just make herself look like an idiot talking about quidditch, Hermione had become a little touchy on the subject.
"She was kind of over reacting, right?"
"Yeah, don't worry about it. Let's just go flying somewhere then."
Ginny walked over to them and said, "Hey, it's getting really boring around here, can I come along?"
Before Harry had time to act odd, Ron said "Sure, get your broom."
"Accio Firebolt!!" Harry's heard a sudden crash, and then he heard a shout "OW, IT JUMPED ME, IT JUMPED ME!!" That was either Fred or George, Harry couldn't tell, but both him and Ron were grinning, and soon laughing. Harry's firebolt soon came whizzing toward harry, landing in his hand. Fred came running down with his hand covering his nose.
"Oy! Your broom just bloodied up my nose! I thought I'd been hit by a bloody bludger"
"You des-" Ron seemed like he was about to turn a funny moment into another argument, so Harry cut him off.
"Go see your mom, I'm sure she'll use her wand to heal that."
"That's not funny either, she has no right to confiscate our wands, why can't you two heeal me?"
"Well, Harry's still underage, and I'm too tired...besides, I have to go get my broom, we're going somewhere." Ron gave a look that said, no you're not invited.
Ginny and Ron showed up with their brooms and they set off. Harry had no real idea what he was doing, but his dreams had given some ideas, and they set off towards the home of his late godfather.
Lolz, Bri! I like it. Good job you did really well. ;D I just finished the book and thought I'd read you story. I think you did a great job.
Thanks, can't write much today though
When they got to Number Twelve Grimauld Place, the place looked deserted. Although that was the way it had been when the Order occupied it, something told Harry that the Order had never returned even after it was established that the place belonged to Harry.
"They never got around to coming back, and probably won't now that Dumbledore died." Ron said.
"Yeah, there was a discussion about it, but if Snape is really with Voldem0rt, then he can tell him where we were without any problems."
This troubled Harry, but he didn't know why. They opened the door without difficulty; it was unlocked. Ron was about to speak but Harry gestured for him to keep quet, and the Ron remembered Sirius's mom. As they approached the stairs, they heard weeping. Sirius's mom was crying?? Harry figured that since everyone had left, she'd be happy to spend the rest of her miserable existence alone in her glorious house. But, it was definately her crying.
Lolz, it's okay, just as long as you keep writing, I'll keep reading it. It's really good Bri, please keep going!
That is so awesome!!! Kepp writing!!!
AWESOME!!!
I decided this should go somewhat unorthodox and into an hpff type of story
HE TOOK THEM!
All three of them grimaced at the sound of the shrieking voice that belonged to Sirius's mother. They went up the stairs and approached the painting cautiously, but it did them no good when she saw them.
"STAY BACK, I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! BLOOD TRAITORS!!"
"What did they take?" Harry asked, trying not to show how much he hated her for hating her son.
"NOTHING THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW, NOW LEAVE MY HOME!!"
"Well actually, it's his home, isn't it?" Ron asked, but Ginny gave him a look that told him to keep his mouth shut.
At that remark, Sirius's mother screamed and the curtains on either side of her closed and there was silence. Harry was troubled, but then he had an idea.
"C'mon, let's go for now, I think I know how to get her to talk."
They went downstairs and left back for the burrow. When they got back, Hermione was in a better mood but she seemed a little upset that they went somewhere without her. They told her where they'd been and she seemed slightly shocked. She looked at Harry inquiringly and then Harry made a decision.
"Dumbledore told me not to tell anyone else about the events that took place before his death and everything, but he always let me tell you guys, except for you, Ginny, but I think he would be okay with you guys knowing. Remember when I spent all that time researching Horcruxes and everything? Well, I found out."
"So what are they, then?" Asked Hermione and Ron.
"It's a very dark magic in which part of your soul is perserved in an object so that you are immortal. You have to kill someone for it to work though, and if the horcrux is destroyed, you are mortal once again."
Three pairs of eyes instantly turned their eyes on Ginny Weasley.
"How, did you know that???" Asked Harry, shocked at what she had just said.
"Seeing as you're finally opening up to us about all this, I think you guys should know now, even though Dumbledore also told me not to tell anyone, but I am a psychic."
Ron's mouth dropped and it seemed like he was getting ready to swallow a gnome whole. "You-you can read...??"
"Yeah, I can read minds."
Bri! ;D You took my idea! You brat! I love the way you made her say it though. Lolz. Keep going, I wanna read more! I wanna read more!

this is great, keep up the good work hun
~K~
hey, haven;t been around in a while but back now.
Ron's mouth popped open and he stared at his sister in disbelief. "You can read our...minds?," he said in slight horror, "that's not fair!"
"No, it really isn't actually," Ginny said dully, "There are a lot of things that go on in you and the twin's heads that I wish I didn't have to know about..."
"You read our minds?" Ron didn't seem to notice he was repeating himself.
"Well, I mean someitmes you guys are practically screaming sometimes, but yeah, ever since I was eleven I've pretty much checked up on anything interesting going on in your guys' lives."
g2g now, srry
thats so good...keep going :)
Harry was deep into introspection, but no one else seemed to notice. He quickly looked up and tried to prepare some form of occlumency that he suspected he'd need for the rest of his stay with the Weasley's, but this brought memories of Snape into his head, and he quickly lost the concentracion needed for his magic. He looked up, relieved to see Hermione and Ron didn't notice, but Ginny looked at him puzzlingly.
Yay! bri is writing again! Keep going Bri, cause I wanna read more.
ok guys...highschool is slowly killing me but i tihnk i can still do this....just not much, as evidence by my long absences....
Awwe, I miss you Brian! :-* But you have to keep up your grades, I guess. Write when you can, dude!
Teheh...i've tried to log in like a million times and it randomly worked...
"Mom and dad have known for a while but that was because they needed to know so I could take classes at school...I could help you guys, you know..." She said ending on a hopeful note.
The four of them stared at eachother. They seemed to have all arrived at the same conclusion by themselves, and then they all looked at Harry to explain what had happened over the past few months.
"It's a long story, and I'm still trying to grasp the reality of it. I guess a good place to start is with V0ldemort. He's sort of invincible, because of those Horcruxes. He's made seven, they're scattered about around the world I guess, and Dumbledore...he was trying to find them when he was killed. One of them was the diary that Ginny found.
not in much of a writing mood :P
It's okay, I havn't been in the mood to write for a month or so, so don't feel bad, Bri. It's still good, though!
COOL! Go on, Bri! And seriously, consider the possibility of adding HPFF characters!
That was the first Harry Potter Fan Fiction I ever read, and it was really cool! Great Job! ;)
Yeah... It's really well done, and not everyone can do it (look at my older 2, I screwed them up like mad ;D)
