Im sure he is dead...else his portrait wudnt be with the other past headmasters on the office wall.    See the topic titled  Severus Snape  as my theories are posted in there....and its possible that snape is really evil but there is also a chance he isnt....see post for details.

i think that dumbledore might have a horcrux of his own (and he found a way to make one without killing someone) or it says that Nicholas Flamel is the only KNOWN maker of the Sorceror's Stone...plus, he and dumbledore are buddies so he might have saved it and told everyone he had destroyed it...dumbledore was smart...he would have figured out a way to live for as long as he wants...don't you think?

No way - Snape is on the Phoenix side.

But there must be a reason why he hates Harry so much, or maybe thats just very good acting.

yeah right. I don't know very many people who could act the same part or 6 years. He's evil, not thought and thought but he's with Voldy.

What if Dumbledor knew that he had to die, because Malfoy had the order to kill him and Snape told Dumbledor about the unbreakable vow. Which imlplies, that Snape is on the Phoenix side.
I think it is possible, that Dumbledor did the same magic as Harrys mother - and therefore the next time, Voldemort tries to kill Harry, the spell backfires again - but this time, no more Horcruxes are left and Voldemort is gone forever.

If that was int he next book about dumbleodre actually wanting to die coz of that vow that will totally shock me coz i think that is actually gone to far

Do you really think, that this goes to far - Dumbledor sacrificing himself for Harry?
I don't think this is far fetched - has anyone read the lord of the rings?
Where Aragorn maches with the rest of the survivers from Minas Thirith to the black gate in mordor - just to gain a little time for Frodo.
Sacrificing themselfes - isn't this the way all great heros do?

I think Dubledore knew he was gonna die, I think he knew for a while. But, like uNoPho said, I think he sacraficed himself.

I also think Snape was on the Pheniox said. I said was. He didn't want to kill Dumbledore, but he had to. Now, even though he dosn't want to be, he's on the other side.

I too think Dumbleodre sacrificed himself and knew he had to die... It wouldn't be right if Dumbledore let somebody else die(Malfoy or Snape) it's not like Dumbledore... I think he knew everything...

I don't think Snape has made up his mind on which side he is on, but I think he is being drawn toward the dark side...

(not sure if that made a whole lot of sense)

And now to a far fetched theory:

It could be possible that Snape was on the Phoenix side before the prophecy. He was sent to Voldemort by Dumbledore to tell him the beginning of the prophecy. Maybe Dumbledore was not overheard as he said, but told Snape only the beginning of it.
Why?
"... He will mark him as equal ... " maybe Dumbledore wanted a weapon to defeat Voldemort and created Harry, knowing, that innocent people had to die. So it was planned long ago and Dumbledore knew what he did.

Ok I don't believe it either - thats not the way Rowling make her characters and thats not the way books for children are written. It would mean, that the good are not entirely good and are also using people and letting them die in order to achieve their goals.

wut are you trying to say
Title: Re: dumbledore
Post by: Neo on October 6, 2005, 05:29:53 AM
he's trying to say that maybe the Order was becomming so desperate that they would have been willing to lose members now and risk other's lives if they would be able to defeat Voldemort later, and that the Order isnt as good as its portrayed.

i also think its far-fetched, but considering how Rowling likes plot twists, i wouldnt rule it out. very nice observation uNo.

yeah i guess it is
Title: Re: dumbledore
Post by: KeeperGirl on October 6, 2005, 07:36:57 AM
but doesn't that also mean that dumbledore would of known by telling snape that the he would have to sacrifice lily and james to do it so harry survives.................if so i would be so ticked off about that if i was harry
Title: Re: dumbledore
Post by: uNoPoh on October 6, 2005, 04:29:10 PM
Well I don't suppose its very likely - at least its a possibility.
And yes, that would mean that dumbledore is not that good through and through - and thats even more unlikely.
The idea came to me when I was reading the 6th book a second time and the conversation between Harry and Dumbledore in his office, where Dumbledore repeats again and again - that the prophecy wouldn't mean anything, if Voldemort would not have reacted to the prophecy and marked Harry as equal.
He was so insisting about this point, that I thought - maybe the order made sure, Voldemort heard about the prophecy and tricked him, to create his geatest opponent.

Another clue that Dumbledore could have died willingly in order to protect Harry:
When he and Harry are in the cave where the Horcrux is hidden, Dumbledore says: "Your blood is worth more than mine" or something like that.
I think that supports the theory that he really died in order to save Harry and maybe to bring Snape into Voldemorts inner circle, if something like that exists.
