I'm on the 6th book now - reading in my second term (just restartet 1 1/2 Month ago with book 1) and the more I read Hermiones comments and suggestions, the more she annoys me.
I mean she seems a character for whom it is impossible to have fun - can you imagine a child which absolutely never does anything forbidden - just for the fun of it.
Of course, she crosses the line, when miss KnowItAll claims to have a very good reason. I don't hate her all through - but she behaves more like a teacher, than the teachers themselves.
Maybe the problem is, that all the characters are not too complex after all - and J.K. thought a little KnowItAll would be funny.
I think she's very annoying always right, it bugs me!!!!
Hermione is Ron and Harry's conscience if it wasn't for her they would probably have been kicked out of HOgwarts.
Well first of all - she should be a character for herself.
And anyway - most of the time she yells "Harry, you can't. How dare you. Oh Harry, you can't be serious." and Harry does it nevertheless. And if Harry really needs Hermione not to be thrown out of Hogwarts - he is more stupid than I thought.
Yeah but he has listened to her and it has kept him from getting in trouble. :P
I would never listen to a goody-good like her!!!!
Every person needs someone to balance them out and that is what she does. So be nice to her. please
Do you want to listen to a person of the same age who is worse than your mother?
I don't get it - she really sucks
:P >:( :P >:(
Are you trying to say us something?
I would rather get kicked out of Hogwarts than listen to someone who sounds and acts like my mom!!!!! ::)Who would do that??? ???
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

there is no Harry Potter without Herminone
Thank You!

i like ehrmoine but the only thing that annoys me about her when she says stuff to harry that invloves dumbledore and sirius.........when i know something and dont go with it i hate it when ppl remind me because i know what it is and dont need to be repeatedly told u know what i mean,....but i think shes goood int he books
I never demanded Harry Potter Books without Hermione, but sometimes she has an Outstanding in annoyance!
Well - she has an outstanding in everything but DA I think.
uNoPooh i love your name and hermione is really really annoying but you kond of forgive her when you see a moment of weakness like when snape calls her stuff in class in book3 and you think aw
you people they are best friends and none of them can say that she is annoyn!!!!!
Well, I don't find Hermione annoying and personally I think that there aren't anu useless characters in all the 6 books. But Hermione's and Ron's endless scuffles drive me crazy! ;D
Ok, I am using my mod powers to offically close this thread, no more replys to this thread!
Listen, that had nothing to do with you. I just asked a question. This post of yours is plain offtopic.
What part of no more replies don't you understand? This thread is old, its a prime target for being spammed, and as a mod I have to keep that from happening. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm targeting you, I'm not, I'm targeting others on this site prone to spamming, and this needs to be closed, ok?
what the heck i know shes a know it all but she keeps those two boys in line! if it werent for her they would have been expelled like the first day of school. i think that hermione is like such a great role model for kids these days! ;D ;) :) :( >:( 8) :-*
u know i don't care if this an old thread :P

1) Please don't write in all caps.
2) Please don't do that crap with the scrolling.
Paavni123, like Neo said, please don't use CAPS. Also, it'd be greatly appreciated if you refrained from using such rude language. If I see it again, I will report you to Admin.
Anyways, I thought this thread was locked... Or maybe I hit my head harder than I thought yesterday... lolz... :P
Am actually Hermoine is not annoyin but cool and pretty and if she was annoying then they would have died!
What rude language was in that - the only word i seen that was close to it but wasn't even a rude word was hell - rude words are Sh*t and all sorts
I was just thinking the same thing Keep...
Yeah i agree with ya but what happens is she left. We'd be left with 2/3 of the golden trio and the two boys would be kinda stupid
yer but there were also times that harry figured out stuff the hermoine didn't like in the first movie harry figured out that there was something up about hagrid an the dragon - no one carrys dragons eggs around in their pocket if you remember

do you know how to use a space bar?!

Hermione's not that bad..
Is it her fault that she's clever enough to know what's good for
Harry and Ron???...
No clever person can just tolerate someone, especially a close friend, who's view in life is opposite of what she/he believes is the right thing to do...
That would mean that no clever person can ever be tolerant?
Despite the fact, that she is extraordinary smart she also tries to patronize Harry and Ron.
That's not what she meant by the word tolerant. She meant that a clever person wouldn't just sit back and tolerate someone doing something wrong. She didn't mean that a clever person can't tolerate anyone not as smart as they are. Different definition of tolerance.
I get your point but I meant tolerance it in exactly the way you describe it.
Even though she thinks that it is stupid of Harry and Ron breaking the rules, that would not hinder her leaning back and let Harry and Ron do whatever they want. And I don't think that she should always be quiet and let them their will, but shes exactly the opposite - she never remains silent - she always barks around, how dangerous, "don't you dare ..." etc etc thats really annoying.
Try to imagine a character like Hermione in real life? As a boy and teenager would you want to hang around with her? You can't have fun with her.
To come back to the point - one of the great difficulties of loving someone is to accept the person as he or she is and not trying to change the other one. And thats a thing Hermiones character isn't capable of.

But that's why she's there. J.K. put her in there as a counter-balence to Ron's airheadedness and Harry's immaturity. She's the voice of rationality and maturity. Sometimes a conscience can be annoying, but its necessary nonetheless.
QuoteTry to imagine a character like Hermione in real life? As a boy and teenager would you want to hang around with her? You can't have fun with her.
Yes. Because if your idea of fun is to go galevanting around doing stupid things, then you have a lot of growing up to do. I'm 17, and I'm a guy, and I would have no problem with someone like her. I can't stand people on MTV and crap like that, simply because they have such a complete disregard for commonsense and rules, thinking only of the next high and what feels good to them at that particular moment in time and space.
QuoteTo come back to the point - one of the great difficulties of loving someone is to accept the person as he or she is and not trying to change the other one. And thats a thing Hermiones character isn't capable of.
But that's where you wrong. If she didn't love Harry and Ron, what else has kept her at Harry's side for 6 years and the constant threat of death? What else makes her so concerned with helping him? What else would make her willing to potentially risk her life by dedicating herself to Harry at the end of book 6 if not for love?
I think Neo won this fight, or heated disagreement, whichever term you prefer.
I fully accept that there has to be a counter balance tho Ron and Harry, and I would not mind Hermione if she calms thems down. But its the way she does it! Why does she have to act in extremes. Is really seems that she is not able to have fun.
You are arguing about the other extreme - boys or girls who are only stupid - and nothing else.
I fully accept and regret that Rowlings characters are a bit too shallow and plain for my taste, but that doesn't mean that I don't love to read these books.
About my last statement about love, I fear you have missed my point completely. I didn't want to say that Hermione does not love Harry and Ron - I only wanted to state that a part of truly loving someone is to accept the person as a whole and not trying to form and model the other. But maybe that does not count here, because at the age of Harry and Ron you have not fully developed your personality - so changing has to be done and may be sensible.
But nonetheless I find the character of Hermione in this extreme form unnatural and a bit too plain. And above all extremely annoying.

I dont see the necessity of winning or loosing a discussion, do you?
I just want to understand other points of view and how they argue - that can be really interesting. Unfortunately Neo is one of the few exceptions here and I really appreciate the discussions.
There is only one way to explain both of your points. It's pretty apparent that Hermione cares for Harry and Ron. But sometimes to fully care you have to go to extrems and try and change them. For example, if you were doing something that was really harmful to yourself, whatever that may be, your parents would, or hopefully would, step in and stop you. Even if you told them that that's just the way you are and that they should just accept it, I seriously doubt that they would say "Okay, we'll let you keep doing what your doing."
The same rules apply to Hermione. She sees that what Harry's and Ron's actions could lead down a path that's not necessarily good for them. So she steps in and says something. It just so happens that useally they are doing something that will get them into alot of trouble or worse. Yes it's good to let people make there mistakes and all, but I think both Harry and Ron passed that line in book 2.
I think she sounds ok. It's Ron who annoys me. Dunno why, he just generally annoys me.
I agree.
JERRY JERRY JERRY!!!
