Title: On the Train... to Hogwarts
Post by: Fayah Tirina on October 30, 2005, 03:23:20 AM
Fayah sat on the train, it was raining outside.  It was her first year at Hogwarts.  She originally lived in Hong Kong, but her family moved when she got her letter.  She had a cat in her lap, and shewas stroking it.  'I wonder if I'll meet anybody,' she thought.

Shawn was walking down the train hall, looking into the compartments every now and then. He stopped when he saw Fayah and walked in,"Hey, I'm Shawn. You must be new here."

Fayah looked up.  "Yes, I am.  This will be my first year here.  And I will be a %th year here, I think.  My name is Fayah Tirina, by the way.  You?"

Shawn looked at her and shrugged,"Either China or Japan. I can't remember."He pulled out a drawing pad and started drawing a desert.

Fayah gave a laugh.  "It a 'SAR', but yes, it part of China."

Shawn smirked and rubbed his finger on the drawing."Knew it had to be in there somewhere."

Fayah shrugged.  "Whatever you say," she mumbled.

Shawn looked at her quizzically and shrugged. After a few more minutes of drawing, he tossed the drawing pad aside and got up."I'm gonna go change into my uniform."

Fayah shrugged yet again.  She snapped twice, and she was changed.

Shawn's eye twitched and he marched out of the compartment. He came back two minutes later with a look of betrayl on his face and sat down defiantly. He was still in his Birdhouse t-shirt and ripped up blue jeans.

{look of betrayal? wt-freak?}

Fayah just gave him a questioning glance, but continued to stare out the window, at the falling rain.

{now, i'm getting bored.}

(Never give me a theasurus...)

Shawn looked at Fayah and said,"My uniform is in Syria and now I don't have a way to get it. To answer your question."

(me too...)

"Yep, I tried snapping my fingers to change but sent my uniform to Syria."

Fayah gave him a quizziacal look, but snapped her fingers 3 times.  And his uniform appeared.  "Your welcome, but I still don't get how you got it to Syria.  Well, actually now that I think about it.... nevermind."

Fayah muttered something in Catonese.

{{That put 'hand to head' sounds like something my friend's teacher does.  Her 'Sorry Dance'.. which is really scary.}}

"Maybe not a way you had expected, anyway.." came a weary, soft voice from the doorway, tones quiet in sound, but bold and strong beneath.

Lavender appeared as she rounded the corner, her hyper-sensitive ears catching the voices of her employers from quite a ways away. She seemed as if she was talking to herself, finishing off a rather weathering conversation, but in one were to look with a closer eye, her aura was pulsating with another's responses.
An extremely heavy stone of swirling greens followed her, hovering in midair in her wake, though drooping slightly, for Lavender was utterly exhausted, and her magics were tiring in the moment. It was not an orb, though it resembled such in many ways. Only she knew of what it truly was.

She wore loose, but hugging faded jeans, Egyptian-like, diamond imprinted sandals, and a simple black tank, her raven hair pulled up, and out of the way. A casual, normal look of Lavender, except for the shoes. She had been, all summer, working frantically before a very formal audience - she had forgotten to change her shoes. Her many-shaded green eyes noticed this after a few moments, and the shoes were in a flicker replaced by simple sneakers.

Lavender leaned against the wall, and sighed, her shoulders weighed with an invisible burden, but shaken off as she noted the people in the compartment. She offered a smile, her mood light, for it was raining. Storms seemed to bring out the best moods in her. Perhaps because it was usually her emotions that caused them here...
She fixed her gaze upon the girl, and smiled ever so slightly.
"Welcome to the Hogwarts Express," said she, winking. "A very interesting year awaits you."
Her eyes flickered over to Shawn, and she smiled once more.
"And Shawn, welcome back."

"Hello Lavender. How was your summer?"He smiled at her.

"Ah... Horrible, horrible. But it always is. No matter. I am returning home now..." she returned in soft tones.

Lavender had no home. Other than Hogwarts. Her schedule during the summer was more hectic than it was during the school year. And only those whom knew what she worked through during the school year, knew how horrible that was.
Lavender smiled, used to the workload, and crossed her arms across her chest, still leaning against the doorway - casual.

"And yours?"

"Good. Sorry about your summer though."Shawn had managed to get custady of his sister, Destiny, and didn't have to roam the desert anymore.

"Oh.." Lavender said awkwardly.. truly suprised. She was a bit taken off-guard - his hinted sympathy she had not expected. "Well, thank you. I am most pleased to hear of your happy summer. Destiny should be utterly delighted."

Lavender smiled, and winked, her eyes moving then to Fayah.
"Fayah. The newest regestered student at Hogwarts," returned she. "I am Lavender."

Lavender rolled her shoulder slightly, without much thought, a smile still hinted upon her features. In all honesty, Lavender had been in a horrible mood earlier - but returning to Hogwarts, and returning to her friends and actually humane people, was certainly lightening.

"Yes. I couldn't get Destiny to let go of me."He smiled slightly but still wondered why Lavender had acted...surprised when he showed sympathy. He wanted to say something but knew that it would be better to talk among themselves.

Fayah took out a book, and started to read.

Lavender offered yet another smile, the face of the little sister of Shawns dancing before her eyes. Which reminded her of the heavy stone, hovering behind her. With a thought, the stone disappeared.

"She loves you so..." she said quietly, her smile slipping into a most serious expression. "Being with you will be good for her."

~~She is a girl though. You may have some troubles along the years with things. Need be that you ever need help, always feel free to find me.~~ - Lavender's voice smoothly melted into Shawn's thoughts, as if she had spoken aloud, though her voice had never come. She had sent her words, then, as a thought, reaching him with ease.

Lavender inclined her head with a most angelic grace.
"Of course..." she murmured quietly.

"I think we are at our...."
The train began to slow, then abruptly, with a jerking force, stopped, throwing Lavender to the floor, beneath the table. There was a rough growl, and for a moment Lavender was still, until she backed out, and once more, stood, frowning, nursing an already forming dark bruise on her forearm.
"Stop," she finished bitterly.

Lavender glanced out the window and shook her head, the storm outside becoming quite fierce.
"It seems we are at our stop, and that the driver is either a little excited, or intoxicated."

Lavender grumbled, and turned.
"To the carriages we go..."

Lavender started out of the train.

Lavender nodded, clasping her hands behind her back, hiding the bruise, stepping out into the pounding rain and toward an empty carriage.

"I'm alright.. Surprised was all..."

Ginny walked outside of the carrige, holding a second year by the arm. She had found him being picked on by some fourth years and had saved him. Now she was directing him inot an empty carrige, and yelling at the fourth years to go into another one. She caught a glimps of Lavender and Shawn and waved.

Lavender attempted a scowl, but smiled, instead.

"Sly male."

She turned her arm and rubbed at the ever-growing bruise, but then stopped, waving in return to Ginny.

"I.. I can't."

Lavender sighed, her cheeriness fading, holding her arm close.

"I hit a copper rod when I fell. I am strangely allergic to copper - anywhere I am hit, scratched, impaled - whatever - anywhere on my body that I am injured with something copper, it will not heal with any magic or such. The wounds will gradually, heal, but it takes just as much time as they would heal, should I be non-magical."

Lavender shook her head, and sighed, yet again.
