Alicia along the edge of the lake, looking into the murky depths sadly. She sighed and looked up at the sky, trying to make things better with her mind. She closed her eyes and imagined her sister, Lynna, hugging her and saying that everything was alright, and that she wasn't jealous. Opening her eyes, she sighed and knew that it was not that way. The thought of her sister made her depressed. She knew that she, the bouncy, happy eleven-year-old shouldn't be feeling this down... She missed her sister.
Tears stung her eyes and she rubbed them absently. She was determined not to cry and be called a crybaby. But no, of course her body didn't listen to her. Tears started spilling down her face as she walked, just wishing that her sister was on good terms with her. She stopped walking and sat below a near-by tree, pulling her knees in and hiding her face from any passer-bys. She didn't want them to know that she was crying. Even if she was a first year, she didn't think that anyone would take kindly to her crying. Definently a Slytherin, if one passed.
She sniffed, trying to stop the tears. She shouldn't be this down... She should be playing with one of her few friends or something of the sort. Not crying... Ever. She was hard on herself, but her sister told a long time ago that crying never helped matters, and that she shouldn't have self-pity, because there was nothing extremely major wrong with her life.
Josh was in wolf form prancing around happily. As he walked the wind blew his fur and it flowed with the wind.He looked over at Alicia and saw that she was trying to keep from crying.Josh really felt bad for her he knew what she was going through.
He turned back into human form and turned invisable. He went over to Alicia and and lightly tapped on her head just enough to get her frightened.
"Huh?!" Alicia looked up quickly and saw no one. She looked around, her tear-streaked face showing surprise. She blinked and trembled, not knowing if she was going crazy or if it was magic. She wasn't quite used to magic yet. Her eyes searched the area.
"Hello, is anyone there?" Alicia asked. A slight wind started blowing and made her brown hair dance with it. It dried her tears.
Josh laughed almost falling to the ground. He saw how it had made her stop.
"Its just me,Josh."He said turning visable again.
"Don't do that!" Alicia said, turning away from him, "You nearly gave me a heartattack!"
She wiped her eyes quickly, not wanting to seem like she was always crying in front of him. She turned back and looked at him, shook her head, and sighed. She sometimes hated magic. Definently when people played tricks on her with that. She sighed again and looked at him, "So, why are you here?"
"Sorry, and im here just becasue i was bored and i felt like teasing someone."Josh said looking at her."But i was really just trying to cheer you up."
Alicia looked up at him with a glare, but couldn't keep it up for long. Her face burst into a smile and she giggled, "Well, you sure did a good job of it."
She scratched her head and looked away from him, at the forest. She didn't know why she saw him around so much really. Not that she minded, but it was a little wierd that they always seemed to be running into eachother. She looked around again to him and then glanced at the sky, "It's almost lunchtime."
"I already had my lunch. Some student dropped his lunch and it was safe so free lunch."He smiled pulled a stone out of his pocket."I havent done this for a long time."Josh threw the stone up and put his hand out.The stone shot foward into the water.Josh lifted his hand up and the stone came out of the water and plopped back in as Josh let his hand down.
"How are you doing that... I mean, I know you're useing magic, but still..." Alicia said, watching the stone. She tilted her head as it plopped into the water again.
"No its not really magic its an elemental power.Ive had it for a while now."He put up his hand a big chunk of ground came off of the ground. He flung his hand and it fell into the forest."See?"
Alicia blinked. She saw, but she didn't understand, "Do you think that I have one of those elements too?"
She looked at the place where the chunk of ground had disappeared and then back to Josh.
"I dont know if you do,but if you do you could feel it.Ginny told me this when i found out i had an elemental power. They do come in handy."He put his hands on the ground.
"Hmmm..." Alicia searched inside herself for any type of feeling like that. She didn't know what it would feel like, but she would try anyways. She did feel something that she didn't thing was normal, but it was pretty faint. She blinked and the world focused again. She sighed, "I think I might have felt something, but I'm not sure if it's what I should feel for the...erm... elemental power."
"If you feel it you will know trust me."he made a slight earthquake. But just enough for the ground to shake just for a little bit.
"Really... you'll know the element and everything? I kinda want..." The small earthquake stopped her for a second, "To be able to do that or something. I don't know if I can or not... I mean, I'm just a normal..."
Her hand flew up to her mouth. She was about to say that she was a normal girl, but that was not true. For goodness sakes, she lived in a castle that was a school for magic. That was not "normal." She smiled, "I do want to do it though."
She searched her mind again and felt the same thing. This time, it felt right. She just seemed to know that it was that type of power. She opened her eyes and smiled, "I think I do have it... but I don't know how to use it. I don't think it's with earth..."
She walked over to the water and knelt down to feel it, "Not water... and air doesn't seem right either. That leaves..."
"Fire"He said softly stopping the earthquake."Alicia! If you have fire be very careful with it!Do you understand me?"He said staring at her."Im not trying to be mean but that kinda only destroys! And it is very rare.If you do have it be very very very careful ok?"
Alicia gulped and looked at his eyes, which pressed his point on her. His sudden change in attitude scared her a little. She nodded and gulped again, "Ye-yes... I'll be extremely careful."
She knew that his warning was very well based. She felt the power inside her again and thought about fire... The power seemed to fit right in and she nodded. No doubt about it. It was fire. She gulped for a third time, now a little scared. She feebily joked, "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it."
She looked up at him, smiling a little, "The safest thing is to train it, right? I've got to find someone who will. Then I'll know how to control it. It still doesn't change who I am. You don't think any differently about me, do you?"
"No not at all one thing cant change w hole person, but if you abuse your power then i would think defferently about you."
"I don't know how to use it, much less abuse it... but I still need to train it so I don't use it in ignorance," she thought gloomily. She shook her head and smiled, "I shouldn't be down about this! I'll find someone to teach me, and only use it sparingly! I promise!"
She looked up at him and smiled warmly. She wouldn't hurt anything, if she could help it.
"My friend Payne handled fire.If she comes back she could teach you."He said smiling again thinking about Payne.
"Or Kiara, or me, or Lav. Alot of us can handel fire pretty well, even if it's not our best Josh." Ginny sat, walking up. Once again she wore dress robes, having just appeared from Ancient Romainia.
"Yeah but i really never see Kiara and i didnt know you could use fire, and i complelty forgot about Lav."He said not even looking at Ginny.
"I can use all the elements. I can't master them, but I had to learn basic stuff." She said, "It was harder because water is my natural ability."
"Yeah i knew about water, but not fire or air or earth."He said finally looking at her.
She looked tierd and upset, but obviously she wasn't upset with him right now. She had more important things.
"Yeah." She said.
"Something wrong Gin?"Josh said studying her face.
"....what?" Ginny said, snapping out of her thoughts.
"I said is something wrong?"He repeated.
"Oh...yeah, but it dosn't matter." She said, rubbing the back of her neck, absently.
Alicia smiled at Ginny, but it faded as they continued their conversation. She did a thing she knew was pretty rude, but she had to interupt.
"Will you teach me, Ginny? Teach me how to use the fire?" Alicia asked, her brown eyes wide. She blinked and tilted her head.
"It shouldnt be that hard to learn the basics from Ginny."Josh said looking to Alicia then to Ginny.
"Sure. After all, it'll fill up my classroom quota for the month." She said, nodding.
"Oh! Thank you so much!" Alicia exclaimed happily. She grinned and looked at Ginny, "So, when do we start? I can't wait!"
"Whenever you want." Ginny said, absently.
"As soon as possible!" Alicia said, looking up at Ginny, "Whenever you have free time!"
"Yeah. Well, I have meeting tonight so if I don't have to do anything tomarrow, I'll come get you." She said.
"Yeah learning sounds fun!"Said Josh half sarcastic half jokingly.
Alicia turned to him, "You're the one who warned me about fire."
She lost her smile and looked at him with a plain expression before her face burst into a grin, "Tomorrow? Okay! I can't wait!!!!!"
"Ya i know but i never liked learning no matter what it was."He said grinning.
She looked at him, a lively sparkle in her eyes, "If I didn't like learning, I wouldn't be here. I'd be with my sister, so that we would be together again. I find magic facinating. I couldn't stop learning even if I tried."
There was such determination in Alicia's eyes, and knowledge that this was her only chance to be something other than normal. She knew that this was important and that she shouldn't throw it away. She sighed and shook her head, "You might not understand, since you were from a family of witches and wizards. You grew up with magic. It was obvious that you were going to be accepted, right? Well, my family didn't even know about Hogwarts until I got my letter. It was... life changing."
She looked down, afraid that she had said too much. She didn't want either of them to be mad at her. She cringed and waited for either one to send her hurtful words.
"I understand."Josh said looking at her seriously."I didnt think i was magical until i found out i could become invisable."
"We thought Josh was a squib at first." Ginny told her, smiling slightly.
He grinned in knowing that he was actually right for once.
Alicia looked up at him and then to Ginny, "What's a... squib?"
She smiled, feeling even more relation to Josh. So, he did understand, at least a little. She sighed, she was learning more about him every second.
"A non-magical child born to a magical family." Ginny said.
"I thought i was too and i thought you guys would torure me about it."He said smiling remembering Fred and George making fun of him and using magic in front of him.
"No, we loved to mess with you, but we never ment any of it."
"Yeah Percy did im sure.Stupid prat."He said smiling.
