Title: My Last
Post by: Ginny Weasly on October 19, 2007, 03:57:53 AM
Now, I know I am not done with the other one just yet. But I decided to put part one of the next one out as a sorta preview. And no, none of you get any hints about the ending of the last one or about this one.

Those are secrets of mine.

Now, onto our preview. It is short, but oh well.
________________________________________________________________________________

Part One
The wind howled and screamed as it whipped around a small house in the British countryside. It woke a baby's sleep. He awoke first with a whimper, then a scream of impatience. His mother pushed open the door, carrying a bottle and a blanket. The soft candle light that lit the room illuminated her face. She was young, but not rundown. She seemed to enjoy being a young mother.
She walked to her son and picked him out of his crib, "Hush my angel." She crooned to him. His crying stopped almost immediately. He instead gurgled and giggled as he reached for her face. She smiled, carrying him to a rocking chair and settling herself in it. She covered them both and held the bottle for him, since he wasn't quiet able to hold it himself yet.
As she rocked him back to sleep, the wind blew angrily. She seemed not to notice, and started to hum a strange, haunting melody. The baby fell into a restful sleep in his mother's arms, and she smiled at her child. She hugged him to her, knowing that no matter what happened, they would get through it together.

Part Two
   "Dear Ginny,
Darling, why don't you ever write? We miss you so much at home. Perhaps you could come home for a visit? Your father and I miss you, as do your brothers. Please try to make some time and at least write to your poor family.
                  Love,
                     Mum"

   "Mother-
I will be arriving in London at noon, so that places me at the Burrow around 2.
                  All my love,
                     Ginny"

Ginny made a face as she read over the letter before sealing it and attaching it to the owls leg. She frowned, thinking how much it was like something that Percy would write as she sent the owl off.
Hours later, Molly tore open the note and squealed with delight. She hurried up to Ginny's room to dust and place new bed sheets on the bed. The she stopped, wondering why Ginny would be arriving late. The girl could apperate and transport. Molly shrugged, maybe Ginny just wanted the time to think.

Part Three
Ginny slowly pushed open the door to the burrow the next day, noting the stillness of the place. She glanced towards the kitchen and called out softly, "Mum?"
Molly came out of the kitchen beaming, with her arms open for a hug. But before Ginny gave her a one, she placed what looked to be clothing on the couch. Molly looked puzzled at the clothing then at Ginny as she motioned for her to follow her into the kitchen.
Molly sat herself down at the table as Ginny began to make tea. He eyes were filled with questions, but she didn't seem to know how to word them. Ginny solved the problem a moment later as she sat across from her, placing a cup down.
"He's about six months old, Mum." She said, stirring her tea and blowing on it. "He has yet to show his powers, but I've no doubt he has them."
Molly's mouth dropped open and she started to whimper. Ginny made a noise in her throat, "Stop that, Mum. You'll wake-" She didn't get to finish as there was a cry from the living room. Ginny sighed and stood,, intending to go sooth the child.
Molly followed her, watching with wide eyes as Ginny picked up the squalling infant. As the covers fell back, she covered her mouth, "He has...wings?"
Ginny nodded, touching the silky smooth black wings with the tip of her finger, "He has no control over their appearance yet." She said, "But yes, he has wings."
Molly looked at the now happy baby, "What's his name?"
   "I don't know yet."

Part Four

Later that night, Ginny sat next to the fire place, near the warmth. The baby was asleep in an old bassinet beside her. She had an old cover pulled over her and she hunched close to the fire. She glanced up, then pulled the bassinet  closer. She looked down into it, touching the child's pale face with her little finger.
He was a sound sleeper most nights, a good baby. He had no problems that kept Ginny awake late at night, and so the two of them seemed perfect. But Ginny still didn't know what to name him.
As far as she saw, she didn't create the child on her own. So therefore, she shouldn't be allowed to name him on her own. Her logic was slightly tainted, she knew deep down that she would eventually have to choose a name on her own.
But what if he comes back, she often wondered to herself. She wondered it now as she gazed at the baby with wonder. She was amazed how much he looked like his father. His blue eyes, which were closed now. His black hair, even his wings. She didn't understand much about the Fallen people, but she knew the legends.
She smiled sadly at the baby, feeling as though she were about to cry. But she refused to shed a tear, she had not cried in a long time. Not when she had realized that Xaver would probably never come back, and not when she sat up at nights watching over the baby.
The door creaked open and her father came in, holding a tray of hot cocoa. He smiled at her and sat down on the floor, the bassinet between them.
"He's a beautiful child." Arthur said to her, quietly. He was silent for a few moments, then "If you don't mind my asking...what is with the wings?"
Ginny smiled, "They are from his father's side. When he gets older, he'll be able to hide them at his will."
   "What...was his father?" Arthur asked.
"A Fallen prince." Ginny said, looking at her son with pride.

Part Five
Even after all this time, speaking of Xaver brought tears to Ginny's eyes. Which was why she had refused to speak of him since she had found out she was pregnant.  So once Arthur had given Ginny some tissues and gave the child to Molly to watch, Ginny told her father all that had happened.
"Xaver and I were friends for a long while. I can pinpoint the day that changed, it was fall, just before the winter snow. In the year that would fallow, we went through a lot together."
I met his younger sister, Kyllie and his twin brother Xences. And Kyllie was with us for such a short time...she was killed by Xences." Ginny began to sob, recalling the young child who had lost her life.
"She was young, even for a Fallen."
At this point, Arthur interrupted, "What is a Fallen?"
"You've heard of fallen angels?" Ginny raised her eyebrows.
"You mean, angels who fall through some sort of demonic power?" Arthur said, both amazed and awed. Ginny nodded, drying her tears. Arthur mused for a moment, "Does that mean Xaver was...bad?" He asked, using bad for lack of a better word.
"Oh gods no!" Ginny said, somewhat appalled. She shook her head a few times to emphazise her point, "Xaver was as good as anyone. He had his past, which I know little of, but for as long as I knew him, he was good."
"So is the baby a Fallen?" Arthur asked, tilting his head to the side.
"Well, yes and no. The baby is half human. He's also half...angel, if you will. I say angel because there is no other word for their kind." Ginny shrugged slightly, "but besides that, Xaver was a Fallen Prince."
"Okay, so after Kyllie dies, what happened?" Arthur said, directing Ginny back to her story. She nodded and gave him a somewhat estranged look.
"Xaver slowly became more distant, but that didn't mean he didn't love me. Then he disappeared for months at a time. The last time he came back, I..." She looked at her hands, "I argued with him. Accusing him of not caring. Of not wanting to be near me. Of leaving me just like everyone else did." She shook her head sadly. "I know I angered him, but although I know he was still at Hogwarts for at least a week afterwards, I hardly said a word to him. Then he disappeared one last time."
Arthur looked at her with sadness, "Why did you leave, Ginny?"
Ginny shook her head, "I couldn't do it all, Dad. I needed to figure out what is was that I wanted for me and my child." There was a soft cry from the kitchen and Molly came into the room, holding the baby.
"He won't take his bottle for me." Molly told Ginny, handing the baby to it's mother. Ginny smiled slightly and patted the baby's head.
"He will sometime, Mum." She took the bottle and retired to her room with the child.
Molly and Arthur looked at each other with wonder. Without saying a thing, they agreed that they had raised a brave, wonderful daughter.

"Cody..." Molly shook a piece of paper in front of Arthurs nose, waking him from his nap.
"What?" Arthur said, yawning and watching his wife with confusion. Molly shook the paper again, and he could see the small, neat script on it.
"Our grandsons name. Ginny wrote to me this morning. She says 'I realized this morning that Xaver won't be coming back anytime soon, and that I had better name my son before he becomes old enough to develop an identity crisis or something of the sort. It took me all morning and about a million pieces of parchment, but I've decided. His name is Xerxes Codium Xian. Obviously, that's a mouthful, so I'm going to call him Cody...'," Molly looked at Arthur, smiling brightly. "Cody..." The she folded the paper up and hit Arthur on the nose with it. He had fallen asleep while she was reading.

Miles away, Ginny lay on her bed her newly named baby beside her. She propped herself up on one elbow, her free hand playing with Cody's fingers, talking lowly to him.
"My little angel, you take after your father in so many ways. And though him and I were not married, are not, I gave you his last name. I no longer have him, but I have you. You are his son, I already know..." She touched his nose gently, "You have his hair, his eyes, his skin color. Even if I wanted to forget him, I could not. You keep him alive to me, you know that?"
She smiled down at him, "That's not to say I don't love you as yourself. Of course I do. Even if you lost your likeness to him, and acting as a polar opposite-I hope not for he was kind-I will still love you. My darling angel, my Cody."

((Sorry for the wait....))

And  yet...Ginny couldn't fully accept the fact that Xaver was completely gone. No, she wasn't an optimist in any sense of the word. But she just couldn't shake the feeling that Xaver was still out there, somewhere. And that just depressed her more, because if he was out there, alive, wouldn't he want to contact her?
Or was she simply being vain? Just because they had been in love, didn't mean he was indebted to her. He didn't have to let her know where he was. And he didn't have to let her know if he was alive or dead. Especially if he was still angry at her.
Ginny was sitting in her kitchen, thinking of these things, a notebook in front of her. She had been scribbling, not really paying attention to what was there. She looked down, amused to see what she had written.
'I miss you. Your son looks just like you, do you know that? I doubt you do...but he reminds me of you so much...'
She shook her head, "I'm such a..," but what she was, she couldn't find a word for.

Still, Xaver didn't come back. She wasn't surprised, she knew in the deepest regions of her heart that he wasn't coming back. It saddened her.
But Cody grew, looking more like his father than anyone ever could. In him, she saw Xaver more than she saw herself. Looking at him made her happy, but a little sad too. She saw Xaver in him in everything he did, and it made her realize all the more that Xaver wasn't around.

"Mum, will you check on Cody?" Ginny asked her mother one day while she was doing dishes at the Burrow. Molly nodded and crept away from where she had been listening at the door. In the next room, Arthur was talking to the Minister of Magic, and Molly wanted to know what was being said.
nonetheless, she did as Ginny asked and went outside, looking for Cody. A moment later, she came back inside, lookingpale, "He's not there."
"What?" Ginny dropped the plate she had been holding and it smashed against the floor. She gaped at her mother, "What do you mean?"
"He's not there, I don't know where he is..."
"Are you sure he didn't come inside?" Ginny asked, feeling her breath start to leave her. Cody was missing. Her baby, her lifeline. Her three year old baby was missing. She felt a wave of fear.

Ginny wasn't afraid for long, because then she grew angry. Simply by walking out to the garden, she knew where Cody was. She gave her mom one glance, then was gone, disappearing without a sound.
She reappeared in the Ministry lobby, amongst the arriving workers. Some people jumped at her sudden  appearance and the large noise that accompanied her. She pushed several people out of the way, instantly becoming the center of attention with her red hair and dark, flowing clothes.
"I want to speak to Dolores Umbridge now!" She screamed, causing all to become silent. Someone nodded, and ran off to get the woman Ginny wanted to see. A few of the guards tried to calm Ginny, and one even tried to get her wand. One glare silenced them, and the one trying to get her wand was pushed gently, but firmly back into a wall. She began to pace, her eyes searching for Umbridge, even as the woman came tottering out on her stubby legs.
Ginny turned on the spot, raising her wand and pointing it directly at Umbridge's heart, supposing the woman had one, "Where is the hell is he?", she half yelled, her voice sending chills down everyone's spines. She didn't notice, didn't care. Her eyes were narrowed in anger, focusing on Umbridge solely.
Umbridge took a deep breath, feigning innocence and confusion. It didn't work, she only managed to look even more guilty.
   "Who are you talking about?"
"You know perfectly well who I'm talking about!" Ginny screamed, and sparks erupted from the end of her wand, landing harmless on the floor. But it scared Umbridge and she turned to the person who had fetched her.
"Go get him. He's in my office." There was a tense silence, then a murmur as the person came back, leading a small, dark haired boy by the hand.
The boy watched the crowd with intense intelligence, his ice blue eyes sweeping over each face and etching it into memory. He looked curiously at them all, until he saw Ginny. She knelt down, holding her arms out and he ran to her, smiling in her hug.
Ginny stroked his hair, kissing his cheeks, checking him over as any parent would. Cody was fine as far as she could tell, and she simply knelt there, hugging him.
Until, "Take him. We don't want the filthy half-breed."

"What did you say?" Ginny slowly stood, her eyes swinging to Umbridge with accusation. Cody popped his thumb in his mouth, undisturbed by anything. His eyes were on Umbridge, cold and calculating, even though he was three.
Umbridge knew Ginny had won, but she wanted to get in at least a few stings before she admited complete defeat, "You heard me. He's a filthy half-breed! An atrocity to our race!" She paused, then added, "Just like his parents."
Ginny raised her wand, intending to curse Umbridge out of existence, but only got it halfway up when a thin trail of ice spread from her and Cody, encircling Umbridge's waist. It encased her in pure, solid ice and the woman screamed. Ginny's mouth dropped open slightly and she swiftly picked up Cody and hugged him to her.
She glanced back at Umbridge one last time and started out of the lobby, but was stopped by the whisper, "Don't you want the files?"
"Yes, of course." She said, nodding and going towards the elevator. They went down a hallway or two and while the man went into a door, Ginny stood outside, holding Cody for dear life. She heard footsteps and turned slightly, catching eye of a gilr much younger than herself, Vanessa, wasn't it?
"Beautiful, isn't he?" Ginny said, holding Cody tightly. He had his head on her shoulder, his thumb still in his mouth and he was relaxed. His eyes were half open, no longer showing the cold calculating look of before, but his gaze was still intense.
Vanessa smiled at Cody, ruffling his hair slightly, "He's adorable," she said, "what's your name?" She asked him. Cody looked to Ginny before smiling back at Vanessa.
   "Cody."
"What happened back there?" A boy Vanessa's age came running up, a worried expression on his face. He had seen all that had happened, and had known Ginny when she was a teacher at Hogwarts. Ginny shook her head slightly at Albus, not wanting to scare her child more than needed. She set Cody down beside her, holding his hand and leaning against the wall.
But Cody was calm as he swung his intense blue eyes to Albus, "That lady was mean...she upset Momma."
There was noise as someone else came running up, and Ginny instinctively gribbed Cody's hand tighter as one of her ex-students came into view. Ginny had a moment where she didn't see the now adult woman in front of her, and instead saw the little girl she had taken under her wing. The girl who had been confused about her powers and had cried because she had gotten lost in the castle.
   "Ginny, is that you?"

Sarah was standing before Ginny and the others now. She must have been about 18, maybe 19 years old now.

"It's deathly cold out..."Ginny muttered to herself, rubbing her arms to try and warm them up. She came around a corner and paused, seeing a girl about a year or so younger than her. Didn't she know that girl? Oh yeah, from the Hospital Wing. Her name was...Sarah. Sarah Jones? The girl was sitting huddled on the floor, crying into her hands....

Ginny gently shook herself from the memory, and smiled tightly at Sarah, "Hello Sarah..." She gently played with Cody's hair, doing so absently. Sarah smiled at Ginny and knelt down to Cody's level.
"Who's this fellow?" She asked, looking at Ginny, "I've never met him." She was quiet for a moment, then spoke softly, 'I'm sorry about the way I acted when you left. I had no reason."

"Ginny you can't leave. I mean none of us are ready to fight. If you leave the school will be doomed. I need a good reason why you are leaving." Sarah stood, yelling at Ginny, who stood a few steps up.
"I'm afraid I don't have to explain myself to students." Ginny shot back, her voice stiff and cold.
"Oh I see. You can train us but when stuff starts to get hard you can leave without telling your friends what's the matter." Sarah began to cry.
   "I thought we were friends."

"What are you doing here? I thought you didn't work here anymore?" Sarah asked Ginny. Cody leaned heavily on Ginny's leg and she was pulled back to the present once again.
"I don't work here anymore...I came to get Cody."
"Why was Cody here?" Sarah clapped her hands over her mouth, standing up now, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."
Ginny didn't answer, but she needed have anyway, since Cody piped up, "That mean lady wanted my powers. But then she didn't 'cause I'm half a person."
Ginny's heart did a flip and she bit her lip. She looked down at her son and gently touched his hair, "You are not a half person, angel baby. You are a full person." Cody's wings were invisible at the moment, possibly because of what had happened in Umbridges's office.
Once again, Ginny felt an intense hate towards the woman, but was pulled out of it as she accepted Sarah's invitation to get something to eat. The three of them went to a restaurant, then Ginny invited Sarah and Albus (who had caught up by that time) to the Burrow. She knew Sarah was full of questions, and Ginny felt now was a good time to answer them. She led them all to a portkey and they appeared in front of the tall, homely looking building known as the Burrow.
Cody immediately ran inside, where Molly could be seen finishing the dishes. Ginny stood in the yard, running her fingers through her hair and looking at her two past students.
"Ginny...don't lie to me. You haven't been sleeping well, have you?" Sarah folded her arms, looking worried.
"I sleep fine. It's just," Ginny sighed, "You weren't supposed o find out about Cody this way."
"Don't be sad. To tell the truth, I wish I was you sometimes. I mean, you have a kid." Sarah looked at Ginny surprised.
Ginny frowned, turning and glaring at Sarah, "A child with no father. A child who is half human, half...I don't even know for sure! A child who has more power than most adult wizards..." She shook her head slowly, then started for the house.

Molly took Cody, putting him down for a nap. Ginny sat in a chair in the kitchen, looking at Sarah and Albus a bit tiredly.
   "Now is question time."
Sarah asked a few questions, about what Ginny had meant by evil, and why she had left Albus saved his, waiting for the right moment.
"What powers does Cody have? I mean, I saw him playing with Sarah's magic..." He asked quietly, as though afraid to offend Ginny.
"He has telepathy, but doesn't know how to use it yet," Ginny had avoided teaching Cody that for now, "As for his manipulating magic...that's something I taught him myself. It takes a lot of power."
"Okay, I don't have any other questions except for one. If manipulating magic takes a lot of power, how can he do it so easily?" Both looked at Ginny expectantly.
"Because even I don't know the extent of the power he inherited from his father." Ginny answered softly. She looked sad for a small moment, remembering Xaver. She had told Cody that Xaver was dead, thinking it better to not give him any hope.
A moment later, Cody came running into the room and buried his face in her side, "Momma! Granddad says there's a boogy man!" Ginny gave Arthur a stern look and began comforting her child.
"Dad, I told you! Don't tell him scary stories, you forget he's only three!"
"Yes, but he's a prodigy!" Arthur said back, laughing nervously in the face of Ginny's anger. He hardly finished the sentence when there was a crash in the next room.
Ginny jumped up, gathering Cody into her arms. But Cody didn't want to be held, and he slipped from her, running to see what the noise was with Sarah following.
"Cody! Wait!" Ginny felt scared, she didn't know what was in the next room and when Sarah called back, she ran in.
   And stopped breathing.

Ginny felt weak and fell to her knees, watching with her mouth open.
"I'm dead...I must be..." For there, on the floor, not more than ten feet away lay the shirtless, dirty, bloodied body of the only man she had ever loved, his wings half spread out in the small space.
   Xaver.

Ginny stood on her toes and gently kissed him on the lips, "Thank you." Then she looked away. He hooked one finger under her chin, turning her face and looking into her eyes. He smiled, then returned her kiss. Electricity spun up and down their backs, giving them a feeling of being warm and cold at the same time. Giving them goose bumps of pleasure.

"Momma?" Cody was standing over Xaver's body, looking down at him with wonder. He looked at Ginny, "Momma?"
Ginny pulled herself together, quickly, "Y...yes, angel?"
"He has wings...like me." As he spoke, his own black wings slowly materialized, now visible to all in the room. He reached out, gently stroking Xaver's cheek, then pulled his hand back as Xaver spoke.
"Sorry about your table, Mr. Weasly...." He opened his blue eyes, identical to those of Cody. His voice was low, and still sent chills of pleasure down Ginny's back.
Cody took a small step back now, looking from Xaver, to Ginny, to a large mirror that showed him and Xaver. Then he looked back down at Xaver, trying to remember where he had seen this man. But Cody had never seen Xaver, not even a picture of him. He had only seen himself and he looked so much like Xaver, it was as if there was a mirror in front of him.
Ginny couldn't stop starring, then shook herself out of it, realizing that it might not really be Xaver. She stood, shakily, then ordered Cody to her, "Cody. Come here."
Cody looked at Xaver one last time, then obediently went to his mother, taking her hand, "Why, Momma?"
"Because he might not be who I think he is." As she spoke, Xaver slowly stood, obviously in a lot of pain if one judged by the slow way he moved.
"I do assure you," Xaver spoke slowly, his eyes meeting Ginny's, "I am no fascade. There is only one other that could pass as an exact look alike, back in my youth, and he is long and changed, nowadays... You remember Xences, Ginny.. A ..charming gentleman."
His eyes went from hers to Cody. He looked surprised by Cody, and kept staring at him in wonder. And Cody and Ginny stared back. Arthur saw Ginny's expression and took a step forward.
"What bussines do you have with my daughter and her son?" He asked, bravely. Ginny reached a hand up.
"It's okay, dad. He's who he says he is." He hands were shaking, and her face was pale. She was having trouble breathing. She could only half believe this, what if it turned out to be a dream?
   "And who is he?"
"Xaver." Ginny said the name softly, and Cody looked up at her. His eyes zoomed across the room to Xaver.
He smiled, "That was my daddy's name."

"Was your daddy's name?" Xaver looked shocked, and somewhat hurt at this. He looked between Ginny and Cody with confusion. Sarah excused herself to get some water, and Albus left with her.
Cody nodded slowly at Xaver's question, "Yup, he was nice. I think." He smiled slowly, somewhat sadly, "But Momma doesn't know what happened to him. She thinks he's gone forever."
Ginny blinked away a few random tears and bent down, picking Cody up and holding him close, "Hush, my angel." She murmured softly, kissing his cheek.
Then Xaver moved closer, taking a few cautious steps until he was directly in front of Ginny and Cody, "She doesn't have to think that anymore..." His ice blue eyes met Ginny's and she saw exactly what she had hoped to see in his eyes. Unconditional love, honesty, and a deep want to be with them, "He's...I, am home. Forever. If she will allow it..."
And Cody's mouth dropped open, "You..." he started to say before he was suddenly handed to his Granddad.
"Take Cody upstairs, or outside or...somewhere." Ginny told Arthur. He nodded and carried away the small child, as Sarah brought in a pitcher of water. Ginny took it, thanking Sarah (who then left the room) and carried it to a small table, where she set it down.
"I'm sorry..." She said, quietly, not looking at Xaver. He was quiet, gripping the couch tightly as he wavered in place.
"You have...nothing to be sorry for, Ginny." She could feel his eyes on her, so she turned slightly, still not looking at his eyes. "I'm the one who went away, remember? It doesn't matter why, anymore...And now...I've come back...Always impeccable timing, huh?"
Ginny looked up, "It matters greatly why you left, I'm the one who said those terrible things, remember? I know it was a bit over three years ago, but I remember clearly," She finally met his eyes, frowning softly, "I drove you away."

"I can't take it anymore, Xaver!"
"What do you want from me?"
   "I don't know!"

"Three...years?" Xaver absorbed this shock, then shook his head at Ginny, "No, Ginny. I left...to stay, if that makes sense."

"I knew what you had meant when you said those things...I didn't want that life anymore." Xaver leaned against the couch, watching her as he spoke, "I didn't want to be leaving you, anymore, beyond what I absolutely had to. I didn't want... To be away, when you needed me. To be absent, if you called for me. I knew you hated the distance as much as I, and ..I wanted to make it right. I wanted to be with you. Things... just didn't go as easily as I had planned."
He shook his head, turning away from her. Ginny faced him fully, taking a few tentative steps forward. She bit her lip, then spoke quietly, "I missed you...so much. When you left, I thought at first you were simply angry, and you'd show up in a few weeks. When a month passed, I knew you weren't coming back." She shivered, hugging herself tightly, "I tried to contact you..." She reached into a front pocket on her robes and pulled out a long feather, one that had obviously been his, "But nothing worked...I slept even less, to the point of not sleeping. I couldn't move on..." Ginny swallowed, trying not to cry, "I, uh, had many opportunities...but I couldn't move on. Then...I left Hogwarts, and Cody was born...."
Cody. Her angel, her life saver. If it hadn't been for him, Ginny would have ended up going through with her darkest thoughts. She had had many thoughts of simply forgetting about her life, throwing it to the side and entering situations where she would die. She had almost taken on all of her enemies at once. She had thought it the easiest way to die, at least she would have taken some of them with her.
   But Cody had saved her.

"Cody..?" Xaver murmured softly to himself. He looked at her with hungry eyes, and Ginny felt an ache where her heart had once been. Before he'd taken it with him when he left.
He was silent, and Ginny felt a thought move past her to Cody. She didn't catch what it said, didn't really care. She was too busy holding herself together. She watched him, her eyes taking him in and rememorizing everything about him from his dark hair to his blue eyes and soft lips. She wanted to hold him and be held by him.
Xaver held open one arm, an offering for everything she wanted at the moment. She bit her lip, afraid to give in to her instincts and run to him. Afraid to hold him. Afraid to touch him, least he disappear again. Finally, she moved towards him, placing her forehead against his bare shoulder, her arms encircling his neck.
She swallowed her emotions, not wanting to cry, but not succeeding. Tears slid silently down her cheeks as he bowed his head into her hair, then to the curve of her neck. They stood like that for a moment until her picked his head up and kissed the top of hers.
"I, am so sorry Ginny. I'm sorry I've been away for so long...I've missed you so much.." He squeezed her tightly, "I don't know what will happen, baby, but I love you...And I'm truly sorry...."
Ginny's silent tears became outright sobs, and her body shook with the intensity. She said nothing, not trusting herself to say anything. She simply gripped him harder and sobbed, letting her emotions of three years outpour.
After what felt like forever to her, the sobs ceased. She looked up at him, her eyes reddened from her crying, "I love you too. I have always loved you. I never stopped. I couldn't." She reached up, slowly touching his cheek. Her fingers trailed from his cheek to his forehead, then back down to his cheek.
He let go of the couch, leaning against it as he put his hand over hers, grazing it with his fingers. He leaned forward and pressed feather soft kisses along the path of her tears, then pulled back, looking at her. He put one hand in her hair, playing with it, the other on the small of her back, holding her body close to his, yet looking at her with wonder.
-You're even more beautiful than I remember...- He thought softly, before leaning in and pressing his lips against hers in a long kiss.

Nothing had changed, kissing him awoke feelings she hadn't had in three years. Electricity revved up between them, warming their skin and giving them goose bumps at the same time. Ginny shivered, never wanting the kiss to end, but knowing it had to. Still, she closed her eyes in the bliss that was their kiss.
-I'm scared, Xaver.- She told him truthfully. What if he left again?
-I've never been more scared, nor more sure in my life.- He answered, before he pulled back slightly. Ginny opened her eyes, her arms still around him. He smiled at her then.
   "We have... a son."
Ginny nodded and smiled, "Yes. He's three years old, or thereabouts. Your son through and through. A smart aleck...powerful...a genius. I love him more than anything." She paused, looking him in the eyes, "He's what kept me alive when I gave up hope." She looked away then.
Xaver chuckled lowly, "The smart aleck, and perhaps the power...and the wings...might just come from me. But I doubt I passed on a genius gene. That was all you, love." He winked at her, kissing her forehead lightly before he tilted his own head to meet her eyes again.
"Three years old....I've missed so much." He said sadly.
"But...you don't have to miss more." Ginny said, softly, struggling with her words. Now that Xaver was back, would he stay? Or would he back out at the idea of this sudden new responsibility? It was his choice, and no matter what he chose, Ginny would accept it. But she desperately didn't want him to go.

Xaver was silent, and Ginny could swear her heart could be heard throughout the room. A loud thumping noise that was distracting and scary. She swallowed, squeezing her eyes shut in the silence, anxiety creeping in.
'What if he leaves? What if he leaves? What if he leaves? I can't bear it...' Ginny thought quickly, half ready to say something as Xaver's finger hooked under her chin, lifting her head and meeting her eyes. Suddenly, her heart, her thoughts, everything went from ultra loud to silent.
"If you will allow it..." Xaver began, the traces of a smile on his lips, though not quiet evident, "I will remain with you. With you both. And love you, like I have been dreaming of doing not only for the last three years--but since that first time I saw you, and your pretty face in the forest at Hogwarts all those years ago..."
He paused, and Ginny felt her heart stop. Again. His eyes moved over hers and any words she might have said were gone as he continued, "I almost blurted it the last day I say you, and it took me by such surprise I almost seized up...But now?..."
Xaver's finger left her chin, his hand cupping the side of her face for a moment before it fell away, grasping her own hand and squeezing gently, "If there's anything I've learned, while I've been away – it's that there's nothing truly like what I feel.. when I'm with you. I love you, Ginny. And I have never known that so strongly..."
He paused, seemingly to gather himself.
"Would you be mine, love? Would you marry me?"

At his question, Ginny's mouth fell open and for the second time that day she was at loss for words. A rare occurrence for the girl who used words as her weapon when she had none. His eyes traveled to his, inspecting them and their truthfulness. She had not only herself to think of, but also her son.
"Xaver, are you an idiot?" She asked, incredulous, "Of course I'll marry you!"

A week passed, and out of habit, Ginny, Cody, and Xaver stayed at the Burrow. Mainly because she had promised her parents some time with Cody. Nonetheless, she still took him almost everywhere with her. This day was no exception, even though it was extremely cold and a light snow was falling, blanketing everything as the two of them walked through Hogsmead. It made the already ancient looking village look older, as though it had come right out of the pages of a picture book.
Ginny and Cody were bundled up against the cold air, and Cody looked around him in wonder. He couldn't remember snow before this day, and so it seemed like a new experience to him. He pushed his hat up higher, almost off his head in his attempt to make sure it did not fall over his eyes.
"Momma," He looked up at Ginny, his eyes wide with amazement, "it's so pretty!" He giggled happily as he stuck out one gloved hand to catch a few falling flakes.
Ginny smiled at him, "It is." she agreed softly. She nodded her head towards the Three Broomsticks, leading him in that direction, "Lets go and get some hot cocoa." Cody nodded, allowing his mother to steer him towards the pub. Once inside, they attracted a lot of attention, but ignored them all as they took off their winter gear.
Ginny took Cody to the counter, hoisting him up onto a stool easily. She kept one hand on his back to keep him from falling, and leaned on he counter with the other. She smiled at the girl behind the counter, "Two hot cocoas, please."
It wasn't long before Sarah came into the pub and made her way to Ginny, "Hi there Ginny, Cody!" She said, setting a cup of juice down on the counter and smiling at them.
Ginny smiled back, still watching the girl make the cocoas, "Hi Sarah. How are things at work lately?"
Sarah sighed, pushing her hair back, "Not so good. Long hours, and Sirius is never there. I think I might quit." She shrugged, her shoulders slumping tiredly as Sirius walked over, taking a seat. He smiled at Ginny and Cody, but said nothing.
Ginny nodded, "I know what you mean." She said sympathetically as the girl handed her two cups filled with hot cocoa for her and Cody. Cody grabbed his and eagerly tried to sip some.
"Ow! Owowowowww!" he cried out as the hot liquid burned his tongue. He looked up at his mother, smiling sheepishly when she raised an eyebrow at him, "It's hot." He explained, flushing slightly.
Ginny smiled lightly, "Of course it is, angel. It is hot cocoa." Her words were lost as Sirius too began to yell in pain.
"Mine's hot too!" he said, winking at Cody. Ginny rolled her eyes at him, shaking her head slightly. She liked that Sirius was so kind to Cody, it meant a lot to her.
"Here," Ginny said, taking Cody's cup, "let me show you a trick, angel." She took his hand, holding it over the steaming cup and activating his elemental power over ice. A thin sheet of ice appeared on the top of the drink, melting away and cooling it. Cody took a sip and nodded, smiling at his mom.
Sirius pushed his cup towards them, "Cool mine too?" He asked. Ginny shook her head, pushing the cup towards Cody with a small smile.
"Cody, you try it." The boy nodded, placing his hand over the cup and closing his eyes. Unfortuntalty for Sirius,  Cody froze the entire cup solid. When he opened his eyes, he looked crestfallen, and Ginny chuckled lightly.
"Baby, it takes practice." She told him, giving him a quick squeeze around the middle. She quickly reheated the cup, handing it back to Sirius with a small smile as she continued speaking to Cody, "No worries, angel. With practice, you will do better than I."
Sirius sighed, "It's pathetic...here is this little one, no older than five and he's already a better wizard than me."
Ginny winked at Sirius, 'He's three."
"That's even worse!" Sirius said, shaking his head laughing. He looked at Ginny, "Can I take him across the street to get some candy? You can stay here and talk to Sarah."
Cody looked up, his eyes begging, "Please, Momma?"
Ginny hesitated, something didn't feel right. She paused long enough for Cody to look upset before she nodded, "Alright. But wear your hat."

[Extra long to make up for the downtime.]

Cody clapped his hands together, cheering loudly. He grabbed Sirius's hnad, dragging him over to the coat hooks so they could go. Ginny watched them for a moment then looked at Sarah sheepishly.
"How are you holding up?" Sarah asked quietly, smiling at her former teacher.
"Wonderful...it's so scary though." Ginny shook her head, laughing softly, "Me, who's almost dies more then anyone in this room, who faced the devil himself once without blinking in fear, is scared of what will happen next." She frowned, "I'm just worried that now that he's back, he'll leave again. I don't want him to leave again."
   Sarah nodded sympathetically, "I understand..."
Ginny frowned then, "As scared as I am now, I'm even more afraid of his brother, Xences. If he finds out about Cody..." She let the sentence hang, frowning into her cup. If Xences found out about Cody, he's probably kill them both.
"If you ever need a place to stay, my house is always open." Sarah offered gently. Ginny nodded, smiling slightly.
"Thanks. Now where are they with my son?" She looked anxiously at the door, and was completely surprised when a far more manly voice answered her.
"Spoiling him of course," Xaver seemingly appeared from nowhere, and sat beside her after kissing her cheek in greeting, "In the candy shop, of the pathway over." \
"What is he conning them to buy..." She half joked, before standing, "I'm going to check on them." She was anxious, worried. Xaver saw this and stood as well.
"I'll accompany you, love." He said, following her to the door. His thoughts came quickly after his spoken words. --You are worried. What anxiety does harbor in your thoughts?--
--I'm not sure. Something just doesn't feel right.-- Ginny left her coat on the hook, pushing open the door with growing apprehension.

-Ginny, get Cody. It's Him. Xences.-
Ginny was halfway across the street when she felt Xaver's urgent thought enter her mind. Along with it came a swoop of fear in her stomach, enough to make her immediately appeared next to Cody and grab him, reappearing next to Xaver. She knelt, holding Cody close and protectively. She could feel Xaver's anger as the day suddenly seemed to darken.
Cody squirmed in her arms, looking at his father with confusion, "What's wrong?" But the next thing any of them knew, Xaver's hand was up, activating a force field as a large orb of energy came for them. It made impact with force field, making it visible for a moment. Xaver shook it off easily before glancing at Cody.
-Peril, my son. Constant vigilance, be sure.- He looked towards and alley, and the eyes of Ginny and Cody followed.
"Enjoying your time off, brother?" The dark, evil voice sent shivers down Cody's spine, causing him to shudder violently. Ginny faced the alley where Xences voice came from and slowly stood, holding Cody tightly in her arms.  As they watched, a tall, dark haired man appeared. He wore all black, from head to toe, and his short obsidian hair was cropped at odd angles on his head, making the sharpness stand out. He was handsome, in a wicked, evil way, making him far uglier than his twin brother.
His eyes went to Xaver's, watching him. Knowing. They shifted to Ginny and he grinned sadistically as he recognized her. Until his gaze fell upon Cody. he didn't see much, as Xaver stepped in his way, blocking the view partially and calling the attention to himself.
Xences kept his grin, "Dear old Xaver. It's been too long." A wicked rumbled came from his throat, supposedly a laugh. "Or do you go by Lord Xian these days? King Xian?" He bowed low, mocking Xaver, "Always've been much like out own...dearest. Daddy."

"He looks like Daddy..." Cody gripped his mother's shoulder, whispering softly to her. His eyes were wide with fear, and a shiver went through him. Ginny clutched him tighter as he tried to look around Xaver to see better.
"Hush, angel." Ginny calmed him quickly, and Cody nodded, still marveling at the likeness between the twins. Just as he had marveled at the likeness between Xaver and himself a few short weeks ago.
Xences was speaking, his voice an animal like growl, "Patris?" -Father?- His eyes darkened slightly as he tilted his head like an animal seizing up it's prey, "Tui Filius?" -Your son?-
Xaver nodded, once, clenching his jaw, "Rectus." -Yes.- He seemed visibly nervous, "What do you want, Xences?" Xences growled in response, and then was in front of Xaver. He had moved so quickly that no human eyes could follow him, and then grabbed the front of Xaver's shirt, pulling him close.
"Just wondering where you ran off to, brother."
"Let him go, Xences!" Ginny's sudden words were sharp. A command, not a plea. She growled, glaring at Xences with hatred. This was the man that had murdered his own sister. Xaver's sister. Little Kylie.
When Xences didn't let Xaver go, Ginny set Cody down beside her, gripping his hand and clenching her free fist, "Let him go!" she repeated angrily.
Xences turned to her, snarling, "You stay out of this, you senseless, worth--"
"VERY important, it is for your future, that you never finish that sentence, you tainted filth." Xaver interrupted, his words cutting off Xences's completely. Cody's mouth dropped open in shock as he caught the gist of what Xences had been about to say.
"You're mean!" The small child yelled in anger. He scowled darkly, even as both twins turned to look at him. Xaver was half smiling, and Xences was scowling just as darkly as Cody. He jerked Xaver to the side, intending to go towards Cody. Xaver appeared behind him, grabbing his hair roughly and pulling his head back.
"I told you not to follow me. I told you to stay away from Ginny," Xaver kicked Xences legs out, forcing him down, "Stay away from my family, Xences. Or I will take it upon myself to show you the other side of death."
Xences jerked against Xaver's grip, "I'll kill you! I'll kill them! HIM!" He jerked again, flailing about with his magic. Xaver released his hold, and sent Xences spiraling into the wall of a brick building. Xences disappeared as he picked himself up, giving Xaver a last look.
Xaver walked slowly to Cody and scooped him up, cuddling him, "I believe it's time we find some other place to spend out day..." He told Ginny solemnly.

The writing isn't that great *flushes* but it's okay.

It better be good because Ginny I just printed (copying and pasting your paragraphs) all of your stories. the second one is freaking 28 pages.

It wasn't long before the small family arrived in the country, at a small house far away from Hogsmead, and Hogwarts, and London. As they appeared n front of the house, Cody let out a small squeal of happiness. He wiggled from Xaver's arms, running to the door.
"C`mon Daddy! I'll show you my room!" He dragged Xaver through the door, and as they entered the fireplace came alive, and the place instantly warmed up.
Ginny made a small noise, "Cody, hang your coat up before you drag your dad around." She told him, taking off her own coat and hanging it up. Cody took his off as well, but tossed it on the couch and grasped Xaver's hand again eagerly.
"Hold on," Xaver said, chuckling at Cody, "Hold on just a minute. You can show me your room, but hang up your coat like your mother said. First things first, son." Cody sighed and hung up his coat before pulling on Xaver's sleeve again.
"Come onnn Daddy!" He whined. Xaver grinned and looked at Ginny who shrugged.
"Go on. Before he bursts a blood vessel."
Xaver chuckled and grasped Cody's hand, "Let's go then, before the room runs away without us." Cody took him up a small staircase and down the hall a bit, leading him into a very child like room.
It had all the things a child's room has. Millions of toys all over the place, a small half crib bed, a book case. It had so many different colors, it had a dizzying effect if one wasn't used to it. Cody led Xaver to the book case, dropping his hand to pull a stool over. He climbed atop it and pulled down a thick book. He showed it to Xaver with pride.
"This is my memories. It keeps stuff about me in her without me having to write."
Xaver looked at it with interest, "Yeah?" He touched the cover, "I had something like that, when I was younger. Don't think I'll ever want to find mine, let alone read it."
Cody flipped the book open, "Look. It has Momma holding me after I was born." The picture showed Ginny standing in a bare room, holding a small baby wrapped in blankets. His eyes were open, looking at the camera (or whatever it was) with interest. Ginny was glowing with happiness as she held her newborn child, and waved at the camera slightly.
"I don't really remember that. But Momma helps it sometimes," Cody explained quietly. He was starring at the picture and grinning. He enjoyed looking at his pictures, at his life, in this book. He looked at Xaver, surprised to see sadness across his face.
"I missed so much." Xaver said, touching the picture gently. His voice was soft, quiet.

Cody looked up at Xaver, watching him for a long moment. Then he asked the most asked question of all time. "Why?"
"I left.." Xaver began slowly, looking for the right words. "I left to the place where I grew up, with every intention that I'd be back very quickly. A few days, at most... But then a week passed. A week and a day. Two days.. And none of the work I had gone there for to begin with was making sense, let alone being finished.. I hated it. I wanted to go back. I wanted to see your mom.." Xaver blinked awkwardly, and looked to the side. "I remember the next few days, vaguely, but it's mostly a haze, from then.. until the day I came back. I suppose it will come back to me, over time... Though I'm not really sure I want to know, anymore... But that day, we saw each other for the first time.. I hadn't known Ginny was going to have you. You came as a complete surprise.. But the best surprise I could have ever dreamed up."
"Oh.." Cody said, climbing back up on the stool to replace his book. He looked at Xaver with big innocent eyes. "It's okay Daddy.  I was a surprise to Momma too." He paused, his smile glowing, "Momma says I saved her."
Then, suddenly, his eyes grew dark, "Momma is gonna fall."
Instantly, Xaver disappeared from Cody's room, reappearing in the kitchen just in time to catch Ginny from where she was standing on a tipping chair.
"Honestly, love-you're going to kill yourself!" He told her, laughing and holding her tightly.

Ginny had let out a small, startled yell when he grabbed her, and then looked at him with surprise. "What in heaven's name are you talking about?" She raised a hand to her chest, "Just give me a heart attack next time, ok?" She let out a long breath, then gave him a small smile.
"Are you going to let me go?"
"Nope." Xaver nuzzled into Ginny's neck, chuckling. "Cody had an insight that you might fall. I trust his instincts." He kissed her neck, lacing his fingers behind her back to hold her close.
Ginny giggled nervously, flushing pink, "As you well should." She told him, "He's psychic." She looked up at him, surprised at how at ease they were for the moment. Ginny smiled at him, and he smiled back.
"Soup is awesome. But not worth you." He told her.
"You're a flirt." Ginny retorted, smiling slyly. She lifted her arm to encircle his neck, putting her face close to his, "You shouldn't be allowed to talk sometimes."
Xaver grinned, wickedly, "But talking gets me out of trouble." He protested.
"Then you better talk fast, pretty boy." Ginny tilted her head, watching him with great interest. He smirked and playfully shook his head.
"Mmm. No, I'd rather be troublesome." His voice lowered, husky and rich with emotion. He grinned, then kissed her, pulling her even closer. His hand went to her hair, tangling in it as they both enjoyed the warm, raw energy.
The Ginny back away and smirked playfully, "You've gotten bad at kissing." She said, though it was a lie. All's fair in love.
"Care to reteach me then? I've heard old feathered dogs can learn new tricks...better." He leaned against the counter, watching her as she moved around the kitchen getting supper ready. "Give me a break woman! I've been off for a long time!"

Eating dinner was so strange for Ginny. So surreal. It would have seemed normal to an outsider. The young, pretty mom absently instructing her son how to eat. The small boy, swinging his feet back and forth as he slurped up his soup. The handsome, strong father eating the small but respectable meal.
   Normal.
But they weren't. Normal, that is. Ginny had to keep reminding herself. Xaver had been gone three years. This was the first dinner as a family, and their home, that had ever been. This was new, not normal. New, and different. And strange.
But not scary.  What was scary was what came after dinner. After Cody's bath, at bedtime. Ginny took the three year old into the living room, to where Xaver sat on an armchair.
"Say goodnight to your father." Ginny said, setting the boy down. Cody ran over to Xaver, dragging some stuffed animal behind him. He crawled up into Xaver's lap, without even asking and threw his arms around Xaver's neck.
Cody looked at his dad for a moment, then kissed his cheek, "Goodnight, Daddy. I love you."
Three words that sprang Ginny's heart into her chest. The same three words that had made so much heart ache for her. Cody loved Xaver. Expected, of course. Xaver was his dad. But to love Xaver also meant not knowing when he'd leave next.
Xave smiled, hugging Cody back. "I love you too, Cody. Cross my heart." He made an 'X' over his chest with a smile, then ruffled the boy's hair. "You off to bed?"
"Mmmhmm." Cody gave him one last snuggle, then slipped off his lap, walking over to Ginny and clasping her hand. The two of them went to his room, and Ginny knelt by his small bed as he crawled beneath the covers.
"I love you, my little angel." She old him, kissing his forehead. She smoothed his hair as his eyes slowly began to close, then slowly crept out of the toddler's room.
Xaver was waiting at the mouth of the hall. Ginny put a finger to her lips, then led him back to the living room. She sat on the floor, in front of the couch.
"He rarely goes to sleep that easy." She told Xaver as he sat beside her, scooting till their sides touched.
"He's had a long day," Xaver reasoned, "You know how much of a...pest my brother can be."
Ginny nodded, then stood again, restless now, "You thirsty?" She asked, already heading into the kitchen. Xaver shook his head, saying something about drinking too much at dinner.
She came back, starring at him, a glass of water in her hand. Suddenly, she felt uneasy. This was the first time they had been alone since he'd returned. It was uneasy.
What do you say to the guy who you love, who got you pregnant, then went MIA for three years?
She leaned against the wall, watching him as he stood now. "Have we changed so much?" He asked her, his voice quiet and somber.
"I think it's just that...we don't know where to pick up." She sighed, "Where we left off? Can't do that, we have a child. Where we would have been if you hadn't left? Can't do that, because we don't know how things would have been." It was all so distressing.
Xaver watched her for a moment, before speaking again.
"Ginny, being with you again was a dream I didn't ever know could exist again... But with you and Cody? Our son?" He paused, his eyes jumping in the firelight, "Such an idea was, not very long ago, beyond my wildest of dreams. I wouldn't have believed until I saw him, or you again, that it was possible..."
Ginny's stomach did a few flips. She thought about Cody running to Xaver, kissing his cheek. Saying he loved him. She set her glass down, then, a determined look in her eyes as she walked to him. She grasped one of his wrists in both of her small, frail hands.
"I have on request if you are going to stay with Cody and I." She told him, her voice very soft and small. Like a child's. But firm, letting him know this was important.
Xaver looked her in the eyes, taking in the seriousness of the moment, "And that is?"
Ginny looked at his eyes, his beautiful swirling blue eyes. She wasn't just seeing those blue orbs, but his thoughts, his feelings, his soul. She felt like Xaver was an open book to her at the moment, and that's what she needed. Because this was a promise that she needed him to make. Something he would never, ever do. "You must never break his heart."
Xaver was quiet for a moment, "You mean like I broke yours?"
"Yes, like you broke mine." She closed her eyes, swallowing around a giant lump in her throat. Like he had broken hers. Like he had smashed hers.
"You're willing to take that chance? With him? With yourself?" Xaver sounded sad.
"I don't want it to happen again...but if it does, I'll be okay." She paused, "It would devastate him though."
"You can tell me to leave, you know," he said softly. "Tell me to go, and I'll let you raise Cody the superior way you have already begun, into the great man he will one day be. You can tell him whatever you think is best, and I'll not come around to say otherwise....Tell him I was the man I was born to be, supposed to be. And that I went back to that life... Leave out the part of the father I was trying to be. The lover I longed to be, again."
Ginny shook her head, closing her eyes to stop the sudden tears, "No! I don't want you to leave." She took a deep breath, collecting herself, "I just don't want my baby getting hurt."
Xaver took a breath, "I already hurt my baby. Before I even knew I had another one."

((Here's a little more for ya'll.))

Things were going good. Great, actually. When Ginny wasn't going to be home, she left Cody with Xaver. And when Xaver wasn't going to be home, Cody stayed with Ginny. Most nights, all three stayed home and relaxed, enjoying the time they had together.
But once in a while, Ginny actually had something important to tend to. She needed to get her ex husband to sign the divorce papers. He hadn't signed one of the papers. Possibly by accident, though Ginny would know soon enough. She just needed to get a hold of him. The only problem with that, was that he was avoiding her like the plague. But she knew a way to get to him, knew a way to convince him to meet with her.
It was late, and rain was falling onto the already snow covered ground. As Ginny walked down the street towards the Hogshead, she knew it would turn into ice in a mere hour. It was that cold out, and the rain had been coming down all day.
Only an hour ago, Ginny had left thehouse, kissing Cody's forehead and softly explaining to Xaver that she had something to attend to. The two dark haired beings had given her hugs and kisses, telling her to come back when she could.
Her boys. The two people she loved most in this world.
And tonight, she'd have to deal with one of the people she hated most, to be able to deal with someone she hated even more.
"My enemy's enemy is my friend..." She muttered to herself, not really believing it.
She stepped into the old, dusty pub, shaking her head to free the rain from her hair. She didn't bother to hang up her cloak, just let it disappear from her. Her bright red hair reflected off the candle light, catching the interest of many men, mainly on sitting at the bar. He nodded to her and she scowled inwardly as she walked up to the brown haired man. "Mahn." She said in greeting, sitting beside him. He had dark, hair and a tan complexion.
Mahn smiled, his teeth flashing white and sharp in the gloomy light, "Ginny, what a pleasure to see you. And how have you been?" Ginny winced slightly as he spoke, his voice still cutting her nerves after all these years. He noticed with another smile.
   Her pain was with pleasure.
Ginny's eyes quickly scanned over Mahn's body. Checking for weapons, it seemed. She didn't trust him. Ever, never. He hadn't brought any though, so she relaxed slightly.
   "Pleasantries aren't necessary, Mahn."
He laughed out loud, "As usual, you waste no time." He leaned forward, about to say more, when a glass of water spilled into his lap. Mahn jumped from his chair, his face changing. He reached down, grabbing the front of the owner of the glass's shirt. He pulled him to his feet and Ginny recognized the man. Sirius Black. And he appeared to be very drunk.
Ginny frowned, "Don't. It was an accident." She too stood, placing her hand on Mahn's shoulder.
"Ginny!" Sirius slurred, reaching out and putting an arm around her to balance himself. He stumbled, leaning against her heavily. He was looking at her with big eyes, "Wow, your hair! It's...it's so red!"

Someone else, long ago, ""Did I ever tell you that you have red hair? I like red hair. Red hair is different. I'd never seen red hair before I saw you. Did you know that?"

Now, Sirius still leaned against her shoulder, still talking to her. His voice still slurred, and she became embarrassed for him. Even more at his next words.
"I don't know if I ever told you this, Ginny, but you're...you're really very pretty."
Mahn shook his head in disgust, "Perhaps you should take care of your friend." He stood, leaving without waiting for a word from her.
"W-wait!" Ginny yelled after him, too late. She turned to Sirius, highly upset, "Dam.n you!" She cried, "What is your problem lately?! You've been acting so weird around me!"
Sirius pulled away, facinf her even as he waved through the air, "What's wrong with the way I act around you?" He asked, half shouting.
"How do I act, Ginny?" He ran a hand through his hair, "Ya know...ya know, I thought a girl...or woman would realize it when..." He stopped, shaking his head, "Ya know what? Never mind."

Before Ginny could ask what he meant, Sirius turned and stormed out the front door into the rain. Ginny stood there for a moment, then sighed, "If he gets sick..." She muttered, deciding to follow him. She caught up to him and grabbed his wrist, "Come back inside." She said.
"No!" He yelled back sounding like a child. He jerked backwards, slipping on the ice and falling. He closed his eyes and simply lay there. Ginny knelt down over him, holding out her hand to help him up.
"Come on." She said as he stared at her. Just as she began to feel uncomfortable with the way he was looking at her, he took her hand, and she helped him stand up. They stood looking at each other in the rain before she grabbed his wrist, pulling him back towards the pub.
   "I'm an idiot." He muttered.
"It happens. Let's get you some coffee, okay?" They went back into the pub, sitting at a table and ordering coffee. Ginny looked around, raking her fingers through her wet hair. She was still very angry about Mahn leaving, very upset.
When the coffee came, Ginny looked up at Sirius, who was grinning like an idiot. "Drink it." She told him, scowling, "And get the stupid grin off your face."
Sirius, who had begun to sober up now frowned, 'What's your problem?" He asked.
"You made him leave!" Ginny shook her head angrily, "I don't understand you. Ever since you found out IO had a son and that Xaver had come back, you've been acting so weird!"
Sirius looked down at his cp, his cheeks coloring. "Honestly, Ginny. I would have expected a smart girl like you to have figured it out by now."
"Figure out what?" Ginny scowled angrily. So tired was she of his games.
Sirius wiped his mouth, "That I like you!" He blurted out, "God, you think you would have noticed!"
"Huh?" She was confused, his choice of words had little meaning to her, "Of course you like me. We're friends, aren't we--"
She stopped then, staring at him as comprehension dawned upon her features. "Oh." She said simply, "Ohhh...." She didn't know what to say.

((Haha, sorry for the long wait. Simply because you are so patient, I will make sure this is some of my best writing!))

Ginny simply starred at Sirius, her mouth agape. Why...why was he attracted? What kind of signals had she been sending him? Along with her shock, she suddenly felt a little bit guilty. When had she led him on so?
   Sirius just nodded, "Exactly."
Ginny looked down at her cup of coffee, trying to clear her thoughts and make sense of his attraction to her. Finally, she just asked him. "Well, why?"
Sirius raised his eyebrows, leaning forward. "Are you kidding?" He asked her. Upon seeing she wasn't he shook his head, "What's not to like? You're pretty, smart...powerful."
Ginny was still dumbfounded, "For how long?" She pressed.
Sirius paused, as if he were thinking about the question. But Ginny could tell simply by looking that he already knew.
"Since that day in the forest. When I kissed you..." Sirius looked up at her, meeting her eyes. "I saw you there, so upset by Xaver's disappearance. You, the strongest person I'd ever met...I was surprised that the mighty Ginny was devastated by the loss of one man. I wanted to see if, maybe, I could be that man."
Ginny slowly stood from her seat, shaking her head. She scowled darkly, "Sirius, you don't love me. You don't even know what love it." She laid the money on the table for their coffee's and turned, snatching up her cloak. "Bye." She said gruffly, walking out of the pub.
Sirius looked after her, his face saddened. He was sobering up, and just realized that what he had said was stupid. She'd never be the same around him again.

The next day, Ginny paced around the house. Cody watched her as she kept looking up at the clock, shaking her head angrily. Finally, she nodded at Cody.
"Go get your shoes on. We'll go meet him."
Cody jumped up, running to his room to find his sneakers, and Ginny took his place on the couch. Where was Xaver? He'd promised to watch Cody this afternoon,  after a meeting at the Ministry. What was keeping that man?
Well, she'd soon find out. As Cody came from his bedroom, Ginny reached out and pulled him into her arms, instantly transporting the two of them to the Ministry. Within seconds, she sensed Xaver's presence. He was downstairs, in the court room.
Ginny's brow furrowed as she took Cody with her, having him walk beside her as she held his hand. Just  outside the door, she could hear angry voice. Shouting. Ginny scowled, and without another word, kicked the door open. Literally.
She could see Xaver, backed by Sirius, glaring at a rather large mass of people in red. Ginny felt her stomach harden. Each and every person in red hand their wands out. Pointed at Xaver. At her Xaver.
This quick analysis took only a second, and then she stalked into the room, emanating anger as she did so. She and Cody went to Xaver's side. Cody let go of Ginny's hand, putting his arms around Xaver and hugging his legs while Ginny looked at the people in red.
"So you are the reason my husband is late coming home?" Her voice was soft, emotionless. No, they weren't married yet, but they might as well be. Her eyes flashed with anger. Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn, or so the saying goes. "You are the reason he wasn't home to watch our son?"
A frizzy haired woman stepped forward, "We aren't the reason he's a bad parent!," she said, in that shrill voice. "You married ... Him. IT. It is none of our concern if arresting a conniving murderer keeps your half-breed up past his bed-time!!--"
Ginny growled, "My son isn't 'half' anything!"
Xaver frowned at her as well, "I can see your morals are no better than those you choose to convict, anyway. Putting away others to distract curious eyes from yourselves..?"
A man stepped forward, almost toe to toe with Xaver. Xaver stood so Cody was slightly behind him, so that he was between his son and tis man. The man grabbed Xaver's shirtfront, shaking him sightly and raising his wand is if he wanted to curse him. Surprisingly, Xaver made no move to stop him. But he didn't back down, either.
"I can put you in a cell, Xian!"
"You could never get me there." Xaver said, his voice even.
Ginny turned and looked each of the people in red in the eyes, "Listen, all of you. I taught each and everyone of you everything you know. But I didn't teach you everything I know." She looked pointedly at the man holding Xaver's shirt, "I'm sure none of you want to die today."
Then, then man made what would have possibly been his last decision if Cody hadn't been holding Xaver's legs. He raised his wand, "Cruc-"
Xaver's hand shot out, gripping the man's throat. His other hand went around the man's lower jaw, and he picked him up off the ground.
"I warned you. I told you not to speak ill of my son again, did I not?"
The man flailed, crying out, but Xaver held him there as if he were nothing.
"I-" Cody squeezed Xaver's legs tightly, and Xaver came back to reality. He set the man down, and with a soft wave of magic sent him back to the group.
"Just. Leave." And they did. For fear of their own skins.
As the last one left the room, Ginny let out a sigh and knelt down. She gripped Cody by the shoulder's, and smoother his hair. All the anger that had been coming from her disappeared as she looked at her small son.
"Angel, what Daddy and I did was wrong," She told the wide-eyed boy, "You must never attempt to hurt someone. By words, magic, or your hands." As she spoke, Xaver took a few steps away, and then turned to face her.
"They aren't so wrong, are they?" he said darkly. "Had I been a few years younger, than now - I would have killed that ignorant fool. And I would have d.amn well enjoyed the justification. ..Just another bloody f_cking monster they're looking to exterminate. Well, they niking FOUND him, didn't they?!" In his anger, he punched a near-by wooden pillar, causing the wood to shatter.
Cody's hand found Ginny's, and his eyes grew wide. He squeezed her hand tightly, scared by his father's reaction. Ginny however, could only look on sadly. How could she comfort him? He who comforted her in all times. What could she do to help him?
"A degenerate lowlife. Nice, isn't it? Not human? Into a cell, with ya." Xaver shook his head, anger rolling off him.
"One-hundred percent, full-blooded non-human. ...I've never been too proud of my bloodlines, but I've never been ashamed of them, either. Hell, we're only a bunch of raving, sick, conniving, murdering lunatics, right? ..I don't think I've ever felt so related to my brother, until now."
Ginny scowled, picking Cody up as she too stood, "Hey!" She snapped, "That's my son's bloodline! And you are not like Xences."
"AND HE IS DIFFERENT!" Xaver yelled the words, though Ginny knew it was much better than if he had been silent. However, on a different note, Xaver  had never yelled at her before.
"He is DIFFERENT than the rest of..me. Being raised by YOU.." Xaver shook his head as he thought f his twin brother. "Am I so different, sometimes? That's what I'm BEST at. Hell, it was what I was RAISED TO DO. SUPPOSED to do. I am a cold-blooded killer and I am good at it. What kind of King - what kind of FATHER, does that make me? I could care less if that blood-line was never good enough for them.." He waved his hand in the way the others had left.
"Different? No. Xaver, you are wrong. My son-OUR son is not different." She shook her head, "He is exactly like us in so many ways, it scares me to death. In being like us, he is the same as us. He isn't different from me nor you." Cody clenched her shirt, putting his head on his shoulder and watching Xaver closely.
"As for the difference between you and Xences, and what kind of father you are...well, that's for you to decide. I say the day you came back and immediately wanted to be apart of his life, of my life, no questions asked, is the day you became an amazing father." Her anger was back, this time directed at him. He was not as he thought he was, not fully. That was simply one side of him. He was so wonderful, why couldn't he see it?

"I meant-" Xaver began, his voice quiet now. Tiredly, he shook his head. "My decision...always choices. Sometimes I just wish I had the truth." His hand twitched and he looked up at Ginny.
"I've never heard of the 'Crucio' curse, but whomever came up with it should be boiled and chewed."
"The Crutatious Curse? Who used that? It's an illegal curse by our laws." Ginny's eyebrows shot up, her mouth set into a thin line. Her eyes flashed again, but she still didn't move. She didn't mind Xaver's sudden subject change, but she was still weary of his temper right now.
Xaver look at her, then to the door, "The little female who insulted Cody. Mimi...thought I was attacking them." He shook his head, "I was only shrugging."
Ginny locked Mimi's picture in her head. Intending to one day do great harm to the frizzy haired woman. Xaver clenched his fist then, "I know there are many things I don't know, and don't understand about humans.." He looked at the floor. "But am I really so terrifying?"
"No!" Ginny shook her head, "No. You have amazing powers, but you are not terrifying."
"Daddy?" Cody held out his arms to Xaver, smiling. To him it seemed that his real father, the daddy he loved so much, had just stepped into the room. Xaver hesitated and Ginny frowned. What was he afraid of?
"You won't break him. I promise."
Xaver nodded once, and then took Cody from her, holding him close. The boy hugged him tightly, cuddling into his father, happy now that the yelling was over. Ginny nodded, now waking over to Sirius, who stood silently bleeding from his hand. She snatched it up, inspecting his hand carefully.
Xaver continued, ""I do believe we have a problem, however.." he said softly. "Someone approached me, today. From my realm.. All vulgarities and lies.. But he has enough information on me to be able to feign truth, if you understand..."
Ginny spoke to Xaver without looking at him, "I understand. But what does he say you have done?" She pulled out a clean handkerchief and wrapped Sirius's hand in it. "And what does this mean to us?" Ginny asked Xaver, tying off the handkerchief tightly. Automatically, she pushed Sirius's hand to above his heart, holding it there and at the same time, placing two fingers on his wrist to time his pulse. She looked at Xaver while she did this, waiting for an answer.
