A beautiful morning, dawning bright and dewy. A thin mist making the air crisp, even as the sun begins to warm it. Two figures, clad in jeans and t-shirts are at the edge of the forest.
A women of average height and weight, wearing a black shirt with her jeans sits on a fallen log. Her bright red hair is pulled into a taunt ponytail, giving her face a full, childish look. She seems to be about 17 years old, but in reality she is 21. Ginny was smiling, and nodding, "Perfect. Try again."
She spoke to a small boy of about 4 or 5 years. He had obsidian hair, ice blue eyes and pale skin. He was the exact replica of his father, Xaver. He too wore a black shirt, but his had some cartoon character on it. He held a wand, his mothers, in his hand and was moving it, mumbling a spell. Sparks flew from the tip, scorching a tree that stood a few feet away.
"Good job Cody. Now try a healing charm on the tree." Ginny instructed her son quietly. She watched him tilt the wand, twirling it and saying the charm. She watched him with slight melancholy, proud of him for being able to accomplish spells that many 4th years couldn't do, and yet sad that he was growing up so quickly.
Though, he was a Fallen.
The rate of growth for them was different than it was with humans. Cody turned and smiled at her, his young face lighting up as the tree began to heal.
"What next, Mom?" His grin was catching, and Ginny laughed softly.
"Eager to learn, Angel?"
Sarah smiled as she stood there looking at everything that was going on. She had known that her friend was going to be training her child and she could not wait see how she was doing it and if the little one was able to do anything.
Sarah was wearing a black pants and then a gold top. She was sitting in a different tree watching what was going on. She knew that Ginny would be great at teaching Cody what they need to learn. She then knew that Cody would do great at the learning part.
Sarah smiled at the clapped her hands. She stayed hidden in the trees. She was getting out of her house and away from her only daughter crying.
Harry apparated to where Ginny was and smiled. Young Cody was learning at such an early age and he was doing excellent as well.
Cody nodded, twirling the wand in his small fingers, something Ginny had learned from Kiara. "Teach me something else."
Ginny smirked, thinking of basic spells, "How about Protego?" Ginny suggested.
Cody made a face, "The shield charm? What would I need that for, Mom?" He scowled, he didn't want to learn basics.
"For a shield of course, angel." Ginny smiled at him, "You need to know how to defend yourself, love."
"I know how to defend myself, Mom. I don't need a spell to do it!"
Ginny tilted her head, looking at her son for a moment, "What happens if your body can't move?"
Cody folded his arms, "I'll use my mind!"
"And if you can't produce the psychic energy?"
"I...well...." Cody faltered here, unsure, then sighed in defeat.
"Try it."
Harry quietly chuckled to himself. Cody could do difficult spells but not simple spells such as protego...not possible....
Sarah smiled as she stayed sitting in the tree. He was just like her becuase she was one of those people that would love the hard stuff not the simple. She was watching to see what Cody was going to do.
She knew that she missed Ginny training her but she knew that Ginny should help her son.
Cody held the wand up, pointing it towards his mom. "How will we know it works?" He asked,before saying the spell. Ginny reached down, picking up a stone.
"When this gets close enough, say the spell." She told him, before throwing the stone lightly.
Cody focused on the stone, watching it as it came closer to him. A foot or so away, he said, "Protego!" An invisible shield flew up, repelling the stone.
Ginny smiled, "Good job, angel." Not many people did spells on their first try, but Cody was a natural.
Cody was definitely a natural. He had doubted Cody for a second but he could be the youngest Auror at his age by now and the rate he was learning.
Ginny smiled at Cody, "Let's see, you've learned the scorching spell, the shield charm, and a healing charm. I think that's eno0ugh for today, don't you?"
Cody frowned, "I want to learn expelliarmus..." He gave her a slightly begging look.
"No, can't." Ginny shook her head, "You need two wands for that, and you're already using mine."
"Awww..." Cody pouted, slumping over to sit by his mom. He handed the wand he held back to her, watching as she slipped it in her pocket. Ginny ruffled his hair, smiling.
"Honey, cheer up. You'll get your own wand soon enough."
"Why can't I have one now?" Cody asked, putting his elbows on his knees and his chin in his hands.
"You don't really have use for a wand, angel. Whatever would you need one for?"
Cody sighed, "What if someone attacks us when Dad isn't home?"
Ginny chuckled, putting an arm around her small son, "Then I'll take care of them. Besides, only one person has ever come to the house, and he won't be coming back."
Harry looked at them sadly in a way and then saw Sarah sitting in the tree above him.
SArah saw Harry but did not say a word. She was watching Ginny and Cody. She was wanting to just walk them. She how ever waved at him.
Harry waved hello back. He coughed and leaned against the tree to get them to acknowlege his prescence. "Hi Ginny. Hi Cody." He said smiling.
Ginny smiled, looking up, "Hi Harry. How are you?" It had been a while since they saw each other last, even though years ago they had been good friends. Cody smiled, and nodded his head in acknowledgment, but said nothing.
"Why don't you just get him a wand Ginny? I can help Cody go get one," He looked at Ginny and then Cody. "I think he's ready for one."
Ginny's eyes flashed suddenly, and her smile disappeared.
"And I, don't." She told Harry, her voice firm, "He's four years old. Ollivander always recommended wands around 10 years old. Cody will not be receiving one so early simply because he may have the ability."
She didn't like it when people undermined her in front of Cody. Especially when she knew what she was doing was right.
Sarah smiled as she looked at them. She knew that Ginny was mad. Sarah then slipped down and then smiled.
"Ginny's right. She should do what ever she wants with her son."
Harry backed alittle sensing Ginny's anger. "Okay I was just suggesting something..."
"I personally think I've done a great job without suggestions so far." Ginny said, her anger simmering down a bit. She scowled, darkly. She was right. For most of his life, she and Cody had been alone, had had no one to help out. She had raised an intelligent, powerful, strong child so far. Having someone try to step in and trump her annoyed her, at least.
Cody pointedly looked away from the argument, having heard it once before when his Aunt Fleur had tried to tell Ginny how to do something with Cody.
Harry simply nodded in agreement. "Yeah I think you've done a good job with Cody....." He said.
