do you have any idea why? :(
I was going to make a topic like this....mom wouldn't let me. I think it was a stroke don't know exsactly. I started to cry when I heard about it. It's so sad.
Wait I found this at www.imdb.com
Richard Harris 1930-2002
Actor Richard Harris, who most recently starred in the Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 72 at University College Hospital in London. No cause of death was named, though Harris's family said he died peacefully. Recent reports noted that Harris had been undergoing chemotherapy since August after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease, though Harris and his family had been optimistic that he would be able to reprise his role as Professor Albus Dumbledore in the third Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harris's film career took off with the 1963 movie This Sporting Life, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination and made him one of Britain's most sought-after actors. Other notable film roles of the era included Hawaii, Camelot, A Man Called Horse, and The Molly Maguires. Harris was also famous for his offscreen exploits, and was characterized along with Richard Burton, Oliver Reed, and Peter O'Toole as one of Britian's most hedonistic and charismatic leading men in the '60s and '70s, living a life of wine, women, and song (including his Grammy-nominated interpretation of "MacArthur Park"). Harris went on to become an accomplished character actor in the '90s, appearing in supporting roles in Unforgiven, Patriot Games, Gladiator, as well as the Potter films; his role in 1990's The Field garnered him a second Best Actor nomination. Harris was married twice, to Elizabeth Rees and Ann Turkel, and is survived by three children, actors Jamie Harris and Jared Harris and director Damian Harris.
OMG!!!!THATS THATS-thats s-so sad! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :bigcry:wahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!i w-wonder who will replace h-him..... :bigcry:

:bigcry: That is really sad. I already knew, though.:bigcry: You're right Gandlaf would be good but i think :santa: would be good too. g2g ;D
;D Just Kidding ;D
Ok? Whatever.
I found out why. 'Harry Potter's Dumbledore dies of complications from Hodgkin's disease at age 72.'
I found this while looking for desktop wallpaper.
Alrighty, my turn.
They have recasted Dumbledore to the person Chris Columbus origionally wanted to cast as Dumbledore. I don't know his name. But that guy didn't have time for a long term movie making career, so they got Richard Harris. So, the Alfonzo guy looked up the Dumbledore they originally wanted, and he can do the movies now. I hope that he can look not bored during the movie! lol
Ian MacKellan would've made a terrific Dumbledore, but I rather him as Gandalf! ^_^ Did you know he was gay? o.o;
They are saying that ricahrd harris died from cancer. He was able to go through the second and first movie but after the first he wasn't looking well! My user name is pansy, im from liverpool England and I have only really been a fan of the hp books for a year. I have only read them seven times ( a sorry amount compared to you lot probably) and I think that tom Felton (malfoy) looks really good looking in the second movie.
Pansy. :Reading: :snake:
Hey there Pansy! Welcome!
I've only read the books a few times....
In the second movie he sounded really bad. Like he was sick during the making of it.
QuoteI've only read the books a few times....
You need to read Book 4 again, Shui! It's kinda like
Monty Phython and the Holy Grail: the more you watch it, the more you like it. ;D It's just because there's so much there that it gets kinda overwelming and boring. But the once you read it about two times, you get the main things and can start concentrating on the smaller details and it becomes way more enjoyable. :)
Oh yeah, casting for a re-placement for Dumbledore is still unsure! o.O; Quote from
The Leaky CaultronQuoteDumbledore clarifications
This seems to happen now and then with the rumor bandwagon - a tabloid says one weird thing and it gets twisted around, word by word, it until we have "official confirmation" to which no official will comment. So here is a rundown of what we do and do not know about the search for Dumbledore.
- No one has yet been cast.
- The rumors about using Harris' face over his body double's acting are false.
- Christopher Lee has not been approached but has said that he would probably say yes if he were.
- Ian McKellen has not been cast. We have never even heard anything about him being approached - this does not mean he has not been approached, but the reports (including those on his official site) only say that "he will not be playing Dumbledore," and that he's more interested in other Potter roles (Karkaroff? MadEye? Let the speculation begin...). This whole rumor mill was probably started by people's dream casting being thrown about - I know many people would love for McKellen to play Dumbledore and have been vocal about it (myself included, though not on this site). The problem is that some reporter somewhere (coughcough - at a tabloid like The Sun) hears someone say "I wish" and turns it, by magic, into "he will." Then every other press outlet picks up on it without checking any sources and ...it's pretty amazing how it all works. According to Ain't It Cool News it isn't going to happen at all, which is not so surprising, so don't get hyped about McKellen donning another benevolent and powerful wizard's robes any time soon. (And honestly - where does one go after Gandalf?)
We'll find out who it is soon enough. Keep your pointy hats on. :)

Aww, that's too bad. And that last bit was true... ya can't get much better than Gandalf! lol
I wonder who they've cast then... o.o
??? ??? ???
No one yet. o_o Same with Lupin, Sirius, and Peter. But here's something to think about!

QuoteGary Oldman casting rumours
Rumours have abounded the past two days about Gary Oldman being cast in the next 2 movies - we haven't got a peep in the way of confirmation, so keep that in mind, but being cast in the next "2" movies would make him a prime contender for Sirius Black (since Lupin does not appear in the fourth book). And he does have the look for it. Again, rumour, but fans tell us a "revered Gary Oldman fan site" is reporting it. We'll let you know when we know more. In the meantime check out his IMDB profile. (And Melissa has come back and fixed the many typos she made while writing this up. Sorry.)

QuoteMore on the Gary Oldman rumors
We do want to note that another new character in Book 3 who reappears in Book 4 is Peter Pettigrew - again, we have no indication at this point which role, if any, Oldman is being touted for. Some of you are also saying Dumbledore - keep in mind that Oldman is only 45, not a Dumbledore-age.

If they haven't anyone cast, then they aren't shooting the movie...
They are. :) Remember, PoA the movie isn't coming out tell 2004.
They are just taking a while getting the casting together, (hopefully being picky) and after all, it's the beginning of a new year! 8)

In 2004? Eek. That's where they may start to get off in aging.
