Stacey was unusally happy today. She really didn`t know why, she just was. She was walking around the grounds with a bounce in her step. "Hi!" She said as she stepped up to somebody, holding out a daisy for them to take if they wanted.
Holly looked at the flower held out in front of her face. She raised her eyebrows, surprised somebody would just randomly hold out a flower. "Er...hello?" Holly said, taking a very slight step backward. She could smell the daisy. Her sense of smell was outstanding. But Holly found the smell of the flower to be revolting. "Ugh...." Holly mumbled.
Stacey lowered the flower. "Don`t like daisies huh?" Stacey was slightly confused for a moment why Holly wasn`t very happy, then she remembered that every one had different feelings, Blond moment!
Nate was reading a book on a wooden bench near Stacy and Holly. He smiled, amused on how Stacy was acting as he listened to their conversation.
Stacey was looking towards the ground when she caught someone`s thoughts. She turned her head to see a boy sitting on a bench. "It`s not nice to listen in on people`s private conversations. Even though I will admit I have on more than one occasion." She said.
Nate blinked in surprise. He walked towards them," Sorry i didnt know there was a rule about that?" Then he put out his hand,"The names Nate."
"No rule." Stacey answered. "It`s just very rude. I`m Stacey." She said, not bothering to shake his hand.
Nate pulled his hand back and slid it into his pockets. "Okay, i promise i wont ever easedrop on any conversation. Will that make you happy?" He replied, begging for her not to hate him.
Stacey gave him a sly smile. "No, just don`t listen in on MY conversations." She nodded at Holly and started to walk towards the lake, assuming Nate would follow. "And I don`t hate you, you just don`t want to get on my bad side." She said, still smiling.
Nate jogged after her and slowed down as he was step by step even with hers. He smiled," Whys that?"
Stacey stopped walking and looked nate dead in the eyes, her eyes burning red. "You don`t want to know." She said seriuosly, the smile gone from her face. She started to walk again, her eyes turning back to a bright blue.
Nate suddenly had a cold chill run down his spine, making him shiver a little. He put his hand out and locked his fingers around Staceys, causing her to stop. "Wait," he said softly," Im..im sorry i didnt mean to..." his voice slowly stopping as he didnt know what else to say.
Stacey turned and looked at Nate`s hand in hers. His fingers were warm against hers. She slowly looked up to his eyes. "What? It... it was just to scare you into not making me mad." She said with laghter in her voice. Her eyes swirled bright blue.
He looked into her eyes, feeling drowned in them, their beauty and magnificent color. He shook his head out of it, feeling embarassed. He began to blush a light pink," Oh..um, mkay." He shuffled his feet around playfully, his fingers still locked around her small fingers compared to his. He loved the feeling of her hand, pressing against his.
Stacey smiled and blushed, her eyes unable to stay blue turned pink. ((her eys change color with her mood. she can control them, but if she`s feeling a strong emmotion, they change of their own accord)) Stacey slowly started to walk towards the Lake. She, for once, couldn`t think of anything to say.
He put his hands in his pocket feeling embarrassed and as he followed her he looked down at his feet the whole time. Silents can mean bad...but this silence felt different, in a good way.
Stacey finally got her eyes to change back to the blue color they had been before when she reached the Lake. She pursed her lips together, trying to think of something to say. "So, what year are you in?" She asked nervously.
He looked at her still feeling weird. He sat down by the beautiful lake and looked into the water,"Third, and you," he asked even though he already knew the answer.
"You already know." She answered. "You can read my mind, why don`t you?"
He shrugged," Sometimes i just think its an invasion of privacy." He looked at her, how beautiful she looked, his eyes were glued onto her, he wanted badly to tell her how he felt but he chickened out. I just wish i could tell her, he thought sadly to himself.
Stacey sat down at the edge of the Lake and stared into the water. "That`s very polite of you." She said in a quiet voice.
He looked at her, feeling a deep hole in his heart. His stomach clenching, as it always did when he saw her. His face turned a deep red and he shot his head away and looked up into the sky. Feeling a little awkward. He was always slow at making the first move.
She felt him looking at her. She had a way of doing that, knowing when people where looking at her. She turned her head toward him and blinked slowly, her eyes shooting brilliant blue. "What?" She asked in little more than a loud whisper.
Nate looked at her his eyes changing lighter,"Nothing..just you look really beautiful."
Stacey looked at the ground and let her hair fall over her face so he couldn`t see her smile. "That`s... nice of you to say."
Nate shyed away, his voice became more high pitched,"Um..yeah.Im sorry if you feel uncomfortable. I can leave." He said his face turning pink.
Stacey looked up instantly. "You don`t have to go." She said, her eyes gone dark blue.
Nate turned to face her,"Really?" He asked quietly.
"Really." Stacey blushed.
Nate moved closer,"Fine." He looked at her,"What are you thinking?"
"About you." She whispered, blushing a little.
Nate smiled,"Oh yeah?" He looked at her,"Im thinking about you too."
Stacey smiled and looked shyly at her lap.
Nate smiled," You make me feel quicey inside and excited..but then nervous and shy..." he said randomly.
Stacey pursed her lips to hold back a ridiculus smile. She kept her gaze firm on her lap as her cheeks became pinker.
Nate shoved her playfully and smiled," I knew that you would think i was weird."
Stacey smiled and shoved him back. "You know it!"
Nate moved closer step by step,"Well then...at least you know that." He put his hands on her waist and kissed her on the forehead and moved back a step.
Stacey smiled a crooked smile. "What was that for?"
Nate shrugged with a grim smile on his face," I dont know, i just felt like doing it." He added,"Its just part of my weirdness kicking in."
Stacey kept her smile and stepped closer to him again. She gently kissed his cheek.
Nate looked up at her sadly, wishing so much that she loved him the way he loved her. He didnt say anything just sat there staring at her with a slight sad smile on his face. His heart sank as he looked at her but he didnt show it.
Stacey could sense something was wrong, but she didn`t want to ask if it ended up being something that had nothing to do with her.
Nate stayed there in awkward silence and then he said quietly,"Sorry..I cant do this."
Stacey looked down. "Ya know, Nate, we both know how this is gonna end up." She whispered.
He said quietly, just bearily over a whisper,"We might as well end it now..."
Stacey nodded slowly.
Nate said finally understanding,"Okay."
"I guess that`s it then." She said quietly.
Nate came closer to her and kissed her lightly on the cheek,"Bye," he whispered. He took one last glimpse at her and then turned to walk away. He felt sad and depressed but what could he do. nothing.
Stacey gasped silently as Nate kissed her then walked away. She wanted to run after him so badly, but she was frozed to the spot where he had left her. She tried to call out. "Nate." She begged, but her voice came out in a hoarse whisper hardly loud enough for someone to hear.
He thought to himself as he walked off into the forest sad, This is the end.
Stacey colapsed onto the ground; her legs crumpled under her wieght. Her hand flew to her neck and she was breathing heavily. She wasn`t having medical problems, she was in shock. She couldn`t understand what had just happened. Her hands trembled. "Nate." She called out.
Nate jerked his head towards the familiar voice again and noticed that something was wrong. He ran towards her, worried. And kneeled to the ground next to her,"Are you alright," he asked through concerned eyes.
((Took ya a while to relpy, didn`t it? =] ))
Stacey shook her head, her hand tightening into a fist. Her nails dug into her palm and her eyes were slowly getting darker. Both of her arms were trembling violently. Her teeth ground together.
((haha sorry, it didnt show as a new reply so dont blame it on me))
Nate touched her forhead to see if her temperature was up high but he didnt know. He looked at her confused and scared,"What's going on?"
Stacey gasped, pressing her back against a tree. She pulled a short dagger out from her thigh. "Nate... spirit... trying to... attack.." She said between gasps. She held out the dagger and pointed to her arm, still gasping.
Nate shook his head bewildered. He gasped,"I cant Stacey, i dont have the guts."
"Just... poke the end... in... my skin. Then... take it out." She begged, her nails bug into her skin more, her knuckles white.
Nate grasped the handle of the knife and pointed it down towards her skin. He let the tip lay on her arm gently as his hand shook. His heart pounded drastically as he looked at her,"I cant," he said shakily.
Her back arched and her eyes closed. Her jaws and hands were clenched so tightly that it would have cause her physical pain, if she could have felt it. And electric shock went through her body. "Nate... you have to." She choked.
Nate closed his eyes and took in a deep breath and then opened them again with more determination. "Ok, im so sorry if this hurts," he replied forgeting that his weakness is blood and that there was a chance he could end up killing her. He slid the tip of the knife across her arm swiftly but gently as the smell of her blood hit him in the face. He looked away quickly knowing his temptations would take over if he looked.
Stacey gasped again and her back went limp. She fell against the tree, gasping, and her hand was around her arm tightly. Her skin was pale. "Nate... thank you." She whispered. Her eyes were light grey, the farthest they could get from black.
Nate looked at her as she went to the ground. He was sad and didnt know what to do. But he could smell the blood which was stopping him from going over there. He squinted his eyes shut as he tried to force himself to not go over there and drink her dry. He began to shake as he squeezed his hands into tight fists,"I..I cant help you Stacey. I'll kill you if i come over there," he said through crenched teeth as his pointed ones slid out.
"I know, Nate." Stacey said softly. "Thank you, I know how... how..." Her words were cut off by her overwelming powers.
He squinted his eyes not daring to look. "Stacey? Stacey are you alright," he asked worriedly.
Stacey closed her eyes and nodded slowly, forgetting that Nate wasn`t looking at her. Her hand loosened around her arm as the bleeding slowed.
Nate peeked through one eye and tryed hard to not look or think of blood as he immediately went by her side. It took him a moment to speak,"You dont seem alright though."
Stacey took a shaky breath. "I`m fine." She said softly. This had happened once before; some spirit had tried to take over her body, and caused her physical pain. The one thing that helped was causing pain on purpose.
Nate faced his fears and just ignored the sweet smell that her blood smelled like. He picked up her arm gently and turned it slightly to look at how deep the gash was,"Why did you make me do this to you," he whispered in a sad almost angry tone.
Stacey opened her eyes and looked at Nate softly. "Because if you didn`t I would have been taken over by some desperate spirit." Shhe said firmly. "Don`t blame yourself for this, I`ve had worse, and I made you do it, so don`t feel bad."
Nate looked down at her,"I just wish it didnt have to deal with blood, then i wouldn't be so psyched," he confessed.
Stacey slowly closed her eyes and took in a shaky breath. "I`m sorry." I said softly.
Nate looked back up at her,"It's alright," he whispered. "Are you feeling better now?"
Stacey nodded and smiled softly. "Much." She whispered.
"Good." He asked evenly,"Do you think you can walk?" His eyes clearly showing concern.
Stacey nodded, but clenced her jaws together. She stood up shakily, leaning on the tree for support.
Nate put his hand on her elbow, helping her balance her weight. "Maybe you shouldnt walk," he said softly.
Stacey shook her head." I`m fine." She insisted.
Nate studied her, deciding if not she really would be able to walk. "Fine," he said softly.
Stacey started to walk forward, determined to walk herself. Her arms shook as she clenched her hands into fists.
"Why are you so stubborn," he said through curious eyes.
Stacey leaned against a tree, staring at Nate. "What are you so pesimistic?" She asked. "I`ve had better and I`ve had worse. I`m just walking." She snapped.
"And im just telling you that you need to rest but you wont because you want to be independent and have pride. Pssh you really need to stop doing that," he replied sarcastically.
Stacey rolled her eyes, hearing the saracasm in his voice. "Fine. I`ll rest." She gave up.
Nate sighed,"Thankyou!"
Stacey sighed and slowly sat down. She crossed her arms once she was resting with her back against the tree. "Are you going to make me rest every three steps?" She asked. She was only a few feet from where she had started.
Nate smiled,"If thats what we have to do then yes."
Stacey rolled her eyes again. "Well, I think I can go more than three feet at a time." She retorted.
"Okay fine, just dont over do it," he said softly.
Stacey sighed. She knew Nate just didn`t want her to hurt herself, but right now he was over-doing it a little.
He rolled his eyes, knowing what she was thinking. He put his hands in front of her," Just walk."
Stacey took Nate`s hands and pulled herself up. Once she was standing, she started walking shakily towards the school.
Nate placed his hand under her elbow again, supporting some of her weight. He frowned but said nothing as he lifted her body into his hands. "We would make it faster if we went it my way," he replied. He ran, fast before she could escape out of his hands, stubborn as she was. He weaved between trees, holding Stacey against his chest in a strong hold. He moved fast untill they were under the last of the trees and by the school.
Stacey sighed but let Nate take her in his arms. "You know, just because you can run faster doesn`t mean you should show it off." She complained as they ran.
"Well maybe if you werent so clumzy i wouldnt have to," he teased. He stopped by a small canopy of trees by the school. "Do you want me to carry you into the school," he teased
Stacey rolled her eyes. "Do I have a choice?" She said sarcastically.
"Well i guess when you put it that way...nope." He didnt let go of her but looked at her a sparkle in his eye.
Stacey tilted her head. "What?" She asked, seeing the gleam in his eye. Her own eyes shone bright green.
"Oh come on you know you want me to carry you," he teased. "I mean who couldnt resist all this," his eyes sparkling with amusement as he teased her.
There was only a second`s hesitation; Stacey felt a lump form in her throat, but she swallowed it quickly. "Yea sure, it`s every girl`s dream to be carried somewhere by the oh-so-great-Nate after they practically got possessed." She said sarcastically.
Nate tilted his head and looked at her curiously,"Why did you hesitate?"
Stacey rolled her eyes, letting her perfect instinct of lying take over. "Do you think you could think just as fast as you had before after a ghost tried to take over your body?" She asked, taking a shaky step closer to him.
Nate smiled,"True true."
Stacey looked around. "So... are you going to take me to the school so somethin` doesn`t try to attack me again?" She asked, her eyes flickering green.
Nate replied mischievously,"Only if you admit that you like it when i carry you"
Stacey sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine, I like it when you carry me because you are my best friend." She smiled up at him, knowing she didn`t say exactly what he wanted to hear, but she wasn`t about to say something like that when she was going to get married soon.
Nate cringed his face, and teasingly replied,"Now that just hurts. I think you just ripped my heart apart." An smile appearing on his innocent face.
Stacey`s smile fell and her eyes darkened. "Nate, that wasn`t nice." She whispered, looking down at her hands.
Nate held her closely to his chest. "Im sorry that was really sweet of you to say that," he replied sweetly
Stacey gave a small smile, but it didn`t reach her eyes. "You mean it? "She asked in a baby voice.
Nate slid his fingers through her hair, playing with it. "Yes i mean it," he whispered
Stacey froze slowly. She was suddenly perfectly aware of only Nate`s hand through her hair. She shook of the feeling, unfreezing quickly. She hoped he hadn`t noticed.
((wow dis is from a long time ago. lol like when we first met))
Nate moved away. He slid his hand through his dark hair. "Im..im really sorry. I really didnt mean to..." He paused,"Sorry."
((Wow. You shouldn`t have left!))
Stacey sat up quickly, pushing her hair away from her face. "Nate, I`m... I`m so sorry about what I put you through." she said quickly.
((i kno i kno. i will try to get on more often.))
He looked into her eyes and knew she meant it. "Stacey dont be. It would of never worked anyways. Your just my friend who i have had a huge crush on since ive met you. but a crush can disappear sooner or later....mines just a lil later than usual. But please dont blame yourself. It was never your fault." He replied softly
Stacey`s eyes were dark blue, a sad color. "Nate, just... stop. Okay? You`re... not helping." She covered her face with her hands, tears stinging her eyes.
Nate leaned over to see her face. "Why are you crying," he asked softly. His worried gaze peering at her.
Stacey pushed Nate away gently, standing up and walking towards the forest. "Because, Nate, I`m confused." She exclaimed, walking quickly.
Nate ran ahead, stopping in her path. "Stace just dont think so much. Youve already made your choice. Now we are friends, buddies and i dont mind that. So please dont cry."He replied softly. Trying anything in his will to keep her from being sad
"Nate, just stop!" Stacey exclaimed, finally unable to keep the tears in her eyes. They streamed down her cheeks silently. "Just... stay here... and come find me in ten minutes. Okay?" She asked, her voice serious, strained, and a little sad and frustrated.
He looked up at her,"Okay, ten minutes." He walked backwards,"Ill be back." He turned and walked away, leaving her to herself
Stacey watched Nate leave and just stood there for thirty seconds, drying her tears. Then she turned on her heel and ran. It wasn`t a lope or a jog. It was a flat out, long-distance run. She was fast for not using any of her powers to help her along. She just ran, weaving ehr way between trees like she could have done if she was blindflded.
Ten minutes later, she was lying on her stomach deep in the woods, her face dry of tears. Her head was to the side, looking in the opposite way she knew Nate would be coming from. She just... couldn`t deal with him right now, but she knew she would have been pushing it if she asked for more time.
Nate layed against a tree, counting one by one until ten minutes was over. He tried to give her as much time but it kept on getting harder and harder every second. He moved swiftly through the trees, knowing she wasnt in the same spot. He was by her side in a heartbeat. He sat on the ground and picked her up, holding her against his chest. He never said anything, waiting for her to b ready to talk.
Stacey closed her eyes as Nate cradled her against his chest. She felt her hands go up around his neck. Her eyes shifted to a darker color. After a few minutes, she spoke.
"Nate," Her voice was hoarse, "Nate... I`m so sorry. this just isn`t fair for me to make you go through this. I... I love Aiden, I do. More than anything else I`ve ever know. But I love you. It isn`t the same, though. It`s... hard to explain, and I just don`t want to hurt you. And don`t say anything about it being okay because I know it`s not." Her voice broke as she spoke.
"You should hate me. You shouldn`t be doing this for me. You should... never want to see me again." She said, trying to pull away from his arms. Every word she said was true, and she hoped he could tell.
Nate stared down at her. His face serious,"Ok..its not okay. Your right about that part. But Stacey i know that you love Aiden more than me and i accept that. The thing i dont accept is you blaming yourself."
"And i would never hate you so dont ever get that in your head. I love you, but i know you dont love me the same way." His eyes sparkled as he looked up at the sky.
Stacey froze. She just didn`t know what to say to that. She did love Nate, but when he touched her and spoke to her... it was just different than when Aiden did.
She rested her arms around his neck and hugged herself to him. Fresh tears started to pour down her face.
Nate hugged her back, knowing she was crying. He didnt know what to do so he didnt say anything.
Stacey cried solently for a few minutes before whispering in a soft voice, her words breaking every now and then.
"Nate, why don`t you hate me?" She asked him. She turned her head so her eyes met his.
