Stacey sighed and sunk into the big armchair. Her lime green hoodie bunching up at the neck. She rolled two silver rings in her palm. She would have to do it. And someone would have to help her.
"What's going on here?" Asked Sky, sitting in an armchair. She probably wasn't noticed due to her chair sitting in the shadows. She eyed the rings curiously. "Those are really pretty rings. What's the occasion?" She asked quietly.
Stacey closed her fingers around the rings. "Nothing special." She said quietly. No one knew about what she was going through except two people.
Sky looked at her eyes, and sighed. "If you think I'm going to stop asking after that, you're definitely wrong. I can see it in your eyes. Something is troubling you. Either you tell me what it is or tell me to buzz off. Otherwise, I'll keep nagging."
Stacey sighed and her eyes turned a darker shade of grey. "It`s just... to complicated." She stopped, knowing Sky wasn`t a big fan of love drama.
Sky's hardened expression softened. "Stacey...if it's about him, you can talk to me. I know I wasn't so nice about it before and it was because I was going through a tough time. Virgil and I broke up."
Stacey shook her head. "No, I`m over him. It`s someone else, but just as stressful." She said in a low voice.
"Oh...I bet I know who it is." Sky said quietly. She looked around the common room. "You and Nate have been getting along rather well, haven't you?" She said in a whisper with a smirk.
Stacey lifted her right hand so she could see the silver ring on her hand. She had two identical ones on her palm. "Aiden too." She said quietly. She wasn`t extremely close to Sky, but she wanted to tell someone what was going on.
Sky raised her eyebrows, surprised by her answer. "Oh. Really?" She said quietly.
"Yea." Stacey said quietly. "He understands what I`ve been through." She added, not doing a good jo of explaining.
"Oh. I see." She looked at the ground. It was strange. After everything with Virgil, Aiden made Sky feel..warm. Happy. When he spoke to her, he made her problems seem to just...disappear. She couldn't possibly be falling for this boy... . Could she?
Stacey tilted her head. She could feel Sky`s thoughts, she didn`t like them, but she felt them. "I`m sorry about you and Virgil." She said quietly.
Sky bit her lip and closed her eyes with a deep sigh. "What's done is done." She whispered.
"I`m sorry." Stacey said quietly, meaning more than one thing.
"For what?" Sky asked. "You didn't do it. It's my fault." She let her head rest on her hand and stared at the fireplace.
Stacey almost let out a sigh of relief, then she caught herself. She was glad Sky didn`t say anything about the other thing she meant. Stacey put the rings in her pocket and stared at the one on her hand.
Sky smirked. "Obviously, you meant something else." She muttered. "By your sigh."
((Uhm, I forgot, can she read minds?))
Stacey looked at Sky again. "Nothing."
((No. That crap annoys me. But she is rather good at reading peoples' emotions and can tell when they hide something.))
Sky looked back at Stacey. "You're lying." She said simply. She fiddled with a loose string on the couch. "I'm not stupid."
Stacey smiled and recited something an old friend taught her. "I said nothing, but when some people say nothing, they really mean something. But sometimes they don`t mean anything, they`re just saying 'Nothing' to say something. But other times, 'Nothing' doesn`t apply to anything at all." She said quickly. She smiled. "I never said you were stupid." She added.
"But you did mean something.." Sky said. "I know you did."
"Yea, I did." Stacey admitted.
"Then what was it?" Sky asked, really wanting to know.
"Since I know it`s no use lying to you, I was talking about Aiden and you."
"Aiden...and me?" Sky asked, a bit astounded that she would apologize for something like that. "What?"
"Never mind." Stacey said, looking away. Her heart was already torn in two, she didn`t need it torn in thirds.
"No." Sky said seriously. She crossed her arms. "Tell me why." She demanded.
"I said never mind." Stacey repeated, her eyes turning a shade of red. She knew Sky was oder, but she didn`t care.
"Why do you have to keep secrets? Are you seriously mad that I might just like Aiden a little? Does it really bother you!?" She stood up, her eyes glaring down at Stacey.
Stacey looked up at Sky, her eyes getting a littl redder. "Do you know what it`s like to truey love two guys that love yo just as much?" She asked fiercly.
"No!" Sky exclaimed. "I don't! But you can't have both. You have to pick one or none at all. Otherwise, you're just playing games with them."
Tears crepped their way into Stacey`s eyes. "You don`t understand." She said coldly, standing up and starting to walk towards the portrait door.
"I don't understand." Sky repeated. She followed Stacey. "Yeah. Maybe I don't because I'm not you. I don't think like you. I don't feel like you do." She walked passed her, opened the painting, and was about to step through but then turned to look at her. "Just forget I even liked him. He's all yours." She said coldly, then stepped through, closing the painting behind her.
Stacey couldn`t hold back the tears anymore. She put her hands over her face and slid to the floor. Absolutely no one understood her. Every one thought she was some little snob that wanted all of the attention.
Sky could hear the sobs as she pressed her back against the painting, slowly sliding down to the floor. She slammed her hand against the floor because she wanted to cry but couldn't. Stacey seemed to just take the two people that gave her comfort, away. She sighed deeply then sat in silence.
Stacey could feel sky on the other side of the door. It didn`t seem that Sky understood that she could only have Aiden or Nate, not both.
Sky decided to do something truely unlike her. She stood up slowly, and mumbled the password to the painting. She walked in to find Stacey on the floor. She crouched down to her level and looked at the ground. "I'm...I'm sorry." She said quietly.
Stacey slowly looked up at Sky, her eyes weren`t red anymore, but dark blue. "It`s okay." She sniffed. "I understand what it must be like for you." She said, trying to sound nice. She didn`t want to be mad at Sky. "Seems like I`ve done a lot of crying lately." She added quietly.
"Haven't we all." Replied Sky quietly. She sat down and pulled her knees up to her chest, lowering her head and sighing.
"I realy am sorry." Stacey started. "I mean, what I`ve gone through, it`s just been traumatic for me. I can imagine what it must have been like for you."
Sky was silent for a moment. "I've been though..a lot." She whispered. "So I'm sorry I'm more serious than friendly most of the time."
((hehe, sorry for all of the spelling mistakes. I`m at my grandma`s house and her computer is wierd and the keyboard is different.))
"We all are." Stacey replied after a moment. The tears had subsided.
She simply shrugged. "Well...I'm sorry." She said again, really meaning it.
Stacey nodded. "Ya know, I never was really was a good friend of yours, but I think you get me better than Billie."
Sky lifted her head up and ran a hand through her hair. "I wasn't really a good friend either. Can't say I was a friend."
Stacey nodded again. She didn`t really know what to say now, she actually felt slightly uncomfotable.
"But." Sky said. "That can be changed if you want." She looked at Stacey. "Friends?"
Stacey looked at Sky. "Friends." She said a little louder than her previous words.
Sky sighed, relieved. Some stress had been taken off of her shoulders in a way.
Stacey smiled kindly; she was glad herself and Sky had become better friends.
