Jackie was sitting on the bank of the river holding her knees to her chest. She was curled up in a ball and her head was spinning. The trees seemed to point sideways as so many faces flew through her mind, some sweet and some horrible. Some she felt afraid of and some she longed to see.
Her memories flashed back to the dreams she'd had over the past days. The same person. He was everywhere and she couldn't get him out of her head. He could tear her life apart or complete it and he had no idea. But she was to afraid to tell him.
She grabbed a fistful of her blonde hair and tugged, frustrated. A tiny tear rolled down her face and she flicked it away wondering what emotion it could be from. She stopped and jumped up at a noise in the forest.

Nate was walking around and was just planning on thinking..about everything. And then he noticed a figure, he paused taking a step back when he realized who it was. He didnt want to disturb her but then he stepped on twig that layed crookedly on the ground, making a loud crack noise. His eyes turned wide and he smiled at her. He walked over to her, figuring that she already knew he was there,"Hey," he said softly. Sitting by her and then he finally looked at her directly. He asked even more softly,"Whats a matter?"
Jackie almost jumped again when she saw who it was. She let go of he hair she had tangled between her fingers and half smiled back. "Hey." She said softly, then she looked up at him, immediately turning her gaze away again. She slid her toes into the freezing water, pausing for a moment. "Everything." She replied, confusion layering her voice in every syllable.
Nate looked at her with concerned eyes,"Thats harsh. What is exactly "everything" mean?" he asked softly and serenly.
"Everything is my entire world, every person I know. Something is wrong between me and everyone." SHe replied, still gazing at the water as if it were showing her a movie.
Nate moved closer to her, keeping her comfort,"Do you want to talk," he asked softly as he looked at her.
"I-I don't know..." Jackie said softly keeping her eyes on the ground. "I have no idea what to talk about." SHe admitted, finally looking up and almost smiling.
Nate smiled shyly at her,"Its alright, ill just stay here with you until you are ready to leave."
Jackie stared at the ground, but suddenly looked up. "Do you like me or not?" She asked. "I need to know because I don't want to be hurt anymore." She added slowly and softly.
Nate looked up in surprise and then his gaze softened,"I like you, i promise," he said softly. He wanted her and he knew i but he was too scared to tell her.
"Thank you." Jackie said leaning over on his shoulder. "That clears a lot up. And you know, I like you too. A lot." She said blushing and looking at the ground again.
Nate kissed her softly on her cheek,"Yeah? Well thats good cause i really like you alot too."
"Good." Jackie said smiling almost smugly. Her cheek burned hot where he kissed her, but it wasn't at all unpleasant. "That'd really suck if you didn't." She said almost laughing, but wincing as she thought of it.
Nate shook his head, noticing her wince,"No thatd be impossible," he said softly.
Jackie looked down at the ground. "It wasn't impossible a week ago." She muttered to herself, but felt stupid when she realized she said it out loud.
Nate winced and said with a voice that didnt sound like him,"I deserved that."
"No you didn't. That wasn't even supposed to come out of my mouth." Jackie said trying to apologize and make him feel better.
Nate looked up at her,"No i really did deserve that. A week ago i was with," he gulped,"her but that doesnt matter, i like you now. I promise i wont hurt you." His voice serious and his eyes dark with intent.
"Thats all I need to hear." Jackie murmered, looking at the ground again. "I'm sorry I made you think of her. Just forget it, thats in the past." She said sadly, hoping it would stay that way.
Nate read her thoughts,"It will stay that way. and dont be sorry." He hoped she believed him, word for word because he really did.
"I believe you." Jackie murmered and then looked at the water trying to change the subject. "Wanna go for a swim?" She asked, and without waiting for a reply she stood up and jumped in clothes and all.
Nate smiled,"Your crazy..but sure." He took off his t-shirt and dived in headfirst into the water. Popping up next to her as he tredded the water,"I still think your crazy," he whispered to her.
Jackie smiled as her head popped above the water. "You're not the first to say that." She said laughing as she treaded water. Then she took a moment and floated on her back in. "I love the water." SHe murmered.
Nate smiled,"Thats not the only thing you love." He stopped moving his feet porpously and sunk into the liquid water. And then with a small kick off the ground swam back up to appear back in the same spot. He shook his dripping hair and looked back at her.
"You are most definately right there." Jackie said, sinking under the water for a moment and resurfacing behind Nate. "I love water because it's always a mystery." She said smiling.
Nate turned around to face her,"The way your describing water is the way i would describe you," he said with a chuckle.
Jackie raised her eyebrows and smiled mischeviously. "Well, I was just to go on about how, fun, playful, beautiful and dangerous the water can be. I'd say the very last part would fit wuite well." She said, twirling in a circle.
Happiness spreaded over his face as she twirled beautifully,"You think too much of yourself," he teased.
Jackie laughed. "Confidence is a virtue. Also, I'm sure a certain person may agree with me." She said, drifting over toward toward him in the water.
Nate smiled bigly,"Well..i guess you are beautiful, fun, playful, and a "little" dangerous," he admitted. He emphasized the word "little."
Jackie raised her eyebrows. "Little?" She scoffed, almost with disbelief. "I'm starting to wonder if you have any idea who I really am." She said teasing, but a black glint showed in her eye.
Nate looked at her seriously, taking everything that went in seriously. A jolt of pain hit his stomach. "What are you thinking right now," he asked with an even tone.
Jackie's eyes went blank and distant. "The innocent people I've killed." She replied flatly, wincing as she said so. Her mind floated back to that night... She had been mad and they were in the wrong place.
His voice soft and concerned as he said to her,"Its hard isnt it? Killing, i mean." He gulped down the vile taste that appeared out of nowhere,"Ive killed many people, even the ones who tried to help me."
Jackie paused for a moment, making slight ripples in the water as she treaded. "Hm... I suppose I should be afraid of you right now... But I'm not. I know you would never kill me." She said, looking sincere. And truthfully she did not have fear, she was trusting, but sometimes too much so.
He looked at her deeply,"You should be afraid, i wish you could be afraid of me sometimes. It would be much better that way," he whispered as he looked down. He really didnt want her to get hurt, but he knew even if they werent together it would still be the same way, maybe even worse.
"I'm not just saying you wouldn't. I'm also saying you couldn't. I'm quite fast. Not strong, but fast." Jackie said, trying to lighten the mood. "The worst way you could hurt me is by leaving. And I have no fear of that ever happening." She whispered sincerely, swimming to land and climbing out of the water.
"I guess thats true," he whispered. He wasnt for sure if she heard him or not but it didnt matter. He ducked under the water taking a little breath as he went down. And he swam fastly under the water. He popped up to the shore by Jackie and got out. Shaking his dark hair, letting the water droplets go crazy in the air.
Jackie laughed and flinched away from the water droplets. "Stop it!" She said, laughing and holding up her hands. "I thought you were a vampire! Not a dog!" Then she shook her own hair, sending twice as much water flying around.
Nate smiled playfully, putting his hands up to block the flying droplets. "Hmm, i must not be the only dog then," he teased.
"No, I'm a cat." Jackie said smiling playfully. The next minute she was sitting right next to Nate and kissed his cheek. "Cats are fast." She said smiling still.
He pulled her in close to his body. His skin touching hers,"Dogs are strong and lovable,"he whispered. He moved in and kissed her, his lips touching hers.
Jackie kissed him back, wrapping her ams arounf him. For some reason she didn't care that she was soaking wet, or that her hair clung to her face in complete disarray. He was here with her, and she didn't care anymore.
Nate kissed her back for what was a long time but seemed short. He wanted to kiss her forever but he moved a inch away. His eyes a purple black,"I love you," he whispered.
Jackie smiled hugging him tightly. "I love you too." She said, allowing barely any space between them. "You will never have any idea how much I love you."
Nate hugged her, his arms slipped around her waist in an embrace,"Hmm..i might have a glimpse. But i would know better if you showed me rather than telling me," he said smiling mischieviously.
Jackie grinned and leaned in to kiss him again, her lips parted ever so slightly. She kissed him for what seemed like forever before leaning back and looking at him. "Better idea now?" She teased lightly.
He opened his eyes slowly,"Yes, better," he whispered. His heart pounded as he looked at her,"I get the picture now."
Jackie smiled her eyes dancing. "Good." She said almost smugly. Then she stood up. "I'm thirsty. Want to go hunting?" She asked, eagerly. It was obvious how much she wanted to get up and run around.
Nate shook his head speechless for a second. He wasnt that thirsty but he wouldnt mind having a little snack,"Sounds good,"crackidly he said.
Jackie jumped up around, smiling. She had a lot of built up energy. She looked over her shoulder to make sure Nate was following and bolted into the forest.
He sighed and shrugged his shoulders and put on a playful grin. He digged his feet into the now loose dirt and sprinted off towards her,"Ill get you," he yelled after her as he began to get closer and closer to her.
