Alice stood in the forest with her back against a random tree. She wasn`t in the clearing, and she was deep enough in the forest that no moonlight came down between the leaves and reflected off of her eyes. She held a dead flower she had found.
It killed her to see the dead flower; it went along to much with how she felt. Lonely, depressed, and unwanted. She twilrled the stem betwenn her fingers and a few petals fell of. Alice sighed and dropped the flower. It slowly drifted towards the ground before landing softly.
Alice`s jeans scraped the tree as she slid down into a sitting position. She rested her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. She stared off between the dark trees and the darker dark of nothing.
Nate appeared through the dark trees. The moon shining off of his eyes as he kicked the dirt on the ground as he walked. He felt weary and tired but he couldnt sleep. He heard someone breathing as he walked and so he went towards the light noise. "Hey,"he said as he popped out of nowhere, appearing by Alices side.
"Hey," Alice greeted with a smile as she turned to face Nate. She could tell he was tired from his appearence. "What are you doing way out here?" She asked, motioning to the dense trees that were almost impossible to walk between. She shook her head to move a piece of dark hair from her eyes.
Nate smiled with his dule eyes appearing through the darkness,"What vampiers cant go out in the dark and walk around through trees," he teased.
Alice shrugged. "Who knows. But what are you up to? For some reason I doubt you are just out for a stroll." She teased back.
Nate chuckled,"What you dont believe me? Oh come on im trustworthy,"he teased
Alice`s smile grew. "Mabey." She teased. "But then again, I don`t really know you all that well, I suppose I just don`t care if you try to attack me beacasue I know I can beat you."
Nate smiled wryly,"Is that a challenge i hear?" He teased.
Alice pretended to inspect her nails. "Who knows?" She said, her voice unamused.
Nate narrowed his eyes playfully," You may be fast but im strong."
Alice froze, her eyes glaring at Nate, still demanding even without the reflected light bouncing from them. She disappeared. A tree suddenly fell. Alice reappeared. "Satisfied?" She asked with a bored tone. The tree was at least seven feet in diameter, andalice had only disappeared a split second.
Nate looked at her shock,"Ok. Maybe i was wrong." He said nothing more but pursed his lips together.
Alice laughed; the sound was high and sweet, like ringing bells. "Don`t worry, I`m not going to hurt you. You`re just too young to tap into your powers fully." She said sweetly.
Nate narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms,"True i guess." He said stubbornly.
Alice smiled. "Come on, cheer up." In the blink of an eye she was right beside Nate, staring into his eyes. "Or I`ll have to make you smile."
He glared her down, knowing there was no way she could make him smile. He had practiced his whole life to hide emotions when had to,"No way possible," he said stubbornly, his arms still crossed tightly.
Alice`s smile became mischevious. "Then cheer up. And I can read your emmotions, so it wouldn`t do any good to try and hide it." Her eyes gleamed.
Nate stared and thought of nothing after she had said that. He erased his thoughts and tried to think of nothing which half way worked. "No i dont want to," he said in a even toned voice.
"Think of Jackie, the way she smiles, the way she laughes." Alice whispered. Her voice was like a light breeze. "How she holds your hand when you walk together."
Nate closed his eyes and tried to block out what she was saying so she wouldnt win. A grin pulled at the corner of his lips but he didnt smile. He was smiling in the inside but it didnt matter, she wouldnt know,"It didnt work," he said with that still even tone.
Alice laughed again. "I can read your emmotions, ya know." She reminded him.
Nate smiled,"D*mn and i was so close." He uncrossed his arms and slid them in his pant pockets.
Alice smiled. "There`s really no chance of you winning anything against me." She said.
"Ooo im scared!" He teased,"You may be wiser but im nicer."
Alice raised an eyebrow. "Hey, I`m nice." She said sweetly.
Nate rolled his eyes,"Pssh in your dreams"
Alice rolled her eyes. "In your dreams. Remember, I just split a seven-foot-in-diameter tree."
"Doesnt mean your nicer," he sang in a soft voice. He put on a white smile.
Alice smiled sweetly. "Doesn`t mean you`re nicer." She sang back.
His eyes shined with amusement,"I think t does," he said cutely.
Alice was suddenly right next to Nate. "In your dreams." she whispered, locking eyes with him.
Nate looked at her, having a sudden sensation. He shivered as goosebumps appeared on his flesh. He moved a step back, still staring at her. His jaw clenched as he sait nothing.
Alice tilted her head, her eyes full of wonder. "What was that?" She asked, truely interested.
"Nothing," he hissed in a dry voice. Not looking at her gaze, making sure she couldnt see him nor him see her.
"Nate," Alice said gently. "I can feel that something isn`t nothing. Now what is it?" She asked. Her tone was almost apologetic as she spoke.
Nate said nothing for awhile, not wanting to say it. He looked as far away from her as he could as he cleared his voice,"It is really nothing.." he said blankly
Alice gently took Nate`s jaw and turned his head so that he had to look at her. "Please, just tell me. I promise I won`t judge you, or laugh, or anything like that." Her probing eyes locked with his.
Nate blinked and then looked at her, immediatly he shutted his eyes. He said desperately,"I-i uh cant."
Alice gently let go of his jaw and turned around. She walked about ten feet away and sat down on the ground with her back against a tree. She had a chunk of wood in her hand and was carving it with her nails, knowing that the tough wood would do no harm to her apparently soft nails.
She really wanted to know what had happened to Nate; so desperatly that she had to force herself to walk away.
Nate looked down as he stood in the same spot. He didnt think he could tell her, even if he wanted to he wouldnt. It wouldnt be right. So he just stood there for a couple of seconds before he shuffled his feet, walking in her direction. He collapsed on the ground across from her. His eyes laid at his hand as he picked at the grass and breaking it into little pieces. "I can't even if i wanted to," he admitted, his voice cracky as he didnt look up.
Alice`s eyes didn`t leave the piece of wood. "I understand." She managed to whisper. She had to clench her teeth together to keep from saying something else.
Nates mouth began to feel dry,"I..i think i...," he said but never finished the sentence. He was close but he felt he shouldnt, or couldnt say it. He knew it would backfire, in a bad way.
Alice pursed her lips for a moment. "Could you tell me if... if I promised to never tell anyone what you say?" She asked in a soft but hopeful voice.
"I-I dont know," he replied shakily. He didnt know if that would even matter.
Alice nodded and continued to carve the piece of wood.
He looked at the ground with disbelief that he was actually going to say it,"What you did back there..it..it kinda turned me on," He blurted. He blushed and stood up in one fast movement. "Okay there i said it, now can i go before something bad happens," he asked.
Alice suddenly was standing up and blocking Nate`s path. The chunk of wood as still in her hand. "Nate, it`s okay. Why would I think something bad of that?" She asked, confused. Her large eyes searched for some emmotion in his.
Nate shook his head, a strand of dark hair covering one of his eyes. "I dont know but all i know is i cant like you," he said as he thought about Jackie. His eyes flickered a dark color as he felt overwhelmed with twenty different opposite emotions. "I really should go," he said through clenched teeth.
Alice nodded and stepped back, showing that she wouldn`t stop him. She could feel what he was feeling, she understood that he couldn`t like her. Besides, she had Seth.
Nate looked down and raised them up slowly,"Why do i have to have feeling," he whispered desperately to himself.
((Uhm... can you rephrase that?))
((lmao ok ok i will change it in easier words...yeah it doesnt really make sense))
Nate looked down for awhile then raised them, his eyes locking Alice's. He closed his eyes and whispered to himself,"Why do i have to have feelings?" ((like emotions, you know haha))
((lmao))
Alice kindly looked at Nate. "Because you deserve them. If you truely didn`t, thay wouldn`t be here." She said softly.
Nate put on a little smile,"Your not very good at advice." He teased.
Alice wrinkled her nose. "Why not, it`s true."
"It may be true but it sucks majorly," he teased. A little smile froming on his face.
Alice shrugged. "I know better than anyone that the truth can hurt." She pointed out softly.
"Yeah well your advice sucks even more," he pointed out as he teased. A small smile formed on his face
Alice stuck out her tounge. "Well, what did you expect me to say?" She asked.
"To lie," he admitted. "To tell me that everything's alright and things will eventually get better, or something like that."
Alice looked at the ground. "I can`t say something that`s not true like that. Eventually, things will get better, but not as soon as you would like or what you would expect."
"I don't like life," he said gently. "It's too complicated sometimes."
Alice smiled softly and slowly sat down next to Nate. "I know that beter than anyone." She said so softly that only a vampire would have heard her.
Nate turned his head to look directly at her. "You dont give enough credit for yourself," he said quietly.
Alice kept her gaze fixed to the ground. "I don`t have enough credit to give." She breathed.
Nate also looked towards the ground but not in the same place,"You have more than you think."
If vampires could blush, Alice`s cheeks would be scarlet right now. "You don`t know me very well." She said softly.
He replied in a low voice,"I dont have to, i can tell just by looking at you."
Alice kept her eyes on the ground. "Then you haven`t looked long enough." She said softly, even for a vampire. She didn`t mean for her comment to sound like it did.
Nate jerked his head towards her,"You really have know idea," he hissed.
Alice jerked her head up, surprised by Nate`s hiss. "I have no idea about what?" She asked, cofused.
He looked down,"About you. How beautiful and powerful you are. You are the one who doesnt look hard enough," he pointed out. His voice even and smooth as silk.
Alice subtly stopped breathing and narrowed her eyes slightly. "What?" She uttered, taken aback by his unexpected comment. She was glad the sun didn`t make it to the ground in this area; the glittering of her eyes would just make things worse, they always did.
He wanted to move closer to see her expression but he was unable to move. "Oh come on! You cant be that naiive," he almost stuttered in surprise.
Alice shook her head. "I heard what you said, but why did you say it?" She asked.
He looked down, allowing his dark hair to cover his eyes. "I..umm..it's the truth though," he stuttered but didnt answer the question but ignored it.
Alice tilted her head, her eyes getting softer. "Nate," She said softly, "Please tell me." She tilted her head down, not so her hair would cover her eyes, but so she could better make eye-contact with Nate.
He didnt look at her but stood a good distance away from her. Waiting any minute for her to get angry after what he was just about to say. He felt sick to his stomach as he replied,"I like you." He said in a whisper but only loud enough for her to hear.
((What about Jackie.))
Alice closed her eyes and took a slow, unneeded breath. She turned her head away from Nate, her lips pursed. "Have you ever met someone, not a vampire, and you just suddenly felt like you can`t live without them?" For some reason, Alice felt guilty about asking Nate this.
((I dont know...she hasnt been on for awhile...))
Nate thought for awhile. "Yeah. Why?" He still didnt look at her, his eyes layed on the ground.
Alice kept her eyes closed. "They call it Imprintation. And I think I`ve Imprinted someone." She whispered, barely loud enough for even Nate to hear.
A small smile formed,"Good luck unimprinting, it's even trickier. But I understand now," he said softly.
"Nate," Alice whispered again, "I like you, too."
Nate felt a sudden rush of relief but sadness also. He looked into her eyes but stood still,"You know this is complicated," he said softly.
Alice nodded, feeling Nate`s eyes on her. "I know. Very complicated."
"Even more complicated than before," he said softly.
Alice nodded again, but slower. "I know." She repeated.
"....So how did you imprint that dude," he asked curiously.
Alice shook her head. "I have no idea. Stacey just dragged me, Jason, and Seth out and something happened where Stacey got upset so Seth and I left. We were just walking in the snow." She didn`t mention anything about their kiss.
Nate crossed his arms and tilted his head. "I know how an imprint works Alice." He smiled though.
Alice raised her eyebrows, suprised. "Not like that." She said hurridly. They hadn`t done anything like what she thought Nate was thinking.
His eyebrows raised,"I wasnt thinking that
Alice smiled. "I know what you`re thinking." She reminded, tapping her forehead with her fingers.
Nate tilted his head curiously,"Oh really then what was i thinking?"
Alice stuck out her toungue. "You were thinking about that and you know it." She replied smugly.
Nate laughed his velvety laugh,"Well now your just being thingyy."
Alice rolled her eyes. "Then, pray, what where you thinking about?" She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms.
He creased his eyebrows in concentration,"Well now i just dont remember."
Alice laughed loudly, her laugh like the tingle of thousands of bells. "Now that takes talent." She teased.
"yes it does," he replied smoothly
Alice laughed again. She glanced around quickly, just a blur of movement. The trees were darker than they had been earlier, but that didn`t decrease her eyesite. She suddenly felt calm, but she didn`t know why. Glancing back at Nate she thought knew.
Nate looked at her back. "What?" he asked not even noticing anything
Alice shugged. "I dunno." She said, looking to the ground quickly. It wasn`t fair to have to make him a little fling. She loved Seth, but Nate was special, too.
He looked up at her, confused more than ever. "Um...ok."
Alice clenched her teeth together as the wind blew Nate`s scent towards her.
"Are you okay," he asked gently
Alice looked up and nodded. "Yeah, I`m fine. Why?" She asked, tilting her head and brushing her hair out of her reflective eyes.
He shrugged,"I dont know you were just clenching your teeth and looked uncomfortable...
Alice rolled her eyes and leaned against the tree, crossing her arms. "Honestly, you`re the one that has hardly spoken unless spoken to." She pointed out.
He smiled,"Wow smart sentence there." He replied, not even answering her question
Alice raised an eyebrow. "When you`ve lived over two hundred years, you learn." She spit back.
"Smart and wise. Wow impressive," he replied with a bright smile
Alice didn`t smile, she just looked down to the ground, her jaw square and set.
Nate looked at her,"Oh come on i was just kidding."
