Alice sat on the edge of the beach, watching the dark waves come in, then go out. She had her arms wrapped around her knees and she stared blankly out into the water.
Her lips pursed suddenly as she heard approaching footsteps. She didn`t bother to wrap her jacket around her tighter as the wind riped it free.
Seth could see a figure sitting by the lake. It was cold. Even he was cold. He was wearing a thick brown zipper jacket and faded blue jeans. He squinted his eyes and could see somebody very familiar. He walked down to the lake and sat next to her.
"It's a little cold to be sitting by the lake...isn't it?" He knew she was a vampire and didn't mind the chilling temperatures, but he said it anyway.
Alice relaxed and smiled. "Nah, it doesn`t bother me." She said, gently reminding him of her immortality.
"If it`s so cold, why are you out here?"
He smirked.
"I'm a wolf. While I do get cold in my human form, I am especially warm in my wolf form. I was actually getting some fresh air and taking a jog."
Alice smiled, but her eyes were sad. She looked down at the ground, not sure if she wanted to say anything to Seth, yet; if it was to that... extent, yet.
He looked at her eyes. He could feel the sadness in the air, but he could see it surely in her eyes.
"Are you alright?" He asked quietly.
Lavy was walking on the complete opposite side of the lake when she saw two figures on the other side. She considered walking around but it was getting more windy by the second. She took off her jacket and shoes and tossed them behind her into the forest. She stepped into the surprisingly warm water and walked down until only her head was above it.
She took a deep breath and went other, in the direction of the people.
Alice turned her head towards Seth. "I`m fine, why?" She asked, playing along perfectly. She looked out to the water again, seeing Lavy.
"You look sad." He said simply.
Alice shrugged and smiled at him. "How happy can I be?" She asked. A few second slater she realized what she said and looked at the ground again, blushing.
Lavy came out of the water, "You look like your making a hard choice." She corrected.
Seth laid back in the cool, damp grass and stared at the sky.
"A very hard choice.."
Alice chewed the inside of her cheek for a minute. "Something like that." She mumbled.
Seth looked at her.
"Is it me?" He asked curiously.
"No." Alice lied. It was only partially about him, so it was only a partial lie.
"You may be a vampire, but your a lousy liar." He said with a smile.
Alice sighed and stuck out her tounge at Seth. "Okay, it`s partially about you." She gave in.
He said up quickly.
"Well come on then! Don't leave out the details!"
Alice gave Seth a stern but soft look. It was almost... mother-like. "I`d rather not." She mumbled.
Seth gave her a puppy eyed look.
"Pwease?" He said in a squeaky voice.
Alice shook her head, fighting a smile. "Nope. That doesn`t work on me." She really didn`t want to tell Seth what she was thinking, it would be way weird.
Seth sighed. "Fine then." He turned away slowly.
Alice put on a smile. "Oh, come now, don`t you go acting all sad."
Seth shrugged. "I'm not sad. I'm just disappointed that you can't tell me."
"I can tell you," Alice pointed out. "I just don`t want to. What I`m thinking probably would make you sad." Her voice got softer as she spoke her last sentence.
"I can take it." He said seriously. "Just say it. Please?" He asked her.
Alice looked at the ground, her lips pressed together. "I was thinking about how... I am vampire... and you aren`t." She said softly.
"And how...I'm a wolf?" He added. "You live forever...and I don't?" He looked out at the lake. "I guess there are some bumps in the road..." Seth looked at Alice. "Listen. If you want to just stop here. Stop and be friends, I understand."
Alice shook her head. "I don`t care that you`re a wolf, Seth." She said quietly. "And I don`t just want to be your friend."
"Then...what is the problem?" He asked quietly. He didn't want to be pushy, but now he really wanted to know what was going on.
"Nothing." Alice said softly and slowly. She didn`t want to tell Seth, but he really wanted and deserved to know.
Seth sighed and then stood up.
"Fine." He said in the same quiet tone.
"When you decide if you want to tell me, come find me."
He turned and started walking towards the school, his hands shoved in his pockets.
Alice sighed and stood up. She followed him, at his side in a second. "The problem is that I`m going to live for a very long time and you aren`t." She thought her statement was rather bold, they hadn`t known each other for very long, but it had been what she was thinking.
Seth looked at her, stopping in place. He felt awkward and a little sad. He didn't love her yet, but he really liked Alice already. He put his arms on her shoulders.
"Alice..." He said.
"Quit now. Before we get hurt..." He whispered the last sentence.
Alice deliberatly locked eyes with Seth. Her eyes were glassy, even though she would never actually cry. "I don`t want to, Seth. Like I said the other night, you surprised me. I haven`t been surprised in over two-hundred years." She swallowed, a lump forming in her throat.
"I don't want you to get hurt." He said.
"It would kill me."
Alice`s lower lip trembled slightly. "Okay, I know how this is going to sound, but your blood smells... wonderful, okay? And I`m not talking about eating you, I would never do that, but it would cause me physical pain to be separated from you right now. It`s like... your blood was meant for me." She said, her voice lowering slowly.
Seth's stomach felted knotted up. He looked at the ground then back at her. He was at a loss for words.
Alice looked away, her eyes burning. "I`m sorry." She whispered. "I shouldn`t have told you."
"No...I'm glad you did." He said. He pulled her close to him in a warm embrace.
Alice bit her lip as she hugged Seth. "But it makes things... worse." She closed her eyes, afriad of his response.
He pulled away enough to look into her eyes.
"We'll make it work.
He pushed some of her bangs out of her eyes and smiled reassuringly.
Alice nodded, ignoring the fact that the sun was reflecting off of her eyes now that Seth moved her bangs. "I know that." She said softly.
((Crap. I messed up. LET ME EDIT! Just edit your last post lol.))
((I edited it.))
Seth smiled and then let her go.
Alice looked at the ground, her eyes no longer sparkling as her bangs blocked them again. She crossed her arms tightly and didn`t look up.
He looked at her then back at the school. "I'll see you around then?"
Alice pursed her lips and looked up at him. She didn`t really want him to go, but she couldn`t think of anything to do.
"Wait... do you want to play Twenty Questions?" She asked.
"Maybe back at the school. I'm starving." He said.
Alice smiled and nodded. She started towards the school.
