Cody walked downstairs to the main hall wearing a dark sweater. He looked miracously at the place that he had remembered, it looked practically the same. He smiled as he realized he must look like a fool, while several students had passed him with curious eyes. He decided then and there he will most likely be an outsider.
He wasn't hungry for he was a vampier but he tried to fit in so he walked into the large room that was filled with long beautiful tables and chandeliers hanging gracefully above. He sat at the far edge of the table and forcifully nimbled on a piece of bread that to him was unsattisfying. He scrunched up his nose in disgust and put it back on his plate.
Stacey sat down across from the boy, her head tilted. For now, her eyes had settled on a light grey. "Hello." She said softly, glancing down at the bread. All she had to do was open up a sub-concious part of her powers to tell he was a vampire. As a reflex, she turned her arms over so her wrists pressed against the table. She was used to covering her veins as best she could from being around Nate so much.
"I`m Stacey, are you new here?" She asked kindly, her voice soft and high.
Cody looked up slowly, not aware for sure if this girl was talking to him. He blinked. "Um..sorta, i guess. I'm Cody," he replied with a friendly smile. He notticed that the girl was covering her hand and knew why. It wasn't that hard to know he was a vampier. He sighed under his breath.
Stacey kept her head tilted to the side. "Nice to meet you Cody." She said softly. She understood hi sigh immediatly and relaxed her arms, still in a subconcious position. She had seemed to have enough bad luck in her life, she was just used to being carefull that she acted that way without noticing.
"What year are you in?" She asked, trying to start a conversation.
"Thanks," he said softly, talking about her relaxing a bit. He replied to her question,"Um..I kinda missed some years of school but seventh."
Stacey smiled softly, her eyes brightining slightly. She nodded as she replied. "I`m a fifth year." She answered simply.
Cody nodded,"That's cool." He rested his elbows on the table crossed weirdly as his hands layed against his pale flesh. He wasn't very good at making small talk but he tried with a little effort. "So, I bet you have a boyfriend right," he smiled as he guessed.
Staey couldn`t help but give a sideways grin as she recognized the familiar weirdness of a vampire trying to make small talk; she had witnessed it often enough. "Actually," She said, staring to answer him, holding up her left hand, "I`m engaged."
Cody raised his eyebrows,"I was close. Well congradulations."
Stacey gave a crooked smile. "Thanks." She said. She was only slightly surprised by Cody`s reaction; she was only fifteen and engaged, but she had been surprised by vampires many times before. "What about you?" She asked, puttting her elbows on the table.
"Hmm once almost got engaged, chickened out and lost the girl forever. But i'm not looking for anyone right now," he said casually as if this topic was brought up alot.
Stacey nodded and twisted her neck, making it pop. "How long have you been a vampire?" She asked. She knew Alice was over two hundred years old and Nate was rather young, but she didn`t know about anyone else.
He paused,"I turned one hundred and thirty not too long ago. What about you? How old are you?" He asked curiously.
Stacey didn`t respond right away; it seemed as if she had forgotten how old she was, but she was really just thinking about other things. "Seventeen." She said softly. She still couldn`t beileve she would be getting married in four months.
