Usually, small boys didn't wonder in the forest. It was a dangerous place for actual students, let alone a small five year old boy. But Cody wasn't a usual boy. Hell, he wasn't even human really. Not to mention who his parents were. His mother had ruled the forest years ago, and her old alliances remembered her son.
He was in less danger than the most powerful student at the school.
Which was exactly why the blue eyed, black haired boy sat in a forest clearing reading a book that seemed half his size. The words on the pages were not in English, but rather Italian. He turned the pages much more swiftly than any child should be able to, reading quickly and intently.
Finally he came to a page where he made a face. Seemingly annoyed with the words in front of him, he slammed the large book closed and threw it in the dirt beside him. He lay back, his arms behind his head and closed his eyes, mumbling to himself about angels, dæmons, and humans.
"You shouldn't throw a book. No matter how ridiculous it is." Sky said.
She stood right beside the spot where the book was thrown and bent down to pick it up. She wiped it off and looked at the title. It was in italian. Sky smiled and slowly walked over to the boy, the sticks beneath her feet crunching and snapping. She held the book out to him.
"Don't you want this?" She asked him quietly.
Stacey slowly and silently walked through the dense shadows. She knew that the forest was off-limits to students, but she had been through the trees so many times that they were almost familiar. She watchedCody throw the book and Sky pick it up. She couldn`t help but smile as she saw it was Italian through Sky`s thoughts.
"You of all people should know that." She said softly, stepping out from the shadows.
"No, I do not want the stupid book!" Cody's usually controlled voice was throaty in his obvious frustration. He had wasted his time with this book, and he had precious little time to waste. It was only once a week his grandmother went shopping, and he couldn't always run off on her.
She'd worry too much, and he did love his grandma.
"It's a waste of my time, of everyone's time. The stupid thing shouldn't have ever been written." Cody opened his eyes, glaring at the book as if he might like to set it on fire or do something similar to destroy it. But Sky was still holding it, and he wouldn't even want to come close to harming her. She was a friend.
That didn't stop his tantrum though, "No information at all! Every other word you see, "no one knows for sure" or "we think". Stupid humans and their stupid fear of writing the truth!"
Sky looked down at the book, holding it firmly with both of her hands, scanning the cover. She wished that she knew what to say, but the boy was right. Humans were stupid. They feared the truth and welcomes lies. The fact that the book was Italian hadn't made it any easier either. She had read a lot of books in her time and hoped maybe that she would be able to help explain a little, but she had no clue. So all she could really say was...
"You're right Cody."
Sky's simple words seemed to defuse Cody's anger, and he sighed, closing his eyes again.
"I know I'm right." His face had a strange expression, made even stranger by the fact he was on his back.
"It's not just humans though. It's everything with a mind. The mind that strives to know more, yet is terrified it may not like what it finds. How did my mom even find anything out!"
He was duplicating Ginny's research of over five years ago. The frenzied reading and looking that she had done on countless sleepless nights after Xaver had dissappeared. The research she had continued well after Cody was born, yet not so frenzied. He wanted to know something and was either afraid to ask his parents, or afraid they didn't know the answer.
Sky sighed a deep yet quiet sigh and sat down beside the blue eyed boy, the book resting in her lap. Her fingers tapped against the book as she watched the trees and the animals hiding behind them.
"Every creature ever made has it's flaws." She finally said, her eye on a hawk. "And they all have their fears. I think everyone fears knowledge in some way or another." She looked at Cody with a warm smile. "Your mother is a smart lady Cody. She can figure anything out." Perhaps not necessarily anything, but Ginny was smart and probably could.
Stacey gave an almost silent sigh and sat cross-legged about a foot to Cody`s side. "Exactly." She agreed, "But not everyone can be perfect. Not anything can be perfect. Every single living organism in the entire universe will eventually make some mistake."
Her eyes glimmered a soft grey, the grey of a kitten`s warm fur or a pebble worn smooth by a stream. A slight breeze blew her hair over ehr shoulders as she examined Cody, trying to find something to say to the intelligent boy.
"You are not imperfect because you made a mistake."
Cody's voice was strained, tense like a guitar string ready to break. His brow had a small furrow it it, then completely cleared. He was masking all emotions on his face, turning it blank in order to keep people from guessing how he felt. No one could read his mind, he was fully protected by Ginny.
But now he was thinking of Meliody, his newborn sister. To him, she embodied perfection, and somehow he knew she always would. As long as she attempted to do good, her actions would be perfect.
"You become imperfect when you let an outside force control your actions to do what is right."
His voice was no longer tense, and instead was back to the soft tone that indicated he knew more than he let on. About everything.
Sky was quiet. Her eyes wandered as she thought. She finally set the book on the ground and turned to Cody.
"Is there something you want to discuss Cody?" She asked softly.
((Short post lol. I'm so tired..))
"I need to find a way to protect my sister."
No one knew yet that his baby sister had been born, except for his grandparents. Ginny and Xaver had wanted it to be kept quiet for a while. Just long enough to get settled and then they would let everyone know. They didn't want a million visitors at the moment.
Cody had just let out the secret. But it wasn't a big deal.
"My uncle...he's going to try and hurt us. My sister and I. I can't let him do that. He killed Kylie just to anger my dad. His own sister...what is to stop him from trying to kill me and Meliody."
Cody looked determined, "He promised he would kill me. And my mom. Once he finds out about Meliody..."
Sky sighed deeply and then looked at Stacey befoe looking back at Cody. So his sister had been born. And Sky could see how much Cody cared for her. He was the big brother now. She put a hand on Cody's shoulder.
"Cody, I promise that nobody will hurt you or your mother. Not even your sister." Though Sky felt bad for saying that. Who was she to promise something like that? She wasn't a psychic. She couldn't foresee the future. But she seen Cody like a little brother to her. She wanted to protect him. Her hand gently lifted from his shoulder.
"Your Mother has taught us a lot at school. She's taught us how to defend...how to fight." She paused for a moment, thinking.
"The students at Hogwarts will protect you Cody. I will. I know Stacey will. We've got plenty of people to keep you all safe." But this was another promise that proved to be difficult. They were only teenagers. Cody's uncle would surely over power them in a heartbeat.
But still....
Stacey leaned closer to Sky, nodded quickly in agreement. "We`ll do whatever we can to help." She looked down at her hands for a moment, her eyes getting sightly darker for a moment. "Your mother has taught me a lot, more than other students at most times because of my... the voices." Her voice got softer as she went on, but now she cleared her throat and looked up again, her eyes bright.
"After all, just because someone is after your family doesn`t mean that will be done easily." She said, smiling a little.
"Xences Xian is not like anything you've ever faced."
Cody couldn't help it, he giggled. It wasn't a giggle of happiness, more like a giggle of madness. Craziness. He kept his eyes closed, his face turning into a deep frown. He was silent for a moment.
"You will do well to be cautious. He is far more dangerous than you could possibly imagine. He has no qualms about killing innocents. He killed his own sister, after all..."
Cody's eyes opened half way, but he looked past the girls and at the sky. His jaw was tense, his eyes intent.
"Uncle Xences is one of the few people in this world that my mother fears and that my father is weary of."
The way he called him uncle was not an endearment. It was only Cody's way of reminding himself that he could just as easily follow that route. It was in his blood.
Sky knew that Xences was dangerous. If he really wanted to, he could probably tear her into shreds. She stared at Cody with confused eyes. His fit of giggles was so...so odd. So unlike him. It was a crazy giggle. But then the giggling stopped and he was left with a frown upon his face.
"I will be cautious." Sky finally said. "But like I said, I will protect you. All of you." But while saying this, Sky felt rather stupid. Who could she protect? Cody was stronger than she was. She couldn't read minds let alone control an element. She was just Sky. Plain ol' Sky. And then again...it was just something she wanted to do. She felt like she should do it. With Cody like a little brother to her, it was like an instinct in a way. The natural protection instinct.
"You will try, Miss Sky." Cody's muttered words were not meant to sound as harsh as they did. "Focus more on protecting yourself from him."
Cody's eyes narrowed as he looked above him, zeroing in on a lone bird flying high. Suddenly he was up on his feet, pulling his hoodie off over his head and tossing it to the side. Underneath he wore one of his play shirts, which had large slits in the back for his suddenly appearing wings. The black feathered entities spread out from his shoulder blades, stretching their full impressive length.
He took a running start and jumped, pushing his wings downwards and lifting into the air.
He flew as high as he possibly could, until the altitude made his lungs weak and his eyes stung from the pressure and wind. Then he cut into an impressive dive, stopping only twenty or so feet from the ground before he landed, running to keep his balance as his feet hit the ground. He was smiling.
Flying always cleared his head.
"Chances are, Miss Sky, you won't even know when he makes an appearance."
Thalia crept catiosly in the woods"GOD HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!" She cried, as a centor moved in for a kill. You see Thalia was now of age, witch means the centors would not feel bad for her if she was killed. Then ,what Thalia saw as an angel, swoped in an killed it.The angel,as Thalia thought, was actualy a baby unicorn with its mother."Thank you." Thalia blessed them and ran away.
(please don't yell at me if this was the wrong thing to say)
((I hope you don't think anyone is trying to yell at you. We just want to give you some guidance. You're a good writer, but you've got to understand the ways of an RP. Just ask me, and I'll help.))
