Messages - Luke Forlity

#1
(Sorry about my absense! I hope it's okay that I just pick this up where we left off?)

Luke was about to reply to her, when all of a sudden she was running around him.  He felt everything she was doing in such quick succession that it seemed it was all happening at the same time.  He was trying to pinpoint where she was, exactly, when he felt her hit the back of his knee.  He fell forward onto his knees, and nearly face-planted into the cold, hard ground.

For a while he just stayed on the ground, laughing.  Finally he pushed himself up and dusted himself off.  He looked at Jackie and chuckled.

"Now that last one was a little unnecessary."

(Sorry for my absence! I hope it's alright if we just pick this up where we left off?)

Luke wasn't used to being attacked by so many things at once.  His shield deflected only one or two lightning bolts before it had him out of breath and sweating.  He could hardly stand, and felt light headed.  Hoping that the lightning bolts were harmless, Luke let the shield crumble, and he fell to the ground, panting.

When he had enough breath he said, "I suppose... it's more of a lack of energy thing for me... is that... normal?"

He listened to everything that Albus had said, turning it over in his mind.  "Yeah, I think I can understand that, but what if I don't have enough energy to gather all of that power inside of me?"

Luke felt tired, but his strength was slowly coming back to him.  This hadn't happened in a while, and had become less frequent the more he practiced with his powers.  His elemental powers seemed to grow so easily, so what was wrong with his wand abilities?

Luke watched the girl, puzzled.  She was a very interesting character, and seemed to be one that you could watch for hours without ever getting bored.   As she twirled the flaming branch, Luke shook his head.  She was definitely a show-off.

"I'm Luke.  I just transferred here as well, so I don't know many people!"  He chuckled slightly and smiled at her, knowing they were in the same situation friendship wise.

Luke followed her, jogging slightly.  He hadn't been into the forest much, and was really hoping that Jackie knew where she was going.

Luke rolled his eyes.  Who did Jackie think he was? "Actually, I'm pretty fast on my own! Plus, not only would a piggyback be ungraceful, but it would be slower too!"

He smiled to himself, glad that he had proven her wrong... or so he thought.  He shivered and glanced at her absurd outfit.  "Aren't you cold?"

Luke smiled as Jackie blushed and hid her face amongst her hair.  He chuckled again at her tone.  He knew that she was serious, but for some reason, it still made him laugh.

When Jackie stood up and left, Luke grabbed his drink, downing the rest of it.  He tossed a tip onto the counter and dashed out after Jackie.  He caught up with her quickly, but she wasn't going very fast.

"So where are we headed?" He asked, zipping up his jacket.

Luke smiled slightly, "Jackie... you don't have anything to be sorry for.  Everyone needs someone to listen every once and a while, or a shoulder to cry on!  I just happened to be the one."

Luke noticed the obvious subject change, but didn't mention it.  He realized that it must be hard for her to think about it too much.  If someone had done that to him, he would want to forget about it.

"Not too much, actually... they're immortal, obviously. Sharp teeth, carnivores..."  Luke stared off into space as he tried to think of more facts.  Then he looked right at Jackie and said, "I also know that they tend to be extremely beautiful."

Luke frowned.  That laugh was too fake... it was as though Jackie didn't even care enough to pretend.  Had he said something wrong? He was only trying to be nice.

"Oh, him... I feel like I know him already!"  Luke smiled.  "But I'm sure he's a really great guy. I'd like to meet him one day..."

As Luke trailed off, he thought about her being a vampire.  "You know, the fact that you're e vampire doesn't really surprise me... it seems as though almost everyone here is immortal, or an animagus... hardly anyone is just a wizard."

Luke shrugged, having forgotten that detail.  At least she remembered, otherwise it could have ended badly. He watched her create the ball, and was ready when she threw it.

It bounced directly off the shield, not bending or warping it at all.  It flew back toward Stacey with the same amount of force with which she had thrown it.  He took a deep breath, still prepared for anything else to come at him.

Luke watched his bird, but when Stacey made her's, his dissolved in insignificance.  He smiled as the phoenix landed on his shoulder.  He watched it disappear, and then faced Stacey, still smiling.

"I can make a shield, but it doesn't stay for long, and can only keep out one or two people at a time."  He said, shrugging.  He raised his hands preparing himself for the job ahead.

Luke closed his eyes and began to slow his breathing. When he opened his eyes, fire began to pour out from his palms.  It flowed straight to the ground at his feet, forming a tight circle around him.  Once that small circle was complete, Luke raised his hands and pushed the circle outward, continuously adding more fir to it so that it wouldn't stretch thin.

When he had determined that the circle was big enough, the fire stopped flowing from his hands.  The circle stopped growing.  He continued to breath deeply.

"Try to get in." He said softly.

Luke smiled as she realized that she had transported.  He couldn't transport very well if that was all he was concentrating on, but couldn't imagine doing it without conscious thought.

He nodded, "Yes, I can make animals.  Controlling them is what I have difficulty with.  I can only successfully control one animal... a bird."

He quickly made his bird out of fire, and had it fly to Stacey.  He smiled as it sang, loving his own creation.

Luke watched her, closely.  The only difference was the color of her eyes.  He smiled at her and watched the flame lick at his arm.  When she was finished, Luke itched his arm.  The feeling had been strange, but not bad.

Luke walked over to Stacey, a flame already glowing on his hand.  He put his hand palm up, under her chin. It was close to, but not touching her.  The flame grew bigger and it licked around her eyes and nose.  Luke's eyes never left her's.  His flame was doing everything that her's had been, but on more sensitive skin.  She would surely feel the warmth.

Luke curled his hand quickly into a fist and the flame disappeared.

"The answer to your question is yes, I can do that.  Just not the transporting at the end."

Luke's eyes flicked between the three of them.  He watched their expressions and tones carefully, picking up what he could.  There was lots of tension between them, for whatever reason.  It seemed as though the girl had caused most of it, but what had she done?

He sat silently, observing.  He sipped his drink, always keeping his eyes on the three of them.

((I'm all for it! I'm deleting my post after I reply right now!))

Luke nodded at Albus, smiling. He then turned and looked at Stacey.  He watch her roll a flame between her fingers, and after even just seeing the flame, a similar one appeared in his own hands.

"You want to see something cool?  Alright... I'll give you cool.  Or should I say hot?"  He chuckled at his joke and stuffed his wand into his pocket.

Luke looked down at the small flame in his hand.  He then moved his hand away, but the flame stayed where it was.  He put his hands up, palms facing the flame.  He took a deep breath, and as he stood there, the flame began to grow.  Soon it was a fairly large sphere floating midair.

Luke tapped his foot to an unheard beat.  The sphere began to pulse to the same beat.  Then he put his hands down, and stopped tapping his foot.  The sphere exploded, lighting everthing on fire, including Luke.  It wasn't hot though.

As the trees burned and crackled, Luke looked around, pleased with himself.  Then he snapped his fingers and the flame repeated everything that it had just done, reversed.  Once more, Luke held a simple flame in his hand.  There weren't even burn marks on the trees.

The Three Broomsticks / Re: A New Occupation

((Okay, to everyone who has been following my bio, I'm not actually a vampire, just a normal wizard... I'm working on changing it right now, but if we could just leave my past out of this thread until my history is complete, that would be great.))

Luke heard a large crash behind him.  He turned and saw a girl on the ground surrounded by books.  He didn't quite realize what had happened, so he just watched as Stacey helped her.  He knew he should probably help too, but he didn't know the girl and it looked as though Stacey had it under control.

"Hi there! My name is Luke!"  He held out his hand for her to shake it, smiling,

Luke watched Jackie's face as she processed what he had just said.  He was never very good at reading people faces, but it wasn't hard to guess what Jackie was thinking in this moment.  He stayed silent, giving her this time to think.  He watched her face flush scarlet and it brought a small smile to his lips.

He met her gaze and said, "I haven't met Nate, no.  However, I haven't met a lot of people at this school yet, so that's not surprising... Why do you ask?"
