I happily embrace all sorts of dirt, Howevcer, I am not a dirtologist.  lol

Dirt is here for us to play in.  The dirtier we become, the more fun we're having.  That's my opinion anyhow.  At the end of each day, we can wash it off then start over the next day!!!  WEEEEEEE!!!!!

i said potting soil, because:

1) no worms
2) not too dry
3) doesn't stick to the bottom of your shoes as easily as mud....

Yes Isis, however, potting soil is a very rich soil which means, itchy.  I find the closer to peet-moss one gets, the itchier one becomes.  lol, trus me, I know, my place is a gardeners dream!  the top soil is what is known as peet-moss, VERY rich almost black soil.  lol
