Chapter One:  Castle in The Stars

Voices echoed in her mind.

"She's not coming back is she"?

"Mom..."

No!"

"I love you..."

This last was Max.  This one she could distinguish over al the others. Then the voices faded.

"Kiara, Kiara come on, wake up."

She couldn't seem to place the voice at first.  It kind of mixed with the rest.

"Kiara..."

Kiara's lips spread in a smile.  She knew that voice now  It pushed the rest completely away.

"Hi."  She said as she felt his lips against her cheek.

"Aren't you going to open your eyes?"

She opened them to find Evan smiling down at her.

She looked around.  The whole room was white.  Not just painted white but constructed from some, unknown matter that glowed a bluish-white.

There was no furniture, save for the bed she lies on now.  She ran her hand over the flimsy, silken, sheet covering her.

"How long have I been sleeping?"

"Only a short time, you only just arrived a few moments ago."  Evan replied, although he looked extremely happy to see her, his voice told the truth to his feelings.

Kiara sat up, letting the covers slide down to her lap.  Se looked down, bringing her hand to her chest where, at her last recollection, the Soul reaper had been sticking out.

"He pulled it out of your chest, before it could take you.  You'll be able to go back to your life, when the time is right."

"Evan, don't be so hateful, it's really unbecoming of you.  I love Max, my life is with him, and I know that now.  Even my dreams are not, with out him beside me.  You must be able to understand that."

Evan let out a short half laugh

Kiara Johnson

"Kiara, I know, but for now, you're with me, get up, I've many things to show you."

Kiara smiled; glad he wouldn't be brooding over her decision, at least not in front of her. Then, she tossed her covers aside and threw her legs over the side of the bed.  However, before she stood, she pulled the front of her white linen gown forward and looked down.  A smile spread across her lips then she stood.

"There's no scare.  Why?"  Kiara asked as she let her top fall back into place.

Evan laughed again, this time it was a full-hearted laugh.

"Your human concerns are really quite amusing Kiara.  There is no scare because you, for the time, are an angel.  Have you bothered to check out your new set of wings?"  He smiled.

Kiara turned her head and stretched the wings at the same time.  She smiled oddly at her new, feather-like, white angel wings.

"They are...nice."

"Nice?  They look perfect on you.  You should have.... Lets go"  Evan smiled.  Not finishing what he wanted to say, knowing she wouldn't want to hear it.

Instead of pushing it, Kiara took his offered hand and fallowed him out of the room and into a hall, a huge, white hall.  There seemed to be no one but them about, if she had been wearing shoes, she was sure that her foot steps would sound like those of an elephant walking on marble ion a vast plain.

She looked up at the vaulted ceiling, the buttresses curved in an arch over there heads.  There seemed to be no need for lights, as the same, bluish-white matter was evident through out the entire construction of the building.

"How do you sleep when it's always so, bright in here?"  Kiara asked.

"I don't, I've no need to sleep, I'm dead."  Evan replied.

He sounded surprised that she'd even ask such a question; his answer was so totally in an offhand manner that Kiara couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm sorry Evan, I don't mean to laugh but you make it seem as though I should have realized that when in fact, you are no more dead to me than I am to you."

Evan stopped, turned to her and kissed her, pulling her close.  Then, he let go and continued their walk to the entrance doors.

"What was that for?"

Evan didn't answer, only smiled.

Just as they reached the doors, Evan stopped again.

"Close your eyes Kiara, and don't open them until I've told you."

LMFAO.  As if...heeheehee

Once again, Kiara did as he asked, she closed her eyes tight.

She heard the scraping sound of the huge double doors being opened slowly and felt a sudden chill from the air outside.  It took all she had not to open her eyes as Evan had asked.  Everything here seemed to fascinate her, from the simple silken cover on her bed, to the Massive Hall they just walked down.  Now, many questions opened up in her mind, what was it he wanted her to wait to see?  Where exactly were they?  She knew they'd be answered but, she wanted to know now.

The sound of the doors ceased and once again, complete silence crept to her ears.

"Ok, open them."  Evan whispered.

Kiara opened her eyes slowly, expecting some sort of blinding light or something of that nature but was pleasantly surprised to find that the out side of the Castle was quite the opposite of the interior.  She looked out into space, the stars and planets whirling about, a comet raced past the opening, several miles away.  This is what she'd always wanted, the stars, this was what Evan gave her.  Suddenly, she felt almost sad.

Evan loved her so deeply, he'd do anything for her, and being who he was, he could do what ever she wished and he did it happily too.  Kiara grabbed the front of his robe and pulled him to her, kissing his deeply

"Thank you Evan, I.."

He put a finger to her lips then grabbing her hand, he walked the rest of the way out of the doors and they where now, standing amongst the stars.  Kiara unfolded her wings and flew out, Evan right behind her.

Kiara had been here before, but last time, she was controlled by Evan, everything was kinda foggy, dream like, in her mind.  This time however, it was real and Kiara flew about happily.  The only thing missing, she thought, was Max, how she'd love for him to be here with her.  But that, was soon pushed out of her mind as she continued to soar about.

There'll be no angels gracing their lives
Just these stark words I find
I'd show a smile but I'm too weak
I'd share with you could I only speak
Just how much this hurts me"

Evan flew with her and they stayed up in the castle and amongst the stars for a year.  Nothing that Kiara wanted was ever denied her, except, her request to visit the earth.

"It's not time yet"

Was always his answer.  Kiara excepted it and knew she'd be stepping foot on her home soil soon enough and knew, that this wasn't just for her, but for him to so, she put aside her selfishness to make him happy, that was, after all, what he did for her.

Chapter Two:  A Fleeting touch of an Angel

Max sat at his desk in the Ministry of Magic.  He was going over reports and signing death warrants for many of Voldem0rts followers when, he finally decided to take a vacation.  It had been a year since Kiara had left and he missed her more every day.  He knew she'd be back but had no clue as to when it would be.  What he didn't know, was that she would not be allowed to return until he had caught the one Death eater that eluded him for so long.   He didn't know that something had to happen in order for Kiara to return, something big, something to bring the sleeper with in her alive.  Something he didn't want to happen.

His day was done and he headed for The Ministers office.  Fudge was no longer in power, the new Minister was none other than his own father.  Fudge was killed n a raid on the Ministry six months ago.  It had been a great loss for many and a slap in the face of the Ministry it's self.

The Death Eater heading the attack was none other than Draco Malfoy himself.  Max almost captured him but was knocked out by a blast from behind, one he would not soon forget.

He remembered how it felt, he thought that Kiara herself had attacked him.  Of course, she did not, she was dead, or at least playing at being dead.  But the power of that attack on him was great and it most definitely did not come from a wizard or witch, he knew sorcery when he felt it.  Draco obviously had enlisted someone strong to protect him.  Who, Max didn't know but he was certain that he'd run into that man again.

He walked to the Minister of Magic's door and opened it.

"Come in Max.  What's on your mind son?"
