Voldemort didn't see it coming so he lost Maya. He was a powerful wizard so he could easily block the spell sirius shot at him. "You know I was never really gonna let you go!"he shouted. Really he wasn't going to. He had a plan to have them tortured then killed. They weren't worthy to be killed by him.

Voldemorts face stiffened and he didn't care if they weren't worthy anymore. "Avada......"he said.

*Sirius who had never actually been faced with that curse pointed at him wondered slightly what Dumbledore had set up. his wand started vibrating and the words that had been inscribed in the base started glowing. sirius didn't know how or why, but he knew what to do. it felt like he had known what to do since he was a child. he put hid wand on his own heart and closed his eyes. the curse that Voldemort had sent his way hit his wand but didn't kill him, instead it completely disappeared. like it had evaorated into thin air. he smiled and opened his eyes, happy that Dumbledore's protection had worked so well.*
