Alice looked up into his eyes, but dropped them again.

"I know, and I`m sorry. I just... I know that I could never let you go, not now. But because of what I`ve gone through, I can`t just let you die-- whether the cause of death is human or immortal. I`m not going to change you unless you`re really sure. I can`t... I can`t... I don`t know if I could go through that-- if you changed your mind... I know you said that you won`t, but you can change your mind. You may decide that you don`t want to be a monster." Her voice caught in her throat again, and she stared at the ground.

[Sky]

Seth pulled her close, back into an embrace. "I promise you, I won't change my mind. I promise."  Seth had made up his mind for sure. He was not going back now. His lips were suddenly upon hers, gentle and soft like always.

The kiss surprised her, and she hesitated before kissing him back. But when she did, she lifted her hand to his cheek, closing her eyes and leaning closer to him.

Seth's put his hand on top of hers as he slowly leaned back only a little.

"Change me Alice. I trust you. You can do it." His tone wasn't begging nor demanding but soft.

Alice squeezed Seth`s fingers, staring up into his eyes. Her lips burned with the heat from his lips, and the air seemed chilly without his touch.

"I can`t Seth, I won`t. Not until we`re married. I told you that and I`m not changing my mind."

[Sky]

Seth sighed loudly rolling his eyes. "Why do you want to get married first? You turned me down anyway. Not to mention the fact that I threw away the ring and I'm not buying another one."

Alice flexed her fingers against his cheek, looking to the ground and stuffing her other hand into her pocket. Her fingers wrapped around the ring in her pocket. It was as cold as her skin, having no chance to warm up.

"You seem to have forgotten, but I did say yes when you asked me. And..." She slowly pulled her fist from her pocket, the ring not visable. "I couldn`t just leave it there." She knew that he would know what it was.

[Sky]

"And then you said no." Seth said, his eyes falling to her fist.

So she had it.

"Why couldn't you just leave it?"

Alice stared at the ground.

"I don`t know, Seth, I just couldn`t. Seeing you throw it away like that," she shook her head, "I just couldn`t let you do that." She held it out. "I want you to take this back, and ask me again when you`re ready to. I already know what my answer will be." She looked up at him, her eyes shining with truth and love. She couldn`t hide the fact that she loved him, even if it was in a twisted way.

[Sky]

"And if I said I were ready now?" Seth questioned quietly once he took the ring from her hand.

Alice stared at him for a moment, really looking. She could see all of the little imperfections on his face, but she didn`t care. Her eyes ran over the line of is nose, his cheekbones, his lips. This wasn`t a face she wanted to live without.

"Then you`ll know what my answer is, too." She finally breathed.

[Sky]

Seth tilted his head to the side. "Do you want to wait? Do you want it to be a longer engagement?" He wasn't sure what she wanted.


((Its sad that Sky, Jason, Alice, and Seth are dating because nobody else ever gets on.))

Alice chewed the inside of her cheek for a moment, thinking.
"I`m ready for you to ask, if that`s what your mean. And... it won`t be a six-month engagement, I`ll tell you that." She said, her voice trailing off in a way that could suggest more than one thing.

[Sky]

"What do you mean?" Seth a ked when she said it wouldn't be a six month engagement.

"Well, there`s... all of the preperations. And I want to tell you some things. About me." She said, watching him carefully.
