JK ROWLING FROM RAGS TO RICHES

It's almost like a fairy tale reading about Rowling's pre-millionaire days. Though I'm a sort of a 'reasonist' but this account makes me believe that anything is possible. I'm not trying to disparage her success or anything, but does she deserve this fame that's being showered on her. I have nothing personal against her or her works; after all I've read all her books and seen all the potter movies and enjoyed them just like any potter fan would do. J.k Rowling should be given credit for her perspicacity and her vivid imagination. But many of her ideas are not of her own creation instead she has 'borrowed' them from other legends and books and neatly embroidered them into the main plot. The concept of living in the hostel, hostel life, friends, teachers etc I think has been uplifted from Enid Blyton's 'Mallory Towers' or the' Sullivan Twins'. These books were a rage in those times. I presume Rowling has read them and it did leave an impression on her mind. The difference between those books and potter books is the former is a normal school for girls and latter is a magical school but mind you there are many similarities. It's good for her that these books clicked with the masses and I'm happy for her and her son. But I'm asking you the same question again, don't answer this question with tainted glasses and think about it seriously:
Does she truly deserve all this fame and is the potter books worthy of such immense hype?

Kiara Johnson

Does she truly deserve all this fame and is the potter books worthy of such immense hype?

Well Yes!  Of course she does and of course the books do.  what, are yo nuts??

The woman is a genius.  Her work is absolutaly great. It attracts both the young readers and the old.  Even my mom has read them all and loves them and she's...well, I best not say.  but be asured, she is older and she loves them, I also know of a 9 year old who reads the books and loves them just as much.  I can't really think of any other stories that captivate ALL age groups quite like HP stories do.

to kiara,
kiara i really don't appreciate being called a 'nut case'.anyway i'll let that pass.so we were talking about whether jk rowling truly deserves this fame.listen, perhaps you wont agree with me(it hardly matters if you don't) but the main strenght of j.k rowling is her vast imagination as i mentioned before and thats the only thing praiseable about her.i think you talked about some 9 yr old boy mad about potter books,at such young an age you are making the child addicted to a book which is in reality doing him no good.you are an adult teenager who reads the books, see the movies, gossip with ur friends about ur fav characters and then fights on this sort of forums when people have contrary views .but dont you see it,no harm is done to you. its strange people have got so addicted to these books that it;s almost a crime not being a harry potter fan.kiara,i know people who dont read potter books and few who dislike them ,and some of them due to this hype have started feeling that there's something truly wrong with them and their tastes.think about it sweetheart and dont be so jumpy  ;)

First off, hun, I meant no personal harm be calling you nuts, I call my best friends nuts all the time.

Second, I am sorry but I see no problem with ppl goin goff on a book/story.  There seems to be no roblem with it at all.  Look at the LOR fans, they are just the same way, don't get me wrng, I like LOTR too.

Third and see this now, I am very opionated and so being, will more than likely argue with just about anything you say but please, don't take it personal, I am just simply posting my opinion on the matter, just as you have.  What it seems to me is that you came in here, posted your opion and then freaked when some one came along and dissagreed...why?

I also see nothing wrong with all the "hype".  It's not as though ppl are going crazy, killing and raping just to see Harry Potter, now is it?  I believe it's a way for ppl to keep the "magic"  alive until the next movie or book.

It seems to me that Starwars is yet another that has huge hype, or, it did in it's time and I saw no one trying to stop that...

Also, it is not a crime to NOT be a Potter fan.  One of my best friends Hates, Potter. so no, don't assume things you know nothing about, k  ;)

to kiara,
my god why dont u understand wat i'm trying to say .potter books have their magic and people love it. agreed ,there's no argument about that. but dont u see it potter is slowly losing his magic, for instance take me for an example,a year ago i wouldn't have said this, for me then harry was beyond any contradictions.but now he or rather the book fails to attract my devotion.the point that i'm trying to make is that this potter mania will die soon, there's nothing in it that can augment ur devotion for a long time.fine no one is raping anybody or murdering anybody because of it but it's a murder of another kind, murder of once reason .you wait and see how ephemeral ur devotion or say ur fancy for this book would be.

Let me tell you a story kid. My little sister fell in love with pokemon. She was right in there with all those kids who went nuts over it. Well, where we live, pokemon went out overthree years ago, and my sister is still nuts for it. She could tell you anything about it. The same goes for me with harry Potter. I won't ever lose intrest in it, not even when the books and movies are done. I have read all the books so many times I can't count it, and I still read them with as much enthusiasum as the very first time. Sure some of you guys won't like HP in a year or so, but I always will. Mainly because I like the books and my friends here. If it wern't for this place, I would have very little friends.

Go Gin  :D

Ok, now listen to ME. If you came here to tell us that we won`t love Harry Potter in a year, and that you don`t know why every ones so crazed still over it, then, I must ask, What did you come here for? The people here are fans, and we would like to simply go on with our business. But, may I say, my life has never been a simple one, and I`m definately not expecting you to make it any easier, so I`ll just make this clear. First, you came here, remember? Second, We`re fans of Harry Potter, and a `little person` such as youself has no right to say that just because you don`t like Harry Potter any more, means that we need to, just because you suppose HP is-checks how you put it- Loosing it`s magic. As far as I`m concerned, HP will become-is-history in the worlds of fantasy. Third, you my dear friend, are murder of another kind.

If I have left anything out, or if you want to play more mind games with my friends, bring it on. I`m not in a good mood, and I`ll be ready to whoop your a**.

So please. PLAY NICE.

OK, I realize that, Did I not say that "It seems to me that Starwars is yet another that has huge hype, or, it did in it's time "

Everything has it's time, I DO understand that ppl are gong to go away from the POtter "Mani."

What you are not readung, or rather understanding is that I have made my OPINION on the matter.  I, me, Kaira, me myself ond I.  Believe what I have told you.

Sorry if you can't see that I, me, myself and I  LOVE that books and will continue to read them, over and over, jsut as I have others.  Like The Belgaraid by Eddings.

Noone ever made a movie outta those and I love them, started reading them 5-6 years agao and Still, I see Eddings name on a book, I buy it and read it.

I am just simply saying that I, me and myself.  Will probably do the same with Rawlings.  I like her style of writing, you see now???

to lavender ,

i really dont know what to say to u ,u are hopeless.manners lavender, manners something u really lack.because i've have contrary views about this does not mean that i've declared a personal war on u.you think this is some sort of a mind game, are you insane,if u see this as a malicious mindgame ,that means something is really wrong with u.this is what  i call 'blind faith'.you freak out and go bonkers if someone criticizes you .i repeat wat i said before that i'm not trying to disparage jk rowling and her books. i know u love harry madly but alas dont be so blind in it,that you literally start abusing people who try to  point out the book and its author's weaknesses.besides lavender i'm not going to put my a-- there for u to kick.u asked what business i have in becoming a part of this forum and yet criticizing harry, this shows how pusillanimous u really are .you cannot stand  someone who's opiniated ,can u.its evident u cannot.shame on u lavender, shame on u.

firenze

to ginny,
ginny thats exactly what i'm trying to say.though there people like u but also there are many like me.what i'm trying to do is to show u the exceptions here.i really dont understand why is lavender jumping the gun like this.even i 'm a harry fan ,WHY DO U ALL FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THAT.being critical of something doesnt mean that one starts hating it. dont be so blind and impatient when someone is trying to make a different point.this i'm sure will eventually lead to a unpleasant arguement .so i'm dropping this topic ,i have said  what i wanted to say,you spoke the impolite way u wanted to.the end of this unpleasant story.
